  • An anti-reflective coating is used to improve the performance of the solar cell. The anti-reflective coating changes the value of the short-circuit current about the thickness. However, the current-voltage characteristics about the anti-reflective coating are difficult to calculate without simulation tool. In this paper, a modeling technique to determine the short-circuit current value and the current-voltage characteristics in accordance with the thickness is proposed. In addition, artificial neural network is used to predict the short-circuit current with the dependence of temperature and thickness. Simulation results incorporating the artificial neural network model are obtained using MATLAB/Simulink and show the current-voltage characteristic according to the thickness of the anti-reflective coating.

  • A 0.5-numerical-aperture (NA) refractive-reflective objective, composed of a low-NA refractive and a reflective focal reducer, is designed. A 0.25-NA Lister objective is used for the refractive. A two-spherical-mirror system, corrected for spherical aberration, coma, and astigmatism is used for the reflective focal reducer. In spite of high NA, the refractive-reflective objective has an 18-mm working distance and improved imaging performance, compared to the 0.25-NA Lister objective.

  • This study aimed to investigate the effects of portfolio application on pre-service science teachers' reflective thinking. For the purpose, we used narrative inquiry on pre-service science teachers' portfolios. We also analyzed the dimensions and levels of pre-service science teachers' reflective thinking. Analysis results showed that the pre-service science teachers' reflective thinking was mostly centered on focus at the beginning of semester. In addition, they exhibited routine and technical levels of reflective thinking. Analysis of pre-service science teachers' reflective thinking showed it as gradually extending to the dimension of inquiry and dimension of change by the end of semester. Here, the level of reflective thinking was higher at the dialogic level and transformative level. Pre-service science teachers showed that they had difficulties in making portfolios. However, they answered positively about application of portfolios. The results of this study suggest that there is a need to actively introduce portfolio assessment in teacher education courses in order to increase the reflective thinking of pre-service science teachers.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze mathematical errors and the effects of reflective problem posing activities on students' mathematical problem solving abilities and attitudes toward mathematics. We chose two 5th grade groups (experimental and control groups) to conduct this research. From the results of this study, we obtained the following conclusions. First, reflective problem posing activities are effective in improving students' problem solving abilities. Students could use extended capability of selecting a condition to address the problem to others in the activities. Second, reflective problem posing activities can improve students' mathematical willpower and promotes reflective thinking. Reflective problem posing activities were conducted before and after the six areas of mathematics. Also, we examined students' mathematical attitudes of both the experimental group and the control group about self-confidence, flexibility, willpower, curiosity, mathematical reflection, and mathematical value. In the reflective problem posing group, students showed self check on their problems solving activities and participated in mathematical discussions to communicate with others while participating mathematical problem posing activities. We suggested that reflective problem posing activities should be included in the development of mathematics curriculum and textbooks.

  • In this study, interesting area of development is retro-reflective thin film and then slitting to form retro-reflective material to be conbined with other fibers to form having retro-reflective characteristics, which slitting yarn can then be to provide fabrics. Glass beads are microscopic spherical size with diameters ranging from several microns to several millimeters. Applying the effects of optical property, glass beads are consumed for road safety used to make traffic signs, safety clothing and others. Glass beads retro-reflective films can be turned into slit yarns through slitting yarn process. The slit yarns can be combined into textiles using diverse methods such as weaving to provide a fabric having retro-reflective characteristics. Lightness and Luminance was increased with decreasing of interval of slit yarn in the fabric. Also, the hue is shifted greenish and bluish with interval of slit yarn.

  • The environmental education is based on the assumption that accurate knowledge and attitude could be linked to real action, but those have no effect on changing the behavior. To effect the change in behavior, we need to consider the reflective thinking which can make people change their behavior. The strategies to accelerate the reflective thinking are five steps of the reflective thinking process and the interaction through the discussion of students. And also, it is more proper if the contents are based on the real experiences of the students. Thus, this study tried to know whether the improvement of reflective thinking was able to affect to the environmental behavior. The environment education program was applied to the 60 elementary school 6th grade students in Gyeonggi-do and the survey methods were presented in the general experimental curriculum. To study 6th subjects (energy, harmful chemical material, heavy metal and agricultural chemicals, food additive, environmental friendly consumption, and recycle) was developed. This study shows the effect of the program on the environment knowledge, the environment behavior, the level of reflective-thinking and communication ability.
