마이크로파를 이용한 SHS 방법에 의한 분말의 산화-환원반응 (Microwave Induced Reduction/Oxidation Reaction by SHS Technique)

  • 가정용 2.45GHz 마이크로파 오븐을 사용하여 A1 금속분말과 SiO2 분말간에 SHS방법에 의하여 산화/환원 반응을 통한 Al2O3 분말과 Si분말간의 복합체를 얻을 수 있었다. 분말간의 반응을 일으키기 위한 온도까지 승온시키기 위하여는 SiC 분말을 susceptor로 이용한 마이크로파 복합가열(Microwave Hybrid Heating)방법을 사용하여 분당 100℃의 승온 속도로 가열하였으며 반응은 850℃ 근처에서 일어났으며 가열 속도는 반응이 시작되면서 분당 200℃ 이상의 온도상승이 일어나면서 원하는 반응을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 방사성 유기 혼합폐기물의 저온 분해공정인 MEO(Mediated Electrochemical Oxidation) 공정에서 발생하는 폐액으로부터 Ag를 화학적으로 회수하는 연구를 수행하였다. 고농도 질산용액과 함에 존재하는 $AgNO_3$를 HCl과 반응시켜 AgCl 침전물로 회수하였다. 이 때 HCl 최적 반응 당량비는 $AgNO_3$비해 1% 초과하였으며 100% 침전시킬 수 있었다. AgCl은 알카리 분위기에서 과산화수소와 반응시켜 순수 Ag금속으로 환원됨을 알 수 있었고, Ag금속의 환원 반응시 용액의 pH는 12.8~13.0의 범위가 적당하였다.

유기초박막의 산화-환원 반응에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Oxidation-reduction Reaction of Organic Thin Films)

  • We investigated the electrochemical properties for Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films mixed with 4-octyl-4'-(5-carboxylpentamethyleneoxy)azobenzene (denoted as 8A5H) and phospholipid(L-a-dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine, denoted as DMPC and L-a-dilauroylphosphayidylcholine, denoted as DLPC). The LB films of 8A5H, 8A5H-DMPC and 8A5H-DLPC mixture monolayers were deposited by using the LB method on the indium tin oxide(ITO) glass. The electrochemical properties measured by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system, an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode at various concentrations(0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 mol/L) of $NaClO_4$ solution. A measuring range was reduced from initial potential to -1350 mV, continuously oxidized to 1650 mV and measured to the initial point. The scan rates were 50, 100, 150 and 200 mV/s, respectively. As a result, LB films of 8A5H and 8A5H-DLPC mixture monolayers appeared irreversible process caused by only the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram and LB films of 8A5H-DMPC monolayer mixture was found to be caused by a reversible oxidation-reduction process.

Enhancement of NOx photo-oxidation by Fe-doped TiO2 nanoparticles

  • Microwave hydrothermal-assisted sol-gel method was employed to synthesize the Fe doped TiO2 photocatalyst. The morphological analysis suggests anatase phase nanoparticles of ~20 nm with an SBET area of 283.99 ㎡/g. The doping of Fe ions in TiO2 created oxygen vacancies and Ti3+ species as revealed through the XPS analysis. The reduction of the band gap (3.1 to 2.8 eV) is occurred by doping effect. The as-prepared photocatalyst was applied for removal of NOx under solar light irradiation. The doping of Fe in TiO2 facilitates 75 % of NOx oxidation efficiency which is more than two-fold enhancement than the TiO2 photocatalyst. The possible reason of enhancement is associated with high surface area, oxygen vacancy, and reduction of the band gap. Also, the low production of toxic intermediates, NO2 gas, is further confirmed by Combustion Ion Chromatography. The mechanism related NOx oxidation by the doped photocatalyst is explained in this study.

총질소 분석방법의 비교 (Comparison of the Total Nitrogen Determination Methods)

  • Among the many parameters describing water quality, total nitrogen content(TN) is regarded as important one in relation to water quality management of the waterbodies for its role in eutrophication process. This study evaluated for accuracy, convenience and promptness of nitrogen analysis methods : (1)UV spectrophotometric method, (2)summation method, (3)cadmium reduction method. And, the detection limit of each method was calculated using EPA method. The UV spectrophotometric method after oxidation appears to be more convenient and accurate in determination of the TN contents than the summation method and cadmium reduction method. The summation method is necessary to separate determinations of the organic nitrogen, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. And, because summation method has many other methods for each contents, it can be detected for wide range of concentration.

  • Paraquat(methyl viologen) is a bis-quaternary ammonium compound as a wide range herbicide. which was first introduced as an oxidation-reduction indicator dye. When paraquat(fatal dose. 1-2g) was administered to men, the oxido-reduction system of cell was repeatedly acted to perpetuate the cell membrane system, Many death cases had been occurred after ingestion of paraquat around Daejon area for the last six months.   • Development of recycling method at cemented carbide scraps was researched. Some properties of recycled cemented carbides were investigated. Recycled WC fine powder suffered the surface oxidation. Therefore it was necessary to be done by reduction treatment at 1073K-3.6ks under hydrogen atmosphere. When sintering condition at 1673K-3.6ks was treated under vacuum condition, it gained the deflective strength of about 90%, and gained hardness and sintering density about same value compared with commercial alloys. As a result, it was able to recycle only by 7 processes.

Effect of Doenjang (Korean Fermented Soybean Paste) on Lipid Oxidation and Cooking Properties of Pork Patties

  • This study was carried out to investigate the cooking properties and lipid oxidation stability during storage at $4{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ when the various levels (5 to 20%) of doenjang (Korean fermented soybean paste) were added to pork patties cooked by pan frying (PF) and convection oven (CO). With increasing the addition of doenjang, cooking properties of pork patties revealed the improved cooking yield, less diameter reduction, and less thickness increase. Also, the shear force, hardness, and chewiness of pork patties were reduced. The PF cooking method showed better cooking properties than CO. Lipid oxidation expressed by the thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) values was significantly reduced by the addition of more than 5% doenjang (p<0.05). The TBARS values of cooked pork patties by PF were significantly lower than CO during the 8 days of the storage (p<0.05). The development of warmed-over flavor (WOF) in cooked pork patties was delayed as the amount of the doenjang was increased. It was suggested that the addition of doenjang and PF favorably affected the cooking properties and stability of lipid oxidation in pork patties.

다공성 탄소나노섬유 지지체에 담지된 백금촉매의 메탄올 산화 특성 연구 (Methanol Electro-Oxidation Properties of Pt Electro-Catalysts Embedded by Porous Carbon Nanofiber Supports)

  • To improve the methanol electro-oxidation in direct methanol fuel cells(DMFCs), Pt electrocatalysts embedded on porous carbon nanofibers(CNFs) were synthesized by electrospinning followed by a reduction method. To fabricate the porous CNFs, we prepared three types of porous CNFs using three different amount of a styrene-co-acrylonitrile(SAN) polymer: 0.2 wt%, 0.5 wt%, and 1 wt%, respectively. A SAN polymer, which provides vacant spaces in porous CNFs, was decomposed and burn out during the carbonization. The structure and morphology of the samples were examined using field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy and their surface area were measured using the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET). The crystallinities and chemical compositions of the samples were examined using X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The electrochemical properties on the methanol electro-oxidation were characterized using cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. Pt electrocatalysts embedded on porous CNFs containing 0.5 wt% SAN polymer exhibited the improved methanol oxidation and electrocatalytic stability compared to Pt/conventional CNFs and commercial Pt/C(40 wt% Pt on Vulcan carbon, E-TEK).

환원법에 의한 직접 메탄올 연료전지(DMFC)용 Pt-Sn/Carbon 전극제조 (Synthesis of Pt-Sn/Carbon Electrodes by Reduction Method for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell)

  • 금속물질의 분산도를 높여주기 위해 열처리와 산처리를 수행한 carbon black에 다양한 비율의 Pt와 Sn을 담지 시킨 촉매를 환원법을 이용하여 합성하였다. Pt/Sn의 비율은 전구체 용액 내에서 상대적인 농도를 변화시켜 조절하였으며, Pt/Sn 비율에 따른 반응 특성을 조사하였다. XRD (X-ray Diffraction) 분석을 통해 합성된 촉매의 결정도를 확인하였고, XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) 분석으로 Pt와 Sn의 산화가를 확인하였다. 합성된 촉매의 조성과 구조를 분석하기 위해 SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy)-EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) 분석과 TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) 분석을 수행하였다. 산소 환원 반응 특성은 0.5 M $H_2SO_4$ 수용액에서 RDE (Rotating Disk Electrode)를 이용하여 조사하였으며, 산소환원 촉매활성은 Pt/Sn의 비율에 크게 의존함을 확인하였다. 합성한 전극의 메탄올 산화반응은 전기화학분석장치(Potentiostat ; Princeton applied research, VSP)를 이용하여 0.5 M $CH_3OH$와 0.5 M $H_2SO_4$의 혼합수 용액에서 수행하였다. 메탄올 산화에 대한 전기화학적 촉매활성과 안정성을 평가한 결과 적절한 양의 Sn을 첨가한 촉매가 높은 촉매활성과 안정성을 나타냄을 확인하였다.
