Polymer concrete (PC) using unsaturated polyester resins based on recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic waste were used in our study for grasping its mechanical properties such as compressive strength, tensile strength and flexural strength, etc. by changing its quantity of resin, filler and dilution(SM) respectively. As a result of it, compressive, tensile and flexural strength of PC indicated 752kgf/$cm^2$, 80kgf/$cm^2$, and 243kgf/$cm^2$, kind of satisfaction successively. Judging from the above results, polymer concrete (PC) using unsaturated polyester resins as a coupling are suitable for construction material both in the aspect of ECO-building materials and in the aspect of superior strength of PC so that it is good possibility of success as a product.
This study was performed to evaluate engineering properties of carbon and glass fiber reinforced recycled polymer concrete. Fiber reinforced recycled polymer concrete were used recycled aggregate as coarse aggregate, natural aggregate as fine aggregate, $CaCO_3$ as filler, unsaturated polyester resin as binder, and carbon and glass fiber as fibers. The compressive and flexural strength of carbon fiber reinforced recycled polymer concrete were in the range of 68~81.5 MPa and 19.1~21.5 MPa at the curing 7days. Also, the compressive and flexural strength of glass fiber reinforced recycled polymer concrete were in the range of 69.4~85.1 MPa and 19~20.1 MPa at the curing 7days. Abrasion ratio of carbon and glass fiber reinforced recycled polymer concrete were decreased 21.6 % and 11.6 % by fiber content 0.9 %, respectively. After impact resistance test, drop numbers of initial and final fracture were increased with increase of fiber contents. Accordingly, carbon fiber and glass fiber reinforced recycled polymer concrete will greatly improve the hydraulic structures, underground utilities and agricultural structures.
In this study, we investigated the durability properties of the recycled leather using shaving scrap with antioxidant. Recycled leather sheets were manufactured by mixing shaving scrap and NB latex as a binder. HALS(Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer) and UVA(UV absorbers) were used as antioxidant. Mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength, elongation, tear strength and abrasion resistance were measured. Light aging resistance was evaluated using UV lamp and the degree of discoloration of the recycled leather sheets using a gray scale. In addition, to evaluate heat aging and UV aging, the degree of discoloration of the recycled leather sheets over time was measured using colorimeter. Washing fastness was evaluated on the degree of dyeing of recycled leather sheets for six type of multi-fiber woven fabrics (Acetate, Cotton, Nylon-66, Polyester, Acryl, Wool). To determine whether hazardous substances were detected in recycled leather sheets, the contents of arylamine and Cr 6+ were evaluated. As a result, when used in combination with antioxidant, the heat aging and light aging of recycled leather were improved and hazardous substance were not detected.
This paper deals with a reduction in the setting shrikage of polymer concrete using bentonite as shrinkage reducing agent. This study with polymer concrete using unsaturated polyester(UP) based on recycled PET waste was performed to verify the effect of various shrinkage reducing agent contents and the types of filler which are fly ash and $CaCo_3$. Setting stress induced by setting shrinkage was investigated in temrs of mechanical and chemical combination.
In general, polymer concrete has more excellent mechanical properties and durability than Portland cement concrete, but very sensitive to heat and has large deformations. In this study, the long-term creep behaviors was predicted by the short-term creep test, and then the characteristic of creep of recycled-PET polymer concrete was defined by material and experimental variables. The error in the predicted long-term creep values is less than 5 percent for all polymer concrete systems. The filler carry out an important role to restrict the creep strains of recycled PET polymer concrete. The creep strain and specific on using the CaCO3 were less than using fly-ash. the creep increases with an increase in the applied stress, but not proportional the rate of stress increase ratio. The creep behavior of polymer concrete using recycled polyester resin is not a linear viscoelastic behavior.
Recycl ing of PP/EPR based bumper coated with polyester urethane paint has been per formed by chemical decoating method. Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (ESP11 has been applied to characterize the deformation of polyolef in based bumper. In additon, physical properties and processability of recycled materials have been investigated by dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, impact test and melt flower index measurement. The results show that the deformation ratio of recycled material is higher than that of virgin one. The morphological change of EPR, degree of distribution and dispersion during the recycling process seem to be the most important factor for the deformation and the mechanical properties of recycled materials. The experimental results obtained show that ESPI is very powerful technique to study the thermal mechanical property of polyolefin bumper system.
Geotextile composites to improve the weather ability were composed of recycled polyester geotextile with carbon black as ultraviolet stabilizer and polypropylene geotextile by needle-punching method, and evaluated physical properties, ultraviolet resistance and chemical stability. Retention ratio of tensile properties of non woven polypropylene geotextiles were decreased about 50% by the exposed condition with ultraviolet but those of geotextile composites were slightly decreased than polypropylene geotextiles. Geotextile composites which have larger weights of polyester geotextile were more stable against ultraviolet. For chemical stability, the changes of tensile properties of geotextile composites were in the range of -20~+10% at the various chemical conditions.
Recently, polymer-clay hybrid materials have received considerable attention from both a fundamental research and application point of view. This organ-inorganic hybrid, which contains a nanoscale dispersion of the layered silicates, is a material with greatly improved thermal and mechanical characteristics. Two classes of nanocomposites were synthesized using an unsaturated polyester resin as the matrix and sodium montmorillonite as well as an organically modified montmorillonite as the reinforcing agents. X -ray diffraction pattern of the composites showed that the interlayer spacing of the modified montmorillonite were exfoliated in polymer matrix. The mechanical properties also supported these findings, since in general, tensile strength, modulus with modified montmorillonite were higher than the corresponding properties of the composites with unmodified montmorillonite. Adding organically modified clay improved the tensile strength of unsaturated polyester by $22\%$ and the tensile modulus of unsaturated polyester was also improved by $34\%$.
This study investigates the changes inconsumer sensibility and product preferences according to theirecofriendly productperceptions. Stimulants (released by three companies of sport casual brands)include three shirts made of recycled polyester and three made of organic cotton. A surveymethod was used to respond to the emotion and image while watching the presented pictures of the clothes. The change in the reactions was analyzed before and after the presentation of eco-friendliness information. The questionnaire consists of sensibility adjectives, open-ended questions about the associated image of eco-friendliness, color attractiveness, product favorability, price satisfaction, and reasons for an eco-friendly productpurchase. The survey was conducted on 200adult male and female participants. Two factors ('eco' and 'design')were identifiedthrough the factor analysis of image adjectives. There was a statistically significant increase in the evaluation of sensibility, color attractiveness, product favorability, and price satisfactiondue to the re-evaluation of the same products after consumers recognized the eco-friendly information of apparel products. When consumers recognize products aseco-friendly, they evaluate the products more positively than before. The result of the analysis of the increases by textile materials shows no significant difference in the sensibility changes depending on the materials. However, with regard to 'eco', the increase of sensibility change for organic cotton products was larger than for recycled polyester products.
This study analyzed the sensibility of eco-friendly fabrics for college students and investigated their attitude on environmental problems, trust reliability onto eco-apparel products, and their purchase state. We tested 6 eco-friendly fabrics (recycled polyester, organic cotton, green tea, charcoal, bamboo, and nettle) through a survey using the Likert scale of 12 polar sensibility words. Most fabrics showed feelings that were smooth, natural, female, and country these were followed by fashion, cheap, functional, sustainable, warm, and vintage. In addition, nettle fabric showed 'rough' feeling, and recycled polyester fabric showed an 'artificial' feeling. Correspondence analysis showed the distance and direction between fabric types and sensibility words with a 2D diagram where the X axis was named with 'Soft <-> Hard' and Y axis was with 'Environmental <-> Manmade' to represent the relationship between fabric types and the sensibility words. According to the results of the multiple regression analysis, the cognition level of the consumer for environmental problems was found to be the most influential variable on the loyalty purchase of eco-friendly products; however, the trust reliability level of consumer onto eco-friendly apparel products was found to be the most influential variable on the conditional purchase of eco-friendly apparel products.
