Current seismic design provisions allow structures to deform into inelastic range during design level earthquakes since the chance to meet such event is quite rare. For this purpose, design base shear is defined in current seismic design provisions as the value of elastic seismic shear force divided by strength reduction factor, R (${\geq}1$). Strength reduction factor generally consists of four different factors, which can account for ductility capacity, overstrength, damping, and redundancy inherent in structures respectively. In this study, R factor is assumed to account for only the ductility rather than overstrength, damping, and redundancy. The R factor considering ductility is called "ductility factor" ($R_{\mu}$). This study proposes ductility factor with correction factor, C, which can account for dynamic P-${\Delta}$ effect. Correction factor, C is established as the functional form since it requires computational efforts and time for calculating this factor. From the statistical study using the results of nonlinear dynamic analysis for 40 earthquake ground motions (EQGM) it is shown that the dependence of C factor on structural period is weak, whereas C factor is strongly dependant on the change of ductility ratio and stability coefficient. To propose the functional form of C factor statistical study is carried out using 79,920 nonlinear dynamic analysis results for different combination of parameters and 40 EQGM.

The purpose of the present study was to examine the efficacy and mechanism of the PAB (para-amino benzamidine) affinity column chromatography, Viresolve NFP virus filtration, pasteurization (60$\^{C}$ heat treatment for 10 h), and lyophilization steps employed in the manufacture of urokinase from human urine as regards the removal and/or inactivation of the hepatitis A virus (HAV). Samples from the relevant stages of the production process were spiked with HAV and subjected to scale-down processes mimicking the manufacture of urokinase Samples were collected at each step, immediately titrated using a 50% tissue culture infectious dose (TCID$\_$50/), and the virus reduction factors evaluated. PAB chromatography was found to be an effective step for removing HAV with a log reduction factor of 3.24. HAV infectivity was rarely detected in the urokinase fraction, while most of the HAV infectivity was recovered in the unbound and wash fractions. HAV was completely removed during the Viresolve NFP filtration with a log reduction factor of $\geq$ 4.60. Pasteurization was also found to be an effective step in inactivating HAV where the titers were reduced from an initial titer of 7.18 log$\_$10/ TCID$\_$50/ to undetectable levels within 10 h of treatment. The log reduction factor achieved during pasteurization was $\geq$ 4.76. Lyophilization revealed the lowest efficacy for inactivating HAV with a log reduction factor of 1.48. The cumulative log reduction factor was $\geq$ 14.08. Accordingly, these results indicate that the production process for urokinase exhibited a sufficient HAV reducing capacity to achieve a high margin of virus safety.
In this study, a runoff hydrograph and runoff volume were calculated by using the kinetic wave theory for small urban watersheds based on the concept of low impact development(LID), and the effective imperviousness was estimated based on these calculations. The degree of sensitivity of the effective imperviousness of small watersheds to the impervious to pervious area ratio, infiltration capability, watershed slope, roughness coefficient and surface storage depth was then analyzed. From this analysis, the following conclusions were obtained: The effective imperviousness and paved area reduction factor decreased as the infiltration capability of pervious area increased. As the slope of watersheds becomes sharper, the effective imperviousness and the paved area reduction factor display an increasing trend. As the roughness coefficient of impervious areas increases, the effective imperviousness and the paved area reduction factor tend to increase. As the storage depth increases, the effective imperviousness and the paved area reduction factor show an upward trend, but the increase is minimal. Under the conditions of this study, it was found that the effective imperviousness is most sensitive to watershed slope, followed by infiltration capability and roughness coefficient, which affect the sensitivity of the effective imperviousness at a similar level, and the storage depth was found to have little influence on the effective imperviousness.
This researcher selected basic variable to investigate the effective relations of establishment and management of resting facility on reduction of constructional disasters and safety accidents and improvement of working efficiency for construction workers. Based on the measured variables, this researcher investigated phenomenon, recognition and satisfaction for using and demanding resting facility by long-term construction in construction site for workers of huge construction site in Seoul, conducted survey of total 219 questionnaires so as to grasp implications of workers' resting facility demanded in long-term huge construction site and effects on reduction of disasters and conducted structural equation analysis. As a result, resting faciity factor, management factor, and hygienic service factor were significant and resting and food factors were not significant. Therefore, it's expected to reduce personal disaster by improving quality of constructional resting facility, hygienic service, and resting facility management and especially, resting facility management factor makes lots of effects on prevention of personal disasters, so it was a strongly main factor. By suggesting the guideline of establishment and management service of proper resting facility through this research, positive recognition and constructional disaster reduction can be expected in construction site.
Multigrid method has been used widely to solve elliptic problems because of its applicability to many class of problems and fast convergence ([1], [3], [9], [10], [11], [12]). The estimate of convergence rate of multigrid is one of the main objectives of the multigrid analysis ([1], [2], [5], [6], [7], [8]). In many problems, the convergence rate depends on the regularity of the solutions([5], [6], [8]). In this paper, we present an improved estimate of reduction factor of multigrid iteration based on the proof in [6].
The purpose of this study was to discover the effects of clothing involvement and risk perception, which can influence risk reduction behavior. The subjects of this study were young male consumers living in Seoul and Kyunggi-do who had purchased fashion products from an Internet shopping mall. Questionnaires were collected from July 1, 2018 to July 8, 2018 and 300 questionnaires were used in the data analysis. The data was analyzed utilizing a factor analysis, a regression, ANOVA and a Duncan-test. The results of this study were as follows. Clothing involvement factors influenced various risk perceptions and risk perception influenced risk reduction behaviors. Among the various risk perception factors, psychological risk was the most important factor, which was influenced by clothing involvement factors. The usage of media was the most important factor, which was influenced by various risk perception factors. Finally clothing involvement and risk perception influenced risk reduction behaviors. Among the various risk reduction factors, the usage of media was the most important factor, which was influenced by clothing involvement and risk perception factors.
In the single-phase switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive, the required DC source is generally supplied by the circuit consisting of bridge rectifier and large filter capacitor connected with DC line terminal. Due to the large capacity of the capacitor, the charged time of capacitor is very short from the AC source. Lead to the bridge rectifiers draws pulsating current from the AC source side, which results in reduction of power factor and low system efficiency. Therefore a novel single-phase SRM drive system is presented in this paper, which includes drive circuit realizing reduction of torque ripple and improvement of power factor with a novel switching topology. The proposed drive circuit consists of one switching part and diode, which can separate the output of AC/DC rectifier from the large capacitor and supply power to SRM alternately, in order to realize the torque ripple reduction and power factor improvement through the switching scheme. In addition, the validity of the proposed method is tested by some simulations and experiments.
A novel torque ripple reduction scheme of single-phase SRM with high power factor is presented. The proposed SRM drive has one additional active switches in the conventional asymmetric inverter. In order to get a higher power factor, the source current is controlled sinusoidal, And additional excitation current is added from charge capacitor due to torque ripple reduction. The switching period of source and charged voltage is controlled properly to get unity power factor and torque ripple reduction. The characteristics and validity of the proposed scheme is discussed with some simulation results.
Cracking of slabs will be caused by applied load and volume changes during the life of a structure and thus it reduces flexural stiffness of slabs. The effect of slab cracking must be considered for appropriate modeling of the flexural stiffness for frame members used in structural analysis. Analytical and experimental study was undertaken to estimate the stiffness reduction of slabs. In the analytical approach, the trend of slab stiffness reduction related to gravity and lateral loads is found and the stiffness reduction factor ranged from a half to a quarter in ACI building code is reasonable when defining range. Analyzing results of the test by Hwang and Moehle for 0.5% drift show that the differences of rotational stiffness on the connection types is found and good results of lateral stiffness using the value of one-third is obtained.
The main objective of this study was to derive a formula of ductility reduction factor, expressed as $R{\mu}$. To attain this objective, a study comprised reduction factors computed for stiffness degrading systems undergoing different levels of ductility and to investigate an accuracy of the formula. Based on this study, the main conclusions can be summarized :(1) The ductility reduction factor is primarily affected by the period of the system and the displacement ductility ratio. (2) The proposed formula is simpler and the inelastic deformations of bridge structures are better than those by the others formulas we used before.
