Video Palmprint Recognition System Based on Modified Double-line-single-point Assisted Placement

  • Palmprint has become a popular biometric modality; however, palmprint recognition has not been conducted in video media. Video palmprint recognition (VPR) has some advantages that are absent in image palmprint recognition. In VPR, the registration and recognition can be automatically implemented without users' manual manipulation. A good-quality image can be selected from the video frames or generated from the fusion of multiple video frames. VPR in contactless mode overcomes several problems caused by contact mode; however, contactless mode, especially mobile mode, encounters with several revere challenges. Double-line-single-point (DLSP) assisted placement technique can overcome the challenges as well as effectively reduce the localization error and computation complexity. This paper modifies DLSP technique to reduce the invalid area in the frames. In addition, the valid frames, in which users place their hands correctly, are selected according to finger gap judgement, and then some key frames, which have good quality, are selected from the valid frames as the gallery samples that are matched with the query samples for authentication decision. The VPR algorithm is conducted on the system designed and developed on mobile device.

  • This paper describes development of a real-time voice recognition dialing system which can recognize around one hundred word vocabularies in speaker independent mode. The voice recognition algorithm is implemented on a DSP board with a telephone interface plugged in an IBM PC AT/486. In the DSP board, procedures for feature extraction, vector quantization(VQ), and end-point detection are performed simultaneously in every 10msec frame interval to satisfy real-time constraints after the word starting point detection. In addition, we optimize the VQ codebook size and the end-point detection procedure to reduce recognition time and memory requirement. The demonstration system is being displayed in MOBILAB of Korea Mobile Telecom at the Taejon EXPO '93.

도로시설물 관리를 위한 교통안전표지 인식 및 자동위치 취득 방법 연구 (The Road Traffic Sign Recognition and Automatic Positioning for Road Facility Management)

  • PURPOSES: This study is to develop a road traffic sign recognition and automatic positioning for road facility management. METHODS: In this study, we installed the GPS, IMU, DMI, camera, laser sensor on the van and surveyed the car position, fore-sight image, point cloud of traffic signs. To insert automatic position of traffic sign, the automatic traffic sign recognition S/W developed and it can log the traffic sign type and approximate position, this study suggests a methodology to transform the laser point-cloud to the map coordinate system with the 3D axis rotation algorithm. RESULTS: Result show that on a clear day, traffic sign recognition ratio is 92.98%, and on cloudy day recognition ratio is 80.58%. To insert exact traffic sign position. This study examined the point difference with the road surveying results. The result RMSE is 0.227m and average is 1.51m which is the GPS positioning error. Including these error we can insert the traffic sign position within 1.51m CONCLUSIONS: As a result of this study, we can automatically survey the traffic sign type, position data of the traffic sign position error and analysis the road safety, speed limit consistency, which can be used in traffic sign DB.

한국 청소년과 학부모의 성역할인지와 성교육요구에 관한 조사연구 (The Study of the Recognition of Sexual Roles and the Demand of Sexual Education by the Korean Junior Students and their Parents)

  • The study was attempted to survey the recognition of sexual roles and the demand of sexual education. The period was May 1st through June 15th, 1998 and the subjects were 377 junior students and 251 parents in Pusan. This study was based on questionnaire which focused on the Han and Lee's inquiry. The analysis of collected data was executed by using SPSS/PC+. The results were as follows : (1) The average point as to the 12 items of recognition of sexual roles regarding the occupational functions by the boys was 2.92 which was higher than that of the girls(1.85). The average point as to the 14 items of recognition of sexual roles regarding the attitudes by the boys was 2.91 which was higher than that of the girls(2.13). The average point as to the 14 items of recognition of sexual roles regarding the abilities by the boys was 2.93 which was higher than that of the girls(1.96). The point as to the item of androgyny among the demand of sexual education by the girls was 3.17 which is higher than that of the boys(2.93). (2) The parents showed the higher recognition toward androcentrism than the students and the parents showed the higher demand of the overall sexual education than the students. (3) 15.7% of the students was engaged in the masturbation. The students who answered that their parents had known the masturbation by their children were 16.9%. The 59 masturbaters consisted of the boys(91.5%) and the girls(8.5%), and that showed significant difference. (4) The opinions about the well-qualified teacher of sexual education by the subjects were studied as under: 16.7% of the parents supported the nurse-teacher, meanwhile 24.7% of the students supported the nurse-teacher.

최적화된 PRBFNNs 패턴분류기와 PCA알고리즘을 이용한 3차원 얼굴인식 알고리즘 설계 : 진화 알고리즘의 비교 해석 (Design of Three-dimensional Face Recognition System Using Optimized PRBFNNs and PCA : Comparative Analysis of Evolutionary Algorithms)

  • 본 논문에서는 다항식 기반 RBFNNs를 이용하여 3차원 얼굴인식 알고리즘을 설계하고 인식률을 산출하는 방법을 제시한다. 2차원 얼굴인식의 경우 얼굴 포즈, 조명 등과 같은 외부 환경에 의해 인식률이 저하된다. 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해 3차원 영상을 획득하여 얼굴인식을 수행한다. 얼굴인식을 수행하기 전에 3D스캐너를 통해 얻은 얼굴영상의 포즈 보상을 실시하고 얼굴의 형상을 정면으로 향하게 한다. 그리고 Point Signature 기법을 이용하여 얼굴의 깊이 값을 추출하게 된다. 추출된 데이터는 고차원 데이터로서 학습 및 인식을 수행함에 있어 문제가 생길 수 있기 때문에 PCA알고리즘을 수행하여 차원을 축소한 데이터를 사용한다. 효율적인 학습을 위해 최적화 알고리즘을 통해 파라미터 최적화를 수행하며 PSO, DE, GA 알고리즘을 사용하여 인식 성능을 확인한다.

신경회로망을 이용한 동적 손 제스처 인식에 관한 연구 (A Study on Dynamic Hand Gesture Recognition Using Neural Networks)

  • This paper deals with the dynamic hand gesture recognition based on computer vision using neural networks. This paper proposes a global search method and a local search method to recognize the hand gesture. The global search recognizes a hand among the hand candidates through the entire image search, and the local search recognizes and tracks only the hand through the block search. Dynamic hand gesture recognition method is based on the skin-color and shape analysis with the invariant moment and direction information. Starting point and ending point of the dynamic hand gesture are obtained from hand shape. Experiments have been conducted for hand extraction, hand recognition and dynamic hand gesture recognition. Experimental results show the validity of the proposed method.

  • Face recognition technologies using PCA(principal component analysis) recognize faces by deciding representative features of faces in the model image, extracting feature vectors from faces in a image and measuring the distance between them and face representation. Given frequent recognition problems associated with the use of point-to-point distance approach, this study adopted the K-nearest neighbor technique(class-to-class) in which a group of face models of the same class is used as recognition unit for the images inputted on a continual input image. This paper proposes a new PCA recognition in which database of faces.

시공간 신경회로망을 이용한 연속 숫자음 인식 (Continuous digits recognition using spatio-temporal neural network)

  • In this paper, a new approach for continuous digits recognition using the Spatio-Temporal Neural Network (STNN) is reported. The continuous seven digits are gargeted to recognize, and our initial recognition rate was 28%. In this paper, to increase the recognition rate, two methods are proposed. In the first method, to compensated the STNN's own defect as well as to emphasize the Korean digits' phonic characteristics, the starting point ofeach digit is detected using the energy and zero-crossing rate, but the ending point is detectedonly using the energy value. In this case, the seven digits recognition reate increased to 61%. Furthermore, in the second method, considering the fact that a same digit could be pronounced differently in continuously spoken environment, the number of STNNs used to represent each digit is increased from one to five. Consequently, the same digit but pronounced differently could be handled well in the new system. As a result of that, the continuously spoken seven digits recognition rate increased to 89%.

Hough Transform과 부분 그래프 패턴을 이용한 한글 인식에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Hangul Recognition Using Hough Transform and Subgraph Pattern)

  • 본 논문에서는 부분 그래프 패턴과 신경망을 이용한 새로운 한글 오프라인 인식 시스템을 제안하였다. 문자를 입력으로 받아 세선화를 행한 후 위치에 관한 잡음 제거 기능을 갖는 균형화를 수행하고 인식단의 첫번째 단계에서 순환 성분을 추출하고 인식한다. 부블럭 HT 공간에서 끝점, 굴곡점, 분기점의 특징점을 추출하고 추출된 특징점 사이의 관계를 조사하여 부분 그래프 패턴을 구성한다. 종모음이 올 수 있는 구역을 할당하고 종모음 후보점을 추출하여 미리 조사된 부분 그래프 패턴 사전과 비교하여 종모음을 추출한다. 같은 방법으로 횡모음을 추출한 후 간단한 구조 해석적 방법으로 모음을 인식한다. 본 논문의 성능비교를 위하여 실험은 활자체의 경우 가장 많이 쓰이는 명조체와 고딕체 그리고 필기체를 대상으로 한다. 고딕체의 경우 인식율 98.9%, 명조체의 경우 인식율 98.2%, 필기체의 경우 92.5% 이었다. 다중 자형 인식을 위하여 필기체와 활자체의 구분 없이 구한 전체 시스템의 인식율은 94.8% 이었다.
