Bacterial Common Blight and Fuscous Blight of Small Red Bean caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. phaseoli and X. axonopodis pv. phaseoli var. fuscans (Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. phaseoli와 X. axonopodis pv. phaseoli var. fuscans에 의한 팥의 세균성잎마름병)

  • A bacterial disease of small red bean (Phaseolus angularis) was observed on field-grown plants in Suwon in year 2003. Leaf symptoms initially appeared as water-soaked spots that gradually enlarged, became flaccid and necrotic and were often bordered by a small zone of lemon yellow tissue. In the case of severe infection, dead leaves were defoliated. Pod symptoms consisted of the lesions that were generally circular, slightly sunken and dark reddish brown. Isolation made from diseased leaves on yeast extract dextrose calcium carbonate agar yielded nearly pure cultures of a yellow-pigmented bacterium typical of a xanthomonad. Three bacterial strains were purified and used for further tests. Pathogenicity of strains was confirmed on 3-week-old small red bean plants sprayed with bacterial suspensions containing $10^8 cfu/ml$ of phosphate buffered saline. The representative Xanthomonas strains isolated from small red bean were compared with X. axonopodis pv. phaseoli and X. axonopodis pv. phaseoli var. fuscans type strains for fatty acid profiles, biochemical tests and metabolic fingerprints using Biolog GN2 microplate, showing that all outcomes were indistinguishable between our isolates and reference strains. Two of three strains produced a melanin-like brown pigment extracellularly on King's medium B agar. These results suggest that this new small red bean disease observed in Suwon is bacterial fuscous blight caused by X. axonopodis pv. phaseoli and X. axonopodis pv. phaseoli var. fuscans.

Evaluation of the Movement Pattern of Siniperca scherzeri Using the Radio Telemetry in the Middle Part of the Geum-River where Wiers were Constructed Recently (Radio telemetry를 이용한 금강보 설치구간에서 쏘가리(Siniperca scherzeri)의 이동 특성)

  • Siniperca scherzeri is major target species for restocking and restoration project as it is one of the economic species in South Korea. In this study, to investigate their ecological characteristics movement pattern and habitat characteristic of S. scherzeri were analyzed using radio telemetry. Three specimens released during spawning season, moved more than 10 km toward upstream from the release site. Whereas the remains released after spawning season, settled within 400 m of their release site except two specimens (Ss 11, 3.2 km; Ss, 15, 1.4 km). One of possible reason of upstream movement during spawning season is reproduction. The conditions of their settlement area is similar with reference conditions of their spawning ground. S. scherzeri were mainly detected near the edge of the water, and it may related with the facts that rocks are mainly located at the edge of the water and S. scherzeri prefers rocks for their shelter. AMD (Accumulated movement distance) positively related with body weight and condition factor K, but no significant relationship was identified with gender and total length. Daily movement boundary of S. scherzeri was $214.94m^2{\sim}3,257.19m^2$, and their movement was restricted near the edge of the water. The results of this study could be useful to restocking and restoration.

Practical Evaluation of Intellectual Capital (IC) Measurement Tool for Contract Foodservice Management Company (위탁급식전문업체 지적자본 측정도구의 운용시험 평가)

  • The purposes of this study were to a) measure the IC identified of CFMC (contract foodservice management company) ,b) examine IC circumstance of CFMC, c) evaluate practically IC measurement tool of CFMC, and d) present information for selecting an adequate CFMC to clients. The questionnaires of IC measurement were handed out to 108 CFMCs, there composing of main office employees, foodservice managers, customers, and clients of 207 school,38 hospital, and 86 husiness/industry foodservices. The statistical data analysis was completed using SPSS Win (ver 12.0) for descriptive analysis, t-test, Mann-Whitney U test. First, CFMCs had operational experience for an average of 8 years and 8 months, and served an average of 38,540 meals a day. Most of the respondent companies specialized in the school foodservice field and managed an average of 66 clients for the contract period of 2 years and 3 months. Second, the respondent companies had gotten a score of 77.78 points for the total average, 77.7 points in the large enterprise group and 78.1 points in the small and medium-sized enterprise group. Therefore, the minimum number of points for the accrediting license on Qualification is suggested to be over 70 out of a 100 point scale; this study would be serve as reference for the certification license on qualification. On the level of evaluation category, the scores were 14.15 to 20 points on $\ulcorner$finance$\urcorner$, 19.24 to 25 points on $\ulcorner$customer$\urcorner$, 19.33 to 25 points on $\ulcorner$process$\urcorner$, 14.31 to 20 points on $\ulcorner$human resource$\urcorner$, and 8.6 to 10 point on $\ulcorner$renewal and development$\urcorner$ . $\ulcorner$Renewal and development$\urcorner$ and $\ulcorner$customer focus$\urcorner$ received better grades than other evaluation categories. Third, $\ulcorner$Finance$\urcorner$ indicated similar distribution overall. Small and medium-sized companies had lower grades than large companies on 'market ability' of $\ulcorner$customer$\urcorner$ , but, clients of small and medium-sized companies had higher grade for 'client satisfaction' than large companies. Most of the companies supported 'infrastructure support for foodservice operation' of $\ulcorner$process$\urcorner$ by the main office of CFMCs, but, the branch chain offices of CFMCs were not applied efficiently. Large companies made more effort to improve the 'employee ability' of $\ulcorner$human focus$\urcorner$ than small and medium-sized CFMC. The 'research and development cost' of $\ulcorner$renewal and development$\urcorner$ was increased compared to the previous year. In conclusion, if CFMCs were to perform self-evaluation and a routine checkups by utilizing CFMC's IC measuring tool, improvements in CFMC operational capacities as well as foodservice quality can be noted.   • Old-growth and giant tree is a nonrenewable resource with great value. The purpose of this study is to provide scientific and reasonable evaluations for the preservation and management of the old-growth and giant tree. Until now the research of old-growth and giant tree's value evaluation and authoritative index is so insufficient and imperfection. Combining with the particularity of the old-growth and giant tree, this study analyzed the main value factors of the old-growth and giant tree and objectively selected the evaluation indicators. According to the actual situation value appraisal model of the old-growth and giant tree was builded. The main value factors can be divided into economic value, cultural history, growing place, tree state, tree form, tree vigor, protection level, growth environment, tree species, tree canopy, and so on. The evaluate indicators can be selected and the indicators' weight can be calculate using analytic hierarchy process methods(AHP). Based on economic value and indicators' weight, tree's total value can be revealed. After calculation and analysis, Gyeongju Gyerim Zelkova serrata's value evaluation results is 491,503,300 won. The research results of this study can provide scientific basis and reference to the old-growth and giant trees' value appraisal and loss compensation, and arouse people's environmental awareness.

  • This article examines actions of the department of a university according to Higher Education Evaluation Policy as a case on the department of Christian education of A University. This article consists of background and policy Higher Education Evaluation and actions of the department of Christian education. Specialization, curriculum, management of instructional quality, educational achievement, student support and cooperation of local community as category of trends of the department of Christian education are discussed. Aim of education, model of human resource, educational objects, and key-competency as the specialization of department of Christian education are discussed. Curriculum of department suggests students career track which is related to their career. Positive guidance counseling are implemented for rate of recruit related to educational achievement. Non-subject matter program of University and Department are introduced for students's support. 60 hours of educational service and other educational activities are carried out for local community. Principal, chaplain of school and teachers are invited for educational practical affairs of education. The result of this article can be used as a basic reference for the direction of the higher education.

Development of Standard Method for Quality Innovation to Strengthen Global Competitiveness and Create Management Performance of Small and Medium-sized Manufacturing Firms (중소 제조기업의 글로벌 품질경쟁력 강화 및 경영성과 창출을 위한 품질혁신 표준방법론 개발)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop quality innovation techniques specialized for the small and medium-sized businesses. which account for the majority of Korean companies, were having a hard time utilizing the widely recognized quality innovation techniques due to resource constraints. Methods: First, we do review the existing Single PPM and 6 Sigma. And investigate the utilization of these methods including Toyota Production System. Second, we devised a four-step problem-solving methodology based on recent trends in quality innovation such as Simple, Speedy, and Smart. Third, we do survey on frequently used tools for quality innovation. Many opinion leaders including quality consultants and professors answered and gave us valuable comments about our selected quality tools. Finally, we do specify and map tools to each step of PASS. Results: In 2017, 167 companies participated in the quality innovation support business for small businesses according to the Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry. We conducted performance checks on 167 companies that had completed the "PASS" projects. For the purpose of evaluating improvement performance, the survey was carried out using a structured questionnaire during the field visit of these companies mentioned above. For the reference, 165 out of 167 companies (98.8 % response rate) responded to the questionnaire and conducted performance analysis based on it. According to the survey, 97.6 percent of the respondents were very satisfied with their overall satisfaction with the quality innovation support projects for small and medium sized enterprises in 2017. Also, 93.3 % of the respondents were satisfied with the results of level of the target achievement. As a result, 160 companies (97.0 % of the participating companies) hope to partic ipate in the quality improvement project using "PASS" once again. Conclusion: In this paper, we introduce the new quality innovation methodology, which is named as 'PASS', It could support the long-range business plan of the small and medium-sized businesses to achieve total customer satisfaction resulting in increased market share and improved profit margin. The most small companies can use this "PASS" technique more easily, quickly and most efficiently than their existing known quality innovation techniques such as Six Sigma and Single PPM, etc.

A Comparison of Pixel- and Segment-based Classification for Tree Species Classification using QuickBird Imagery (QuickBird 위성영상을 이용한 수종분류에서 픽셀과 분할기반 분류방법의 정확도 비교)

  • This study was conducted to compare classification accuracy by tree species using QuickBird imagery for pixel- and segment-based classifications that have been mostly applied to classify land covers. A total of 398 points was used as training and reference data. Based on this points, the points were classified into fourteen land cover classes: four coniferous and seven deciduous tree species in forest classes, and three non-forested classes. In pixel-based classification, three images obtained by using raw spectral values, three tasseled indices, and three components from principal component analysis were produced. For the both classification processes, the maximum likelihood method was applied. In the pixel-based classification, it was resulted that the classification accuracy with raw spectral values was better than those by the other band combinations. As resulted that, the segment-based classification with a scale factor of 50% provided the most accurate classification (overall accuracy:76% and ${\hat{k}}$ value:0.74) compared to the other scale factors and pixel-based classification.

Improvement of Acid Digestion Method by Microwave for Hazardous Heavy Metal Analysis of Solid Refuse Fuel (고형연료제품의 유해중금속 분석을 위한 마이크로파 산 분해법의 개선)

  • The quality standards of solid refuse fuel (SRF) define the values for 12 physico-chemical properties, including moisture, lower heating value, and metal compounds, according to Article 20 of the Enforcement Rules of the Act on Resource Saving and Recycling Promotion. These parameters are evaluated via various SRF Quality Test Methods, but problems related to the heavy metal content have been observed in the microwave acid digestion method. Therefore, these methods and their applicability need improvement. In this study, the appropriate testing conditions were derived by varying the parameters of microwave acid digestion, such as microwave power and pre-treatment time. The pre-treatment of SRF as a function of the microwave power revealed an incomplete decomposition of the sample at 600 W, and the heavy metal content analysis was difficult to perform under 9 mL of nitric acid and 3 mL of hydrochloric acid. The experiments with the reference materials under nitric acid at 600 W lasted 30 minutes, and 1,000 W for 20 or 30 minutes were considered optimal conditions. The results confirmed that a mixture of SRF and an acid would take about 20 minutes to reach $180^{\circ}C$, requiring at least 30 minutes of pre-treatment. The accuracy was within 30% of the standard deviation, with a precision of 70 ~ 130% of the heavy metal recovery rate. By applying these conditions to SRF, the results for each condition were not significantly different and the heavy metal standards for As, Pb, Cd, and Cr were satisfied.

  • With the advent of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the modern economy is transforming into a service-oriented economic society, and there is a growing need for companies to reorganize organizational culture, values, and human resources to suit the changing environment. Especially, even when times change, human capital is the most important factor in maintaining sustainable development and Corporate value, since all work is done by people. Therefore, in this study, in order to recognize the importance of human resources and verify the appropriate human resources for the changing service economy era, we reviewed the literature and that drew the human resources suitable for the recent service economy era Based on this, an empirical study was conducted on whether the suggested human resources factors were useful. To this end, a feasibility analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and reference validity were conducted by dividing into a preliminary survey and a main survey. As a result, it was finally drawn with 30 items, 7 factors. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data in various fields of research on human resources in the service economy era, and in-depth empirical studies are needed in the future.

Estimation of the allowable range of prediction errors to determine the adequacy of groundwater level simulation results by an artificial intelligence model (인공지능 모델에 의한 지하수위 모의결과의 적절성 판단을 위한 허용가능한 예측오차 범위의 추정)

  • Groundwater is an important water resource that can be used along with surface water. In particular, in the case of island regions, research on groundwater level variability is essential for stable groundwater use because the ratio of groundwater use is relatively high. Researches using artificial intelligence models (AIs) for the prediction and analysis of groundwater level variability are continuously increasing. However, there are insufficient studies presenting evaluation criteria to judge the appropriateness of groundwater level prediction. This study comprehensively analyzed the research results that predicted the groundwater level using AIs for various regions around the world over the past 20 years to present the range of allowable groundwater level prediction errors. As a result, the groundwater level prediction error increased as the observed groundwater level variability increased. Therefore, the criteria for evaluating the adequacy of the groundwater level prediction by an AI is presented as follows: less than or equal to the root mean square error or maximum error calculated using the linear regression equations presented in this study, or NSE ≥ 0.849 or R2 ≥ 0.880. This allowable prediction error range can be used as a reference for determining the appropriateness of the groundwater level prediction using an AI.
