Vibration analysis of a thin-walled structure can be performed with a consistent mass matrix determined by the shape functions of all degrees of freedom (d.o.f.) used for construction of conventional stiffness matrix, or with a lumped mass matrix. In similar way stability of a structure can be analysed with consistent geometric stiffness matrix or geometric stiffness matrix with lumped buckling load, related only to the rotational d.o.f. Recently, the simplified mass matrix is constructed employing shape functions of in-plane displacements for plate deflection. In this paper the same approach is used for construction of simplified geometric stiffness matrix. Beam element, and triangular and rectangular plate element are considered. Application of the new geometric stiffness is illustrated in the case of simply supported beam and square plate. The same problems are solved with consistent and lumped geometric stiffness matrix, and the obtained results are compared with the analytical solution. Also, a combination of simplified and lumped geometric stiffness matrix is analysed in order to increase accuracy of stability analysis.
The reinforced high-strength-concrete beam subjected to flexure moment behaves more brittly than the moderate-strength-concrete beam reinforced with equal reinforcement ratio($\rho$/$\rho_b$). Test results show that when the concrete strength exceeds 830kg/$cm^2$, the maximum reinforcement ratio should be less than $0.6{\rho}_b$ for ductile behavior (${\rho}_b$=balanced steel ratio). The ratio of flexural strength between experimental results and analytical results with rectangular stress block decrease as the compressive strength of concrete increase. The shape of the compressive stress block distributed triangularly. because the ascending part of the stress-strain curve shows fairly linear response up to maximum stress in contrast to the nonlinear behavior of the medium and low strength specimens.
CFT structures require a diaphragm to prevent buckling of steel at connections. An outer diaphragm has better concrete filling than a through diaphragm due to a large bore, but due to the larger size than the through diaphragm, it has poorer constructability and cooperation with building equipment. The building structure has a floor slab that was unified with the upper diaphragm, so the outer diaphragm was placed at the upper bound. Moreover, the through diaphragmwas placed at the lower connection to avoid obstruction of the building equipment. The CFT structure with the improved concrete filling showed the same structural behavior as the CFT structure with the use of the same type of diaphragms at the upper and lower connections.

In this paper, a new method of noncontact measurement has been developed for a 3 dimensional topography in semiconductor wafer, implementing a new optical probe based on the precision defocus measurement. The developed technique consists of the new optical probe, precision stages, and the measurement/control system. The basic principle of the technique is to use the reflected slit beam from the specimen surface, and to measure the deviation of the specimen surface. The defocusing distance can be measured by the reflected slit beam, where the defocused image is measured by the proposed optical probe, giving very high resolution. The distance measuring formula has been proposed for the developed probe, using the laws of geometric optics. The precision calibration technique has been applied, giving about 10 nanometer resolution and 72 nanometer of four sigma uncertainty. In order to quantitize the micro pattern in the specimen surface, some efficient analysis algorithms have been developed to analyse the 3D topography pattern and some parameters of the surface. The developed system has been successfully applied to measure the wafer surface, demonstrating the line scanning feature and excellent 3 dimensional measurement capability.
This study offers a Monte Carlo alternative for computing mass energy absorption coefficients of any material through calculation of photon energy deposited per mass of the sample and the energy flux obtained inside a sample volume. This approach is applied in this study to evaluate mass energy absorption coefficients of some amino acids found in human body at twenty-eight different photon energies between 10 keV and 20 MeV. The simulations involved a pencil beam source modeled to emit a parallel beam of mono-energetic photons toward a 1 mean free path thick sample of rectangular parallelepiped geometry. All the components in the problem geometry were surrounded by a 100 cm vacuum sphere to avoid any interactions in materials other than the absorber itself. The results computed using the Monte Carlo radiation transport packages MCNP6.2 and GAMOS5.1 were checked against the theoretical values available from the tables of XMUDAT database. These comparisons indicate very good agreement and support the conclusion that Monte Carlo technique utilized in this fashion may be used as a computational tool for determining the mass energy absorption coefficients of any material whose data are not available in the literature.
The existence of active material in the environment causes the small-scale systems to be sensitive to the actual environment. Carbon dioxide is one of the active materials that exists a lot in the air conditions of the living environment. However, in some applications, the carbon dioxide-coated is used to improve the performance of systems against the destructive factors such as the corrosion; nevertheless, in the current research, the stability analysis of a carbon dioxide capture mechanism-coated beam is investigated according to the mathematical simulation of a rectangular composite beam utilizing the modified couple stress theory. The composite mechanism of carbon dioxide trapping is made of a polyacrylonitrile substrate that supports a cross-link polydimethylsiloxane gutter layer as the carbon dioxide mechanism trapping. Three novel types of carbon dioxide trapping mechanism involving methacrylate, poly (ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate, and three pedant methacrylates are considered, which were introduced by Fu et al. (2016). Finally, according to introducing the methodology of carbon dioxide (CO2) trapping, the impact of various effective parameters on the stability of composite beams will be analyzed in detail.
In this study, a simple method for the determination of the shear correction factor for composites beam with a rectangular cross section is presented. The plane stress elasticity assumption is used after simplifications of the expression of the stress distribution in the beam. The different fiber orientation angle and volume fraction are considered in this work. The studied structure is subjected to various loading type (thermal and hygrothermal). The numerical results obtained show that there is a dependence of the shear coefficient on the orientation of the fibers. The evolution of the shear correction factors depends not only on the orientation of the fibers and also on the volume fraction and the environment. the advantage of this developed formula of the shear correction factor is to obtain more precise results and to consider several parameters influencing this factor which are neglected if the latter is constant.
Reinforced concrete (RC) deep beams are critical structural elements used in offshore pile caps, rectangular cross-section water tanks, silo structures, transfer beams in high-rise buildings, and bent caps. As a result of the low shear span ratio to effective depth (a/d) in deep beams, arch action occurs, which leads to shear failure. Several studies have been carried out to improve the shear resistance of RC deep beams and avoid brittle fracture behavior in recent years. This study was performed to investigate the behavior of RC deep beams numerically and experimentally with different reinforcement arrangements. Deep beams with four different reinforcement arrangements were produced and tested under monotonic static loading in the study's scope. The horizontal and vertical shear reinforcement members were changed in the test specimens to obtain the effects of different reinforcement arrangements. However, the rebars used for tension and the vertical shear reinforcement ratio were constant. In addition, the behavior of each deep beam was obtained numerically with commercial finite element analysis (FEA) software ABAQUS, and the findings were compared with the experimental results. The results showed that the reinforcements placed diagonally significantly increased the load-carrying and energy absorption capacities of RC deep beams. Moreover, an apparent plastic plateau was seen in the load-displacement curves of these test specimens in question (DE-2 and DE-3). This finding also indicated that diagonally located reinforcements improve displacement ductility. Also, the numerical results showed that the FEM method could be used to accurately predict RC deep beams'behavior with different reinforcement arrangements.
The high strength materials have been more widely used in reinforced concrete structures, specially, the reinforcing steel is permitted to used in RC structures up to yielding strength of 600 MPa. The strength of materials in RC beam section effects on the behavior and ductility of the RC members. In this study, the numerical analysis has been conducted to obtain the complete moment-curvature relation and the curvature ductility factor for the rectangular RC beams sections under the various reinforcement conditions and the effects of concrete strength, yield strength of reinforcement steel on the behavior and the curvature ductility factor of RC beam sections have been evaluated. The compressive strength of concrete and yield strength of steel have effected in various manner on the behavior and the curvature ductility factor of RC beam sections under reinforcement conditions. In the case of beam sections with equal resisting moment. the curvature ductility factor of RC beam section decreased with an increase in the yield strength of steel and increased with an increase in the concrete strength. When the yield strength of steel increased from 400 MPa to 600 MPa, the curvature ductility factor reduced about 30% and as the concrete strength increased from 30 MPa to 70 MPa, the curvature ductility factor of RC beam section increased about 3 times.
Multileaf collimator (MLC) is now rapidly replacing the lead ahoy block to shape the radiation treatment field. In addition to its defect of rectangular field shaping and increased penumbra width, it has another possible problem, and that is of radiation transmission between leaves, which needs to be maintained at as low a level as is permissible. The authors measured and analyzed the inter-leaf and cross-leaf transmissions of MLC by Varian Associates Inc, before its clinical application. The inter-leaf and cross-leaf transmissions were calculated by comparing the measured point doses in the polystyrene phantom in the open field and in a total closure of MLC. The beam profile of the inter-leaf and cross-leaf transmissions were depicted by using a water phantom. A photon beam of 6 MV was used in the measurement. The inter-leaf transmission was 1.63∼1.67%, indicating that the shielding effect of MLC is excellent. However, the cross-leaf transmission in the central area was 18.4∼18.7% and this is well over the clinically acceptable limitation of 5%. The beam profile of cross-leaf transmission displayed 80∼90% transmission near the field edge, so that the cross-leaf transmission was 14∼17% in this area. The multileaf collimator has an excellent shi디ding effect and the inter-leaf transmission is negligible so that it can be used in clinic as a good replacement of the conventional lead alloy block. However, care must be taken to avoid the cross-leaf transmission in the radiation field.
