  • Purpose: Due to the difficulty of the hygienic care and sanitary management of abutment teeth and subpontic areas associated with fixed dental prostheses (FDPs), intrabony defects occur and accelerate due to the accumulation of plaque and calculus. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of regenerative periodontal surgery for intrabony defects associated with FDPs. Methods: The study inclusion criteria were met by 60 patients who underwent regenerative treatment between 2016 and 2018, involving a total of 82 intrabony defects associated with FDPs. Periodontal osseous lesions were classified as 1-, 2-, and 3-wall intrabony defects and were treated with an enamel matrix derivative in combination with bone graft material. The changes in clinical (pocket probing depth [PPD] and clinical attachment level [CAL]) and radiographic (defect depth and width) outcomes were measured at baseline and at 6, 12, and 24 months. Results: Six months after regenerative treatment, a significant reduction was observed in the PPD of 1-wall (P<0.001), 2-wall (P<0.001), and 3-wall (P<0.001) defects, as well as a significant reduction in the CAL of 2-wall (P<0.001) and 3-wall (P<0.001) intrabony defects. However, there was a significant increase in the CAL of 1-wall intrabony defects (P=0.003). Radiographically, a significant reduction in the depth of the 3-wall (P<0.001) defects and a significant reduction in the width of 2-wall (P=0.008) and 3-wall (P<0.001) defects were observed. The depth decreased in 1-wall defects; however, this change was not statistically significant (P=0.066). Conclusions: Within the limitations of the current study, regenerative treatment of 2- and 3-wall intrabony defects associated with FDPs improved clinical and radiological outcomes. Additional prospective studies are necessary to confirm our findings and to assess long-term outcomes.

  • The structural analysis and water pressure test of regenerative liquid rocket thrust chamber cooling channel specimens are performed at room temperature. material properties of copper alloy are obtained by uniaxial tension test at room temperature and used of elastic-plastic structural analysis. The plate type of cooling channel specimen are manufactured and performed water pressure test in order to confirm the analysis results. The differences between results of elastic-plastic analysis and that of water pressure test of cooling channel specimen are small and find that manufacturing process affect the structural stability of cooling channel very much because cooling channel thickness is small

  • A study about the fatigue life of copper alloy which is used in inner jacket of regenerative cooling chamber of liquid rocket engine has been performed. Mechanical properties of the material and fatigue life have been taken from tensile tests and low-cycle fatigue tests at room temperature and several elevated temperatures. Original universal slopes method, modified universal slopes method, Mitchell's method, Baumel and Seeger's method, and Ong's method have been used for predicting the fatigue data. It was found that the novel life prediction method should be developed for the copper alloys since almost all data have not been predicted well with the widely used methods.

  • The Properties of material, C18200 which is used for development of high performance liquid rocket engine combustor chamber were obtained by tension tests. The specimen for regenerative combustor was designed by structural analysis using that Properties. After the designed specimen was manufactured by the same manufacturing process of regenerative combustor. the yielding stress and yielding strain were obtained by strength tests. The properties of C18200 was degraded very much after brazing. The estimation of yielding pressure by structural analysis was almost same as that of strength test. The collector Part was yielded and failed previously than that of cooling channel part during strength test.

  • Elastic-plastic structural analysis for regenerative cooling chamber of liquid rocket thrust chamber is performed. Uniaxial tension test is also conducted for the copper alloy in order to get material data necessary for the structure analysis. The results of uniaxial tension test reveal that copper alloy become ductile after brazing process and flow stress becomes lower as temperature becomes higher. As a result of structural analysis using the material data, the deformation of cooling channel is more increased by thermal load than by internal pressure of cooling fluid. Therefore, the results of analysis show that structural stability and cooling performance of combustion thrust chamber which is designed to endure mechanical load and minimized a channel thickness are improved by decreased thermal load as possible.

  • Design and fabrication of a 30-tonf-class full-scale regenerative cooling combustion chamber of a liquid rocket engine for a ground hot firing test are described. It has chamber pressure of 60 bar and nozzle expansion ration of 12 and manufactured to have a single welded structure of· the mixing head and the chamber. The material of the mixing head is STS316L which has excellent mechanical property in cryogenic condition. The chamber comprise of the cylinder, nozzle throat, and 1st/2nd nozzle parts. The material of the inner jacket is copper alloy/STS329J1/STS316L and that of the outer jacket is STS329J1. The components of· the combustor were manufactured by mechanical processing including lathing, milling, MCT, rolling and pressing. The machined components were integrated to a single body by means of general welding, electron beam welding(EBW), and brazing.

  • It is commonly found that liquid crystals stored in a common environment degrade with time, trapping more and more ion impurity in the materials. In this paper, we demonstrate how the electrical property of an old batch of liquid crystal can be effectively restored by a novel regenerative agent.

  • In this study, we propose a new scaffold fabrication method, "direct electro-hydrodynamic jet process," using the initial jet of an electrospinning process and ethanol media as a target. The fabricated threedimensional (3D) fibrous structure was configured with multilayered microsized struts consisting of randomly entangled micro/nanofibrous architecture, similar to that of native extracellular matrixes. The fabrication of the structure was highly dependent on various processing parameters, such as the surface tension of the target media, and the flow rate and weight fraction of the polymer solution. As a tissue regenerative material, the 3D fibrous scaffold was cultured with preosteoblasts to observe the initial cellular activities in comparison with a solid-freeform fabricated 3D scaffold sharing a similar structural geometry. The cell-culture results showed that the newly developed scaffold provided outstanding microcellular environmental conditions to the seeded cells (about 3.5-fold better initial cell attachment and 2.1-fold better cell proliferation).

  • In general liquid rocket nozzles are protected from hot combustion gas by regenerative cooling techniques. But due to the complexity of the cooling system, it causes increase of system cost and frequently source of the system malfunction. Recently, instead of regenerative cooing, ablative material are used to protect combustion chamber wall and nozzle. To determine the nozzle material erosion rate and erosion shape, more than 500 hot fire test were performed by using 100 lb thrust experimental liquid rocket. Test variable were propellant feed sequence, injector, position of igniter and liquid oxygen supply temperature.

  • Nuclear power plants are urged to reduce operating and maintaining costs to remain competitive as well as to increase the safety preventing the radioactive material to the atmosphere. To reduce the cost and to increase the safety, the inspection of balance-of-plant heat exchanger becomes important. However, there are some problems for plugging the heat exchanger tubes since the criterion and its basis are not clearly described. The codes and standards related to show the tube plugging criteria may not exist currently. In this paper, a method to establish the tube plugging criteria of BOP heat exchangers is introduced and the tube plugging criteria for the non-regenerative heat exchanger in the steam generator blow-down system of nuclear power plant. This method relies on the similar method used to establish the plugging criteria for the steam generator tubes.
