The reflection coefficients of monochromatic water waves over various shear currents flowing on a constant topography are estimated analytically in this study. The region of varying shear currents is represented by a finite number of tiny steps with a uniform depth topography. The proper numbers of steps and evanescent modes needed for the analysis are proposed by a series of convergence tests. The characteristics of reflection coefficients for various shear currents conditions are also examined.

Numerical simulations were implemented to look into the modified seabed topography due to the presence of breakwaters of varying reflection characteristics. The numerical model was composed of OlaFlow, an OpenFoam-based tool box, and a physics-based morphology model [Seoul Foam]. In doing so, the interaction between the seabed, which undergoes deformation due to siltation and scouring, and the incoming waves was described using Dynamic Mesh. The rubble-mound, vertical, and curved slit caisson breakwaters with varying reflection characteristics resulted in standing waves that differ from each other, shown to have a significant influence on the seabed topography. These results are in line with Nielsen's study (1993) that sands saltated under the surface nodes of standing waves, where the near-bed velocities are most substantial, convected toward the surface antinodes by boundary-layer drift. Moreover, the crest of sand waves was formed under the surface antinodes of standing waves, and the trough of sand waves was formed under the surface antinodes. In addition, sand wave amplitude reaches its peak in the curved slit caisson with a significant reflection coefficient, and the saltation of many grains of sand would cause this phenomenon due to the increased near-bed velocity under the nodes when the reflection coefficient is getting large.
The phenomenon of reflection and transmission of plane waves at an interface between fluid half space and orthotropic piezothermoelastic solid half-space with two-temperature has been investigated. Energy ratios of various reflected and transmitted waves are computed with the use of amplitude ratios. The law of conservation of energy across the interface has been justified. It is found that the energy ratios are the functions of angle of incidence, frequency of independent wave and depend on the different piezothermoelastic material. A piezothermoelastic material has been considered which is in welded contact with water. Variations of energy ratios corresponding to the reflected waves and transmitted waves are computed and shown graphically for the two different models. A particular reduced case of interest is also discussed.

As wind waves generated in deep water approach nearshore zone, they experience various physical phenomena caused by bathymetric variations, nonlinear interactions among different wave components and interferences with man-made coastal structures. Among these, the bathymetric variations may play a significant role in the change of wave climate. The accurate calculation of reflection and transmission coefficients of incident waves over a bottom topography is indispensible for the proper and economical design of coastal structures. (omitted)

A numerical model is introduced to simulate propagation, reflection, and scattering of elastic waves in solids. The model consists of mass points and linear springs, interconnected with in a lattice structure; hence, its name, the mass-spring lattice model (MSLM). The MSLM has successfully been applied to the numerical simulation and visualization of various elastic wave phenomena involved in ultrasonic nondestructive testing (NDT). This method is useful to simulate, design, or analyze actual testing. Some representative examples of numerical simulation using the MSLM are presented, and future work necessary for its further development Is addressed.

This paper reports the results obtained for there flection and transmission coefficients on rubble mound breakwaters in Busan Yacht Harbor. A2D physical model test was conducted in the wave flume at the Coastal Engineering Research Laboratory at Pusan National University, Busan, South Korea. In this study, physical model tests were completed to further our understanding of the hydrodynamic processes that surround a rubble mound structure subjected to irregular waves. In particular, the reflection and transmission coefficients, as well as the spectrum transformation, were analyzed. This analysis suggests that with an increase in wave height around a rubble mound, the reflection coefficient drastically increases at each water level (HHW or MSL or LLW). Moreover, when the water level changes from HHW to LLW, the reflection coefficient is suddenly reduced. A further result of the analysis is that the transmission coefficient strongly drops away from the rear of the structure. Finally, in regard to the rubble mound breakwater in Busan Yacht Harbor, a consideration of the reflection and transmission coefficients plays an important role in the design.
To develop cardiovascular simulator capable of implementing pulse waves similar to the human body, accurate information about reflection wave is required. However, the conclusion is still not clear and various discussions are underway. In this study, the pulse wave velocity of the tube used in the experiment was first determined by measuring the pressure waves at two points in a single tube system with the experimental device to implement the pulse wave transmission of blood vessels, and the superposition time and characteristics of the reflection wave were confirmed. After that, an air chamber was set at the reflection site, and the effect of the change of air volume on the reflection wave was investigated. Finally, the effect of the number of branches connected to a single tube on the reflection wave was investigated. The superposition time of the reflection wave can be controlled by the air volume of the air chamber, and the magnitude of the reflection wave is influenced by the number of reflection sites that generate the reflection wave. The results of this study may be of practical assistance to simulator researchers who want to implement pulse wave similar to clinical data. It is expected that the more results similar to clinical are provided, the greater the scope of the simulator's contribution to clinical cardiovascular research.

Recently, some attempts to construct slit caisson-type breakwaters are made in Korea. Since slit caisson-type breakwaters are suitable for relatively deep sea areas, a lot of theoretical and experimental researches have been performed. In this study, the reflection characteristics of vertical slit caisson breakwaters are investigated based on the measured data in two-dimensional hydraulic model tests with irregular waves. The experiments were conducted for various cases; variation of porosity of perforated-wall, width of wave chamber, number of slits for single-and double-chamber, respectively. It is found that in the case when the wave steepness (H/L$_{s}$ ) is small, the reflection coefficients are large. The existing researches have shown that the wave reflection is minimized when the nondimensional width of wave chamber B/L is about 0.2~0.25 for the regular waves. However, for the irregular waves the reflection is lowest when $B/L_2$, is 0.13~0.15. For a same porosity condition, the wave dissipation is stronger as the width of s1it is larger. The double-chamber caisson is superior to single- chamber caisson in the wave dissipating effects.
The article is about the theoretical analysis of the transmission and reflection of elastic waves through the interface of perfectly connected materials. The solid continuum mediums considered are piezoelectric semiconductors and transversely isotropic in nature. The connection among the mediums is considered in such a way that it holds the continuity property of field variables at the interface. The concept of strain and stress introduced by non-local theory is also being involved to make the study more applicable It is found that, the incident wave results in the generation of four reflected and three transmitted waves including the thermal and elastic waves. The thermal waves generated in the medium are encountered by using the concept of three phase lag heat model along with fractional ordered time thermoelasticity. The results obtained are calculated graphically for a ZnO material with piezoelectric semiconductor properties for medium M1 and CdSc material with transversely isotropic elastic properties for medium M2. The influence of fractional order parameter, non-local parameter, and steady carrier density parameter on the amplitude ratios of reflected and refraction waves are studied graphically by MATLAB.

Reflection coefficients of wave due to the types of a submerged breakwater on the inclined incident wave are numerically computed by using boundary element method. The analysis method is based on the wave pressure function with the continuity in the analytical region including fluid and structures. When compared with the existing results on the inclined incident wave, the results of this study show good agreement. It is found that both maximum and minimum values of the reflection coefficient are appeared frequently, as the width of a submerged breakwater becomes wider, and the reflection coefficient increase, as the wave period is longer. In addition, the effect on the reflection coefficient due to the change of submerged breakwater hight is lager than that due to the change of submerged breakwater width. The results indicate that dissipating characteristics of wave due to the types of a submerged breakwater own high dependability regarding the change of inclined incident waves. Therefore, the results of this study is estimated to be applied as an accurate numerical analysis referring to inclined incident waves in real sea.
