Optimal Speed Control of Hybrid Electric Vehicles

  • The main objective of this paper is to control the speed of Nonlinear Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) by controlling the throttle position. Various control techniques such as well known Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller in conjunction with state feedback controller (SFC) such as Pole Placement Technique (PPT), Observer Based Controller (OBC) and Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) Controller are designed. Some Intelligent control techniques e.g. fuzzy logic PD, Fuzzy logic PI along with Adaptive Controller such as Self Organizing Controller (SOC) is also designed. The design objective in this research paper is to provide smooth throttle movement, zero steady-state speed error, and to maintain a Selected Vehicle (SV) speed. A comparative study is carried out in order to identify the superiority of optimal control technique so as to get improved fuel economy, reduced pollution, improved driving safety and reduced manufacturing costs.

영구자석형 동기전동기의 저속도 영역에서 제어 성능 개선 (Improvement of Control Performance of PMSM in the low Speed Range)

  • 본 논문은 축소차원 상태방정식을 사용한 전차원 관측기를 이용하여 저속도 영역에서의 운전 성능 개선방법을 제안하였다. 축소차원 상태방정식을 사용한 전차원 관측기는 간단한 모터속도 및 외란토크 관측기이다. 제안한 알고리즘은 약 1.9[rpm]의 저속도에서 매우 안정적인 결과를 보였다. 모터구동 시스템에서 외란토크는 저속도 영역에서 속도제어 성능을 저하시킨다. 제안한 알고리즘은 모터속도와 외란토크를 모두 추정한다. 추정된 외란 토크는 속도제어기의 출력에 전향보상 값으로 사용되며, 그 결과 저속도 영역(1.9rpm)에서 부하토크 응답특성이 향상된 것을 확인하였다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 Navier-Stokes 유체와 같은 대용량 문제를 위한 최적화 기법의 개발에 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 reduced Hessian sequential quadratic programming을 개발하였다. 첫째, 유체의 해석을 위한 평형 방정식을 최적화 과정에서 제거하여 변수를 줄였고, 또한 평형방정식과 최적화 과정에서 연속기법을 사용하여 최적해를 보장하면서 더욱 해에 쉽게 접근하도록 하였다. 그리고 각 단계에서는 테일러 시리즈를 이용한 근사치를 이용하여 각 단계에서 대단히 좋은 초기치 값을 제공하여 최적해에 더욱 빠르게 접근하게 하고 아울러 유체의 평형방정식을 풀 때에도 해에 더욱 빠르고 쉽게 접근하도록 하였다. 이 기법을 항력을 줄이기 위한 유체의 최적 제어를 위한 문제에 적용하였다. 유체의 흐름을 제어하기 위하여 물체의 경계면에서 유체의 흡입(suction)과 방축(injection)이라는 기법을 사용하여 경계면에서 속도를 제어하였고, 목적함수로써 항력을 표현하기 위하여 에너지 소실의 변화율을 사용하였다. 예제를 통해 본 연구에서 개발한 최적화 기법의 효용성을 입증하였다.

  • 일반적으로 대부분의 실제 시스템은 복잡하고, 외란이나 불완전한 지식에 영향을 받으며, 비선형 특성을 가지고 있다. 이러한 시스템을 제어하기 위해 현대제어 이론에 기초한 제어기가 연구되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 제어이론과 제어기를 산업현장에 검증 없이 곧 바로 적용하면 시스템의 손상이 발생할 수 있으므로 모의실험을 통한 검증이 반드시 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 산업현장의 불안정과 비선형성을 대표할 수 있는 시소시스템을 모형대상으로 설정하여 RCGA기반의 상태피드백 제어기와 상태관측기를 설계하여 이들을 결합한 제어시스템을 설계한다. 다양한 초기조건과 외란에 대한 시뮬레이션을 통해 제어시스템의 유효성을 확인한다.

Growth Response to Acid Rain, Mg Deficiency and Al Surplus, and Amelioration of Al Toxicity by Humic Substances in Pitch Pine Seedlings

  • The individual and combined effects of acidic rain, Mg deficiency (-Mg) and Al surplus (+Al) on the growth of shoots and roots of pitch pine seedlings and the effect of humic substances (Lit) on Al toxicity were investigated. The growth of height and dry matter were not significantly less for pitch pine seedlings sprayed with simulated acid rain (SAR) of pH 3.5 than for those sprayed with SAR of pH 5.6. But treatments of Al and +Al-Mg in soil solution reduced the growth of seedlings in terms of height of shoots, and dry matter of shoots or roots. Effect of Mg deficiency on the growth of seedlings was apparent only when Al was treated simutaneously. The growth of seedlings, regardless of rain pH, decreased in the following order: control=-Mg>Lit+Al>+Al>+Al-Mg. Treatments of Al and +Al-Mg in soil solution reduced the total length of secondary and teritary roots of seedlings regardless of rain pH, and decreased in the following order: the primary root

  • This paper presents a simple methodology for reducing the order of H$_{\infty}$ controllers in the mixed sensitivity control problems. The key point of this methodology is to transform the generalized plant expression to new one, where the control object and the weighting functions for the sensitivity function may have some poles on the imaginary axis. So that, this methodology makes it possible to use the standard method to solve the general H$_{\infty}$ design problems about the mixed sensitivity problems, even for a servo system or a oscillatory system. We derive that the order of H$_{\infty}$ controllers designed by this methodology may be reduced to n$_{p}$ where n$_{p}$ is the order of the denominator of the control object. It is clear that n$_{p}$ is lower than n$_{p}$ + n$_{s}$, which is the order of H$_{\infty}$ controllers obtained by the ordinary H$_{\infty}$ design method up to now, where n$_{s}$ is the order of the denominator of the weighting function for sensitivity.   • A method of model reduction for reducing a higher order Z-transfer function to its lower order model is developed based on the Block - pulse function. The approach is following : I. Block - pulse function can be applied for Z-transfer function of linear digital system described by high order. II. To determined both the coefficients of the denominator and numerator of reduced model. The proposed method is simple for computation, can preserve the dynamic characteristic of the original model satisfactorily.

  • Model reduction from high order systems to low order systems in frequency domain is considered four point (${\angle}$G(jw)=0, - ${\pi}/2$, ${\pi}$, and -3${\pi}$/2) instead of two point (${\angle}$G(jw) = - ${\pi}$/2,- ${\pi}$) of existing method in Nyquist curve. The Performances of reduced order model by proposed approach is similar to original model. In this paper, we proposed a new tuning algorithm for PID controller using model reduction in frequency domain. Simulations for some examples with varies dynamic characteristics are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed tuning algorithm for PID controller using model reduction.

  • In this paper, we discuss a design method of iterative learning control systems for parabolic linear distributed parameter systems(DPSs). First, we discuss some aspects of boundary control of the DPS, and then propose to employ the Karhunen-Loeve procedure to reduce the infinite dimensional problem to a low-order finite dimensional problem. An iterative learning control(ILC) for non-square transfer function matrix is introduced finally for the reduced order system.

  • This paper proposes a swing-arm type dual-stage actuator, which consists of a PZT actuator for fine motion and a VCM(Voice Coil Motor) for coarse motion, for SFF ODD(Small Form Factor Optical Disk Drive), in order to achieve fast access speed and precise track following control. We focus our attention on the design and control of the PZT actuator, because there have been a lot of previous researches related to the VCM and dual-stage actuators. Due to the dual cantilever structure, the PZT actuator can generate precise translational tracking motion at its tip where optical pickup is attached at, and the effect of hysteric behavior of the PZT element is reduced. The dynamic model of the PZT actuator is derived by using the Hamilton's principle, and verified by comparing with the experimental frequency response. The sliding mode control is designed in order to be robust against modeling uncertainties. Simulations and experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the suggested control scheme.
