올레핀(Olefin) 생산 공정에서 발생하는 이산화탄소 배출 저감을 위한 신기술 적용 효과 (Contribution of Advanced or Alternative Process to Carbon-Dioxide Emission Reduction in Olefin Production Plant)

  • 플라스틱에서부터 의약품에 이르기까지 대부분 일상 제품의 핵심적 기초 원료가 되는 경질올레핀은 한 국가의 경제규모와 성장을 예측할 수 있는 중요한 지표이다. 이러한 경질올레핀을 생산하는 NCC (Naphtha Cracking Center) 기술은 석유 관련 기간산업 중에서 가장 많은 에너지를 소비하는 공정으로 다량의 $CO_2$를 발생 시킨다. 본 연구에서는 다량으로 방출되는 $CO_2$를 감축, 저감시킬 수 있는 새로운 NCC 공정의 기술 수준과 개발 현황 및 기술 적용 가능성을 검토하였으며, 새로운 기술이 적용될 경우 $CO_2$ 저감 효과 및 그에 따른 탄소배출권, 그리고 에너지 절감양 등을 정량적으로 산출 하였다. 그 결과 고급 NCC 기술을 적용하면 기존 NCC 공정의 총 에너지 소비량의 약 35%를 줄일 수 있어 연간 약 330만톤의 $CO_2$ 감축과, 약 1,280억원의 탄소배출권 및 중유 약 152만 kL를 줄일 수 있다. 또한 촉매 접촉 분해 기술을 적용하면 연간 최대 약 380만톤의 $CO_2$를 저감할 수 있고 1,470억원 규모의 탄소배출권 및 약 174만 kL의 중유 소비를 줄 일 수 있다.

첨단차량 도입 시를 고려한 환경적 효과의 정량적 분석 방법론 개발 (Development of Quantitative Analysis Methodology on Environmental Effect through Adaptation of Advanced Safety Vehicle)

  • 도로 용량은 제한적이나 교통수요의 증가로 인해 지체가 발생하고 온실가스 배출량을 증대시킨다. 최근 온실가스를 감축하기 위한 노력의 일환으로 청정개발체계 등이 활용되고 있다. 그러나 교통부문의 청정개발체계 채택사례는 아직 미흡한 실정이다. 교통부문의 청정개발체계를 활성화하기 위해서는 온실가스 배출량 산정방법론 관련 추가적인 연구의 필요성이 제기된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 청정개발체계 승인 기관인 유엔에서 채택하고 있는 베이스라인 방법론을 바탕으로 ITS 서비스 중 첨단차량 및 도로 도입 시 온실가스를 정량적으로 산정하는 방법론을 개발하였다. 교통량과 통행시간의 관계식인 BPR 함수식을 이용하여 첨단의 자동운전차량들로 구성된 교통상황과 일반 차량들로 구성된 교통상황에서의 통행시간을 각각 산출하여 속도를 비교 검토하였다. 산정된 속도 값을 국내의 도로상황을 잘 반영한 국립환경과학원의 차종별 연료별 온실가스 배출계수 식에 적용하여 $CO_2$ 배출량을 산정하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 방법론의 타당성을 입증하고자 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 시뮬레이션을 수행한 결과, 안정류일 때는 첨단차량으로 구성된 도로의 $CO_2$ 배출량이 일반차량의 $CO_2$ 배출량보다 증가하는 경향을 보였으나 교통량이 용량에 근접하는 불안정류일 때는 첨단차량의 $CO_2$ 배출량이 일반차량의 $CO_2$ 배출량에 비해 현격히 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 불안정류 교통상황에서 시스템의 도입으로 인해 용량이 증대됨으로서 많은 교통수요를 처리하고 도로이용의 효율성이 향상됨을 알 수 있다.

바이오 디젤 적용에 따른 대형엔진의 배출가스 특성 (The Emission Characteristics of Bio-Diesel Fuel in Heavy-Duty Engine)

  • Recently, a great deal of attention have been directed to the use of alternative fuels as a means to reduce vehicular emissions. As one of the promising alternative fuels, bio-diesel has advantages of a wide adaptability without retrofit of diesel engine. It is also effective enough to reduce CO, THC, $SO_x$, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and PM. In this study, we investigated the emission characteristics of biofuels between different operating conditions, i.e., engine speed (1,400 rpm and 2,300 rpm), engine load (10% and 100%), bio-diesel blending (BD0, BD5 and BD20), and recirculation (EGR) rate of exhaust gas (0% and 20%). Relative performance of the system was evaluated mainly for the greenhouse gases ($CH_4$, $N_2O$ and $CO_2$). In addition, emission characteristics of ND-13 mode were also tested against both greenhouse gases and other airborne pollutants under emission regulation. The relative composition of bio-diesel has shown fairly clear effects on the emission quantities of CO, THC, and PM emission, although it was not on $NO_x$ and greenhouse gases. EGR rate has shown trade-off characteristics between $NO_x$ and PM.

  • The environmental problems such as global climate change, global waming, ozone depletion, environmental pollution have been caused by the rapid economic growth, increasing in use of fossil fuels for industrialization and scientific technology development. Especially human activities are significantly altering the atomosphere's composition and its radiative properties. To Stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system, the international community adopted the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in 1992 and Kyoto protocol in 1997. Also to protect ozone layer the international community adopted the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer in 1985, and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer in 1987. To achieve global environmental objectives, some multilateral environmental agreements includes trade regulation. For example, Montreal Protocol includes the provisions to regulate the world trade of the sudstances which might destroy ozone layer. However Kyoto Protocol has no provisions to regulate trade and is not in force yet. Although there is no trade regulation article in Kyoto Protocol, the international world trade will be influenced by limitation and reduction of CO2 and strengthening the CO2 emission standard for import good. For example Korean car industy agreed with EU to reduce CO2 emission from new passenger car and Korean Semiconductor industry agreed with WSC(World Semiconductor Council) to reduce PFCs in 1999.

고지재상연구 (제5보) -공정수 폐쇄화를 위한 칼슘경도 조절- (Recycling of Wastepaper(V): -Calcium Hardness Control of Process Water for Zero-Discharge System-)

  • A new technique for recycling of white water was developed in order to reduce the calcium hardness in a closed OCC recycling system. Calcium ions present in the white water were precipitated as calcium carbonate by reacting with sodium carbonate, and the precipitated $CaCO_3$ was removed from the system using a flotation fractionation method, which has been commonly used in deinking process. In the flotation stage, a mixed gas of $CO_2$-air was purged into the flotation cell because the pH of $Na_2CO_3$-treated white water was reduced to neutral by $CO_2$ gas. Since $CaCO_3$ precipitate tends to stick onto fine fiber surface and then selectively removed from the white water, a proper amount of suspended solid in white water acts as an important factor for deciding the removal efficiency. By the application of $Na_2CO_3$ addition-$CO_2$ flotation to the short circulated white water, the calcium hardness was significantly reduced by 87% and more. Removal of calcium ions with fine fibers led to a drainage improvement, reduction of fresh water consumption, and enhanced efficiency of wet-end chemicals.

Reaction and Coordination Chemistry of Ferrocenylaminophosphines with Iron Carbonyls

  • The reaction and coordination chemistry of chiral ferrocenylaminophosphines such as 2-(diphenylphosphino)-1-(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl) ferrocene (PPFA), and 1',2-bis(diphenylphosphino)-l-(N,N-dimethylaminoe thyl) ferrocene (BPPFA), with various iron carbonyls have been investigated. PPFA reacted with iron carbonyls, Fe$(CO)_5$, $Fe_2(CO)_9$, or $Fe_3(CO)_{12}$ to give an iron complex of the type (${\eta}^1$-PPFA-P)Fe$(CO)_4$ (1) as a single product regardless the choice of the iron carbonyls. The bisphosphine ligand BPPFA afforded two products (${\eta}^1$-BPPFA-P)Fe$(CO)_4$ (2) and (${\mu}$,${\eta}^1$-BPPFA-P,P)$Fe_2(CO)_8$ (3) in which BPPFA acts as a monodentate and a bridging ligand, respectively. In all cases coordination to the -Fe$(CO)_4$ moiety is made through the phosphine rather than the amino group and, in the case of 2, the coordination is made through the phosphine substituted at the $C_5H_4$ ring to reduce the steric congestion.

Estimated CO2 Emissions and Analysis of Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) as an Alternative Fuel

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a $CO_2$ emission factor for refuse plastic fuel (RPF) combustion facilities, and calculate the $CO_2$ emissions from these facilities. The $CO_2$ reduction from using these facilities was analyzed by comparing $CO_2$ emission to facilities using fossil fuels. The average $CO_2$ emission factor from RPF combustion facilities was 59.7 Mg $CO_2$/TJ. In addition, fossil fuel and RPF use were compared using net calorific value (NCV). Domestic RPF consumption in 2011 was 240,000 Mg/yr, which was compared to fossil fuels using NCV. B-C oil use, which has the same NCV, was equal to RPF use. In contrast, bituminous and anthracite were estimated at 369,231 Mg/yr and 355,556 Mg/yr, respectively. In addition, the reduction in $CO_2$ emissions due to the alternative fuel was analyzed. $CO_2$ emissions were reduced by more than 350 Mg $CO_2$/yr compared to bituminous and anthracite. We confirmed that using RPF, an alternative fuel, can reduce $CO_2$ emissions.

  • Depending on the industrialization, construction market has grown buildings are based on concrete will continue to increase. But the problems of environmental pollution come to the fore with the indiscriminate use of concrete and rapid development. In addition, carbon dioxide(CO2) in the process of producing cement being emitted a large amount of has been caused a serious problem of environmental pollution. This trend is being actively conducted research to reduce the use of cement. In this study, eco-friendly materials, such as flats, Blast-furnace slag by mix and cement review the mechanical characteristics of the mudflats eco-friendly cement mortar to reduce the usability of the review were seen as a green building material.

  • The mechanical endurance is the critical characteristic of Magnetic contactors (MCs), which are widely used in such industrial equipments as elevators, cranes, and factory control rooms in order to close and open the control circuit. Testing time, however, is so long in most cases that some method of reducing the testing period is required. Therefore, the degradation test by the detected vibration of MCs is developed to reduce the testing time in this work. The degradation test data are analyzed and the prediction model is provided. Also, the possibility of this technology for Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) will be shown. This will reduce the period of the product development and raise the reliability of the equipment in power distribution.

  • In reinforced concrete constructions, reinforcing bar generates more CO2 per unit weight than other construction materials. In particular, cutting and bending rebar is the main source of rebar waste in the construction industry. Rebar-cutting waste is inevitable during the construction of a reinforced concrete structure since the rebar is not manufactured as designed. Large amounts of waste can be avoided by utilizing optimal cutting patterns and schedules. This research provides a fundamental analysis of the automatic calculation of column rebar length using BIM-based shape codes to minimize cutting waste to near zero. By employing this approach in practice, it is possible to minimize the rate of rebar-cutting waste, reduce costs, shorten construction duration, and reduce CO2 emissions. In addition, the development of this research will serve as a clue for the development of BIM-based rebar layout automation algorithms.
