Real-time Obstacle Avoidance for Silvermate Robot

  • This paper proposes the Elastic Force application on the obstacle avoidance of the Silvermate Robot. The method deals with the problem associated with the Silvermate robot driving to a goal configuration as avoiding obstacles. The initial trajectory of a robot is determined by a motion planner, and the trajectory modification is accomplished by adjusting the control points. The control points are obtained based on the elastic force approach. Consequently the trajectory of a robot is incrementally modified to maintain a smooth and adaptive trajectory in an environment with obstacles. The suggested algorithm drivers the robot to obstacle avoid in real-time. Finally, the simulation studies are carried out to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach

  • This paper presents a new solution approach to moving obstacle avoidance problem of a robot. A new concept, avoidability measure(AVM) is defined to describe the state of a pair of a robot and an obstacle regarding the collision between them. As an AVM, virtual distance function(VDF) is derived as a function of three state variables: the distance from the obstacle to the robot, outward speed of the obstacle relative to the robot, and outward speed of the robot relative to the obstacle. By keeping the virtual distance above some positive limit value, the robot avoids the obstacle. In terms of the VDF, an artificial potential is constructed to repel the robot away from the obstacle and to attract the robot toward a goal location. At every sampling time, the artificial potential field is updated and the force driving the robot is derived from the gradient of the artificial potential field. The suggested algorithm drives the robot to avoid a moving obstacle in real time. Since the algorithm considers the mobility of the obstacle and robot as well as the distance, it is effective for moving obstacle avoidance. Some simulation studies show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • There are many challenging problems in mobile robot navigation. As an example, a mobile robot may wander around in local minimum and may wiggle when it moves through a narrow corridor. In addition, the real time obstacle avoidance and the posture control of mobile robot are also very improtant problems. To address these problems, a navigation algorithm which is composed o freal time obstacle avoidance algorithm and a global path planner (GPP) that genrates the shortest path is presented. In this paper, the global path planner reduce the calculation time by reducing the dta to be handled. Also it can make a real time obstacle avoidance by using the fuzzy logic inference. So the presented algorithm provide a stable navigastion for the mobile robot when it fall into the unstable navigation.

  • This paper presents a delayed time path planning method of the Autonomous Mobile Robot using fuzzy logic controller for avoidance of obstacles in unknown environment. It is the objective of this paper to develop fuzzy control algorithms using delayed time techniques to deal with moving obstacles randomly. This control method gives the benefit of the collision free movement in real time and optimal path to the pre-settled goal. The computer simulations are demonstrated the effective of the suggested control method in obstacle avoidance.

  • In this study, we propose a new approach to impliment autonomous travelling of mobile robot based on obstacle avoidance and voice command. Obstacle Avoidance technology of mobile robpot. It has been used in wide range of different robotics areas to minimize the risk of collisions. Obstacle avoidance of mobile robots are mostly applied in transportation systems such as aircraft traffic control, autonomous cars etc. Collision avoidance is a important requirement in mobile robot systems where they all featured some kind of obstacle detection techniques in order to avoid colliding. In this paper it was illustrated the reliability of voice command and obstacle avoidance for autonomous travelling of mobile robot with two wheels as the purpose of application to the manufacturing process by simulation and experiments.

  • In this paper, a real-time obstacle avoidance for mobile robot based on the readings of the ultrasonic sensors is presented. The twenty eight ultrasonic sensors are arranged in ring and controlled by microprocessor. The readings of the ultrasonic sensor is converted into the virtual forces called repulsive forces, which are the elastic and damping forces. Then, the direction and speed of mobile robot in the cluttered environment are determined by the virtual forces. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified from a series of simulation studies.

Internet-based Real-time Obstacle Avoidance of a Mobile Robot

  • In this research, a remote control system has been developed and implemented, which combines autonomous obstacle avoidance in real-time with force-reflective tele-operation. A tele-operated mobile robot is controlled by a local two-degrees-of-freedom force-reflective joystick that a human operator holds while he is monitoring the screen. In the system, the force-reflective joystick transforms the relation between a mobile robot and the environment to the operator as a virtual force which is generated in the form of a new collision vector and reflected to the operator. This reflected force makes the tele-operation of a mobile robot safe from collision in an uncertain and obstacle-cluttered remote environment. A mobile robot controlled by a local operator usually takes pictures of remote environments and sends the images back to the operator over the Internet. Because of limitations of communication bandwidth and the narrow view-angles of the camera, the operator cannot observe shadow regions and curved spaces frequently. To overcome this problem, a new form of virtual force is generated along the collision vector according to both distance and approaching velocity between an obstacle and the mobile robot, which is obtained from ultrasonic sensors. This virtual force is transferred back to the two-degrees-of-freedom master joystick over the Internet to enable a human operator to feel the geometrical relation between the mobile robot and the obstacle. It is demonstrated by experiments that this haptic reflection improves the performance of a tele-operated mobile robot significantly.

  • 자율 주행 로봇에서 장애물 회피 기능은 핵심적인 것이다. 포텐셜 필드는 이 분야에 가장 많이 사용되어온 방법이다. 이것은 장애물의 최근접 점을 실시간으로 계산해야 하는데 이를 위해 거리 센서 데이터 프로파일로 부터 안정적으로 장애물 영역을 분할해야 하는 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서는 분할 없이 각 장애물의 최근접 점을 실시간으로 구할 수 있는 Active Min-Depth Filter를 제안한다. 다양한 센서 노이즈 환경에 대한 시뮬레이션을 통해 Active Min-Depth Filter의 강인성을 확인할 수 있었고 실제 이동 로봇 적용하여 성공적인 결과를 얻었다.

  • This paper presents a new approach to obstacle avoidance for mobile robot in unknown or partially unknown environments. The method combines two navigation subsystems: low level and high level. The low level subsystem takes part in the control of linear, angular velocities using a multivariable PI controller, and the nonlinear position control. The high level subsystem uses ultrasonic and IR sensors to detect the unknown obstacle include static and dynamic obstacle. This approach provides both obstacle avoidance and target-following behaviors and uses only the local information for decision making for the next action. Also, we propose a new algorithm for the identification and solution of the local minima situation during the robot's traversal using the set of fuzzy rules. The system has been successfully demonstrated by simulations and experiments.
