  • As it is the most important to make sure security and reliability for nuclear Power Plant, it's considered the most crucial issues to develop a fault detective and diagnostic system in spite of multiple hardware redundancy in itself. To develop an algorithm for a fault diagnosis in the nuclear PWR steam generator, this paper proposes a method based on ART2(adaptive resonance theory 2) neural network that senses and classifies troubles occurred in the system. The fault diagnosis system consists of fault detective part to sense occurred troubles, parameter estimation part to identify changed system parameters and fault classification part to understand types of troubles occurred. The fault classification part Is composed of a fault classifier that uses ART2 neural network. The Performance of the proposed fault diagnosis a18orithm was corroborated by applying in the steam generator.

  • To adjust the difference of bandwidth between host interface and NAND flash memory, DRAM is adopted as the buffer management in SSD (Solid-state Disk). In this paper, we propose cost-effective techniques to enhance SSD performance instead of using expensive high bandwidth DRAM. The SSD data can be classified into three groups such as user data, meta data for handling user data, and FEC(Forward Error Correction) parity/ CRC(Cyclic Redundancy Check) for error control. In order to improve the performance by considering the features of each data, we devise a flexible burst control method through monitoring system and a page based FEC parity/CRC application. Experimental results show that proposed methods enhance the SSD performance up to 25.9% with a negligible 0.07% increase in chip size.

  • This paper introduces a BCH code decoder using parallel CRC(: Cyclic Redundancy Check) generation. Using a conventional parallel syndrome generator with a LFSR(: Linear Feedback Shift Register), it takes up a lot of space for a short code. The proposed decoder uses the parallel CRC method that is widely used to compute the checksum. This scheme optimizes the a syndrome generator in the decoder by eliminating redundant xor operation compared with the parallel LFSR and thus minimizes chip area and propagation delay. In simulation results, the proposed decoder has accomplished propagation delay reduction of 2.01 ns as compared to the conventional scheme. The proposed decoder has been designed and synthesized in $0.35-{\mu}m$ CMOS process.

  • In this paper, a novel maximum a posterion (MAP) estimation for the channel decoding of H.264 codes in the presence of transmission error is presented. Arithmetic codes with a forbidden symbol and trellis search techniques are employed in order to estimate the best transmitted. And, there has been growing interest of communication, the research about transmission of exact data is increasing. Unlike the case of voice transmission, noise has a fatal effect on the image transmission. The reason is that video coding standards have used the variable length coding. So, only one bit error affects the all video data compressed before resynchronization. For reasons of that, channel needs the channel codec, which is robust to channel error. But, usual channel decoder corrects the error only by channel error probability. So, designing source codec and channel codec, Instead of separating them, it is tried to combine them jointly. And many researches used the information of source redundancy In received data. But, these methods do not match to the video coding standards, because video ceding standards use not only one symbol but also many symbols in same data sequence. In this thesis, We try to design combined source-channel codec that is compatible with video coding standards. This MAP decoder is proposed by adding semantic structure and semantic constraint of video coding standards to the method using redundancy of the MAP decoders proposed previously. Then, We get the better performance than usual channel coder's.

  • To compress the moving picture data effectively, it is needed to reduce spatial and temporal redundancy of input image data. While motion estimation! compensation methods is effectively able to reduce temporal redundancy but it is increased computation complexity because of the prediction between frames. So, the study of algorithm for computation reduction and real time processing is needed. This paper is presenting quantizer effectively able to quantize DCT coefficient considering the human visual sensitivity. As quantizer that proposed DCT-based H.263 could make transmit more frame than TMN5 at a same transfer speed, and it could decrease the frame drop effect. And the luminance signal appeared the difference of $-0.3{\sim}+0.65dB$ in the average PSNR for the estimation of objective image quality and the chrominance signal appeared the improvement in about 1.73dB in comparision with TMN5. The proposed method reduces $30{\sim}31%$ compared with NTSS and $20{\sim}21%$ compared to 4SS in comparition of calculation quantity.

  • Many image and video compression algorithms work by splitting the input image into blocks and producing variable-length coded bits for each block data. If variable-length coded data are transmitted consecutively, then the resulting coder is highly sensitive to channel errors. Therefore, most image and video techniques for providing some protection to the stream against channel errors usually involve adding a controlled amount of redundancy back into the stream. Such redundancy might take the form of resynchronization markers, which enable the decoder to restart the decoding process from the known state, in the event of transmission errors. The Error Resilient Entropy Code (EREC) is a well known method which can regain synchronization without any redundant information to convert from variable-length code to fixed-length code. This paper proposes an enhancement to EREC, which greatly improves its transmission ability for the compressed image quality without any redundant bits in the event of errors. The simulation result shows that the both objective and subjective quality of transmitted image is enhanced compared with the existing EREC at the same BER(Bit Error Rate).

  • The ultimate purpose of a walking robot is to move to a designated spot and to perform a necessary manipulation. To perform various manipulations for a walking robot, it should have some kind of an extra manipulator. However, if the manipulation task for the robot is simple enough, the robot can perform the task by using its legs. Among various kinds of walking robots, a hexapod walking robot has relatively many legs, so it has the advantage of stability and walking speed. So, a hexapod walking robot can perform simple manipulation task by using its one or two legs while maintaining stability by using the rest of legs. In this paper, we deal with a simple manipulation task of holding a ball. We formulate the task as a redundancy resolution problem and propose a method for obtaining an optimal solution.

  • System for three degrees of freedom plus (3DoF+) and 6DoF requires multi-view high resolution 360 video transmission to provide user viewport adaptive 360 video streaming. In this paper, we implement 3DoF+ 360 video compression system which removes the redundancy between multi-view videos and merges the residual into one video to provide high quality 360 video corresponding to an user's head movement efficiently. Implementations about 3D warping based redundancy removal method between 3DoF+ 360 videos and residual extraction and merger are explained in this paper. With the proposed system, 20.14% of BD-rate reduction in maximum is shown compared to traditional high-efficiency video coding (HEVC) based system.

  • Background: Montane wetlands are unique wetland ecosystems with distinct physicochemical characteristics, and Molinia japonica often makes dominant communities in montane wetlands in South Korea. In order to figure out the environmental characteristics of M. japonica habitats and the major factors for the growth of M. japonica, field surveys were conducted in five wetlands from September to October 2019. Also, soil was collected at every quadrats installed in surveyed wetlands to analyze the physicochemical features. Results: The relative coverage of M. japonica was higher in low latitude wetlands than in high latitude. Redundancy analysis showed that soil water content had the strongest effect on the growth of M. japonica (F = 23.0, p < 0.001). Soil water content, loss on ignition, and relative light intensity showed a high correlation with the density (R = 0.568, 0.550, 0.547, respectively, p < 0.01) and the coverage of M. japonica (R = 0.495, 0.385, 0.514, respectively, p < 0.01). Soil water content, loss on ignition, and pH were highly correlated with each other. Conclusions: Molinia japonica lives in acidic wetlands at high altitude in temperate zone of low latitude, with peat layer placed on the floor. Also, M. japonica prefers open spaces to secure enough light for photosynthesis. High shoot production of M. japonica resulted in adding new peat material in every year, and this layer enforces the environmental characteristics of M. japonica habitats. This study may provide insights for further understanding of the method how wetlands maintain acidic condition by itself in montane wetlands in temperate zone.

  • In the three-dimensional analysis and deformation analysis of large structures, efficient is the use of the multiple method of close range photogrammetry which approaches the object distance. This study analyzes the influence of errors according to the overlap, the control points, and the object distance, to solve the problems which are raised in the multiple method. A wall-board, 7 meters by 3 meters, was used as a test field on which a total of 225 unknown points were equally disposed. The photographs with changing the overlap and object distance were taken by P-31 camera system. a total of 143 negatives are used in this study for computing 3-dimensional coordinates and its standard errors, and bundle adjustment of strips and blocks developed with on-line system is applied. In case of decreasing the number of control points, simulation error increases but actual error decreases and increases again. Due to the changed of object distances Z error represents largely compared to X, Y error, but good results in Z can be obtained by increasing the redundancy. And simulation error or actual error shows best results at the endlap of about 70%. To sum up this study, approprate arrangement of control points and overlap is meaningful, and multiple method by short object distance will be widely used to precision and deformation analysis of critical structures.
