  • The mercury film thin layer flow cell (MFTLFC) which yielded the highest sensitivity for the electrochemical reduction of doxorubicin was constructed by coating the glassy carbon working electrode (GCE; $A=0.208cm^2$) with $5{\mu}L$ of HgO coating solution (0.5% HgO + 0.25% polystyrene/cyclohexanone) and subsequently followed by applying a potential of -0.40 V for 300 sec in the flow stream of an acetate buffer of pH 4.5. The voltammogram of doxorubicin reached the diffusion current plateau at -0.53 V vs. a Ag/AgCl (3 M NaCl) in the MFTLFC. The diffusion current (Id) of doxorubicin at the MFTLFC was 1.7 times greater than the Id obtained at the TLFC employing a bare glassy carbon working electrode. When the peak areas (electric charge) were plotted vs. concentrations of standard anthracyclines, the calibration factors of doxorubicin and daunorubicin were $1.12{\times}10^8{\mu}C/M$ (coefficient of determination; $R^2$: 0.969) and $0.98{\times}10^8{\mu}C/M$> ($R^2$: 0.999), respectively in the concentration range between $1.0{\times}10^{-8}M$ and $1.0{\times}10^{-6}M$.

  • This paper describes the design of size-reduced directional coupler using the artificial dielectric substrate and its increased effective permittivity. Directional couplers are widely used in measuring RF power indirectly and coupling signal power. Artificial dielectric substrates have higher effective dielectric constant than standard dielectric substrate due to the lots of metalized via-holes, and the increased effective permittivity results in size-reduction of circuits. As a design example, 15dB directional couplers are designed on the standard substrate and artificial dielectric substrate and their size are compared. The size of the directional coupler using the artificial dielectric substrate is only 1/3 of that designed using the standard substrate, while the performances are preserved. In addition, the measured performances of the size-reduced coupler are well agreed with the simulated ones. The measured coupling coefficient, matching, and insertion loss at 2GHz are -14.62dB, -24.1dB, and -0.38dB, respectively.

  • Recently, the case to construct the structure on the soft clayey ground has increased and in order to the reduction of the cost of construction and maintenance on the social infrastructure facilities we have been trying to improve the soft clayey ground using the existing methods such as the pre-loading method and the vertical drain method. Like this, when various ground improvement methods are applied on the soft clayey ground, a long-term consolidation settlement will be key issue due to low permeability coefficient of cohesive soil. According to existing research results that relate to the consolidation settlement, the loading periods for existing the standard consolidation test (Oedometer test) to obtain the consolidation parameters are needed for minimum ten days or more. Therefore, in this study, the standard consolidation test (24 hours step-loading) and constant strain rate consolidation test changed by strain rate was performed using the remolded marine clay on Gwangyang bay composed of a soft clayey ground of the south-west coast. From the laboratory test results, the characteristics of compression, strain-effective stress relations by constant strain rate and the variation characteristic of the pore water pressure by different of loading speed and the relation between consolidation parameters and constant strain rate are compared and analyzed.

  • The purpose of this study is to assess the future hydrological and water quality change of Man-gyeong river basin (1,602 ㎢) based on future extreme climate change scenarios and reduction of inter-basin water transfer amount using SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool). The SWAT was calibrated (2012~2014) and validated (2016~2018) at 2 water level observation stations (DC, JJ) and 2 water quality observation stations (SR, GJ) considering inter-basin water transfer amount, stream water withdrawal, and point source data. For the streamflow, the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.70 and the average Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) was 0.51 respectively. For the water quality of SS, T-N, and T-P, the R2 was 0.72, 0.80 and 0.72 respectively. The future average streamflow under climate change scenarios increased up to 459 mm/yr, and average SS, T-N and T-P yields also increased up to 19,548 ton/yr, 68,748 kg/yr, and 13,728 kg/yr respectively. When the amount of inter basin water transfer decreased, the streamflow especially decreased in spring and winter periods, and the future water quality yields increased under the influence of precipitation. In order to solve the deterioration of water quality due to decrease in the flow rate and an increase in the load, the amount of inter basin water transfer should be maintained to a certain level.

  • In the present study, it were performed an unconfined compression test and a field applicability test according to a mixed ratio of SS, soil type and curing period to analyze strength and deformation characteristic in order to evaluate engineering characteristics of soil mixed pavements using the eco-friendly soil stabilizer (SS). The test results revealed that SS mixed soil shows fast strength development at the initial curing time while 28-day strength amounted for 97% of the final strength. Furthermore, coarse-grained dredged sand (DS) and weathered granitic soil (WGS) have a larger ratio of deformation coefficient with respect to unconfined compressive strength than fine-grained dredged clay (DC) and organic soil (OS). Moreover, a comparison test between natural and forced drying conditions was conducted and test result showed 54% to 67% of strength degradation while having 55% to 63% of strength degradation in the freezing and thawing test result. Finally, a repeated loading test result showed that DS experiences up to 35% of strength reduction compared to initial strength under 10,000 times loading in maximum. Thus, it was validated that an appropriate amount of fine-grained sand is necessary to secure resistance capability to repeated loading.

  • Chloramphenicol was studied by differential pulse polarography (DDP). A reduction peak which is dependent on pH of the solution appeared in the voltage range between zero and -1.50 volt vs. Ag/AgCl (sat. KCl) reference electrode. A plot of peak potentials (Ep) measured at room temperature (20$^{\circ}C$) vs. pH of the chloramphenicol solutions showed linear relationship changing slope (Ep/pH) at pH 8.9. The slope was -59.7 mV/pH in pH 2.7∼8.9 and -24.3 mV/pH in pH 8.9∼11.2, respectively. A log plot of peak currents (ip) vs. concentrations showed a linearity at the concentrations between 4.8 ${\times}$ 10$^{-7}$ M and 6.2 ${\times}$ 10$^{-5}$ M (0.16 ppm∼20 ppm) chloramphenicol in pH 8.0 ammonium buffer. Between the DPP method and the reference method measuring absorbance at 278 nm, the correlation coefficient was 0.996, which means an excellent linearity. The DPP method was able to detect degradation products of chloramphenicol in mild alkaline solution (pH = 8.0) more distinctly than the spectrophotometric method.

  • The purposes of this paper are to present a selection method of neighboring pixels whose local statistics are similar to the center pixel and combine the selection result with mean curvature diffusion filter to reduce noises in remote sensed imagery. The order of selection of neighboring pixels is critical, especially for finding a pixel belonging to the homogeneous region, since the statistics of the homogeneous region vary according to the selection order. An effective strategy for selecting neighboring pixels, which uses rank-order differences vector obtained by computing the intensity differences between the center pixel and neighboring pixels and arranging them in ascending order, is proposed in this paper. By using region growing method, we divide the elements of the rank-ordered differences vector into two groups, homogeneous rank-ordered differences vector and outlier rank-ordered differences vector. The mean curvature diffusion filter is combined with a line process, which chooses selectively diffusion coefficient of the neighboring pixels belonging into homogeneous rank-ordered differences vector. Experimental results using an aerial image and a TerraSAR-X satellite image showed that the proposed method reduced more efficiently noises than some conventional adaptive filters using all neighboring pixels in updating the center pixel.

  • This study analyzed the effects of labor aging on labor productivity using panel statistics of 16 local governments from 1995 to 2017. The aging of the labor force, defined as the proportion of workers aged 60 or older in total employment, in the results of the panel regression analysis considering regional fixed effects and various adjustment variables, has a very consistent and significant negative effect on labor productivity. For every 1% increase in aging, labor productivity decreases by about 0.14 ~ 0.20%. In addition, the per capita capital stock and human capital considered as adjustment variables contributed to the increase of labor productivity, and the unemployment rate, which is a proxy variable of the economic fluctuation, has a significant negative effect on labor productivity as expected. The coefficient of the industrial structure, which represents the share of the service industry in the whole industry, was positive, but is not significant. The results of this study suggest that the design and construction of economic and educational policies that can maintain and expand human capital are necessary to curb the reduction in labor productivity expected by the aging workforce.
