  • It is necessary to have enough transmission capacity for advanced internet techniques and various digital home appliances networking. Home appliances interface IEEE1394 technique has much wealthy transmission skill. IEEE1394 is using home appliances through various information form image and voice change data real time print out. In this paper, AVC CTS technology and IEEE1394 technology are introduced. Digital Video Camera includes compression format using DV. System composition control is consisted of protocols like IEC-61883 and AV/C command set standard.

Cellular Traffic Offloading through Opportunistic Communications Based on Human Mobility

  • The rapid increase of smart mobile devices and mobile applications has led to explosive growth of data traffic in cellular network. Offloading data traffic becomes one of the most urgent technical problems. Recent work has proposed to exploit opportunistic communications to offload cellular traffic for mobile data dissemination services, especially for accepting large delayed data. The basic idea is to deliver the data to only part of subscribers (called target-nodes) via the cellular network, and allow target-nodes to disseminate the data through opportunistic communications. Human mobility shows temporal and spatial characteristics and predictability, which can be used as effective guidance efficient opportunistic communication. Therefore, based on the regularity of human mobility we propose NodeRank algorithm which uses the encounter characteristics between nodes to choose target nodes. Different from the existing work which only using encounter frequency, NodeRank algorithm combined the contact time and inter-contact time meanwhile to ensure integrity and availability of message delivery. The simulation results based on real-world mobility traces show the performance advantages of NodeRank in offloading efficiency and network redundant copies.

  • This paper proposes and evaluates a scheme which enhances real-time performance on the Ethernet-based residential network where cable length is very short and most of traffic passes through a specific device. The scheme aims at enhancing deadline meet ratio of the real-time traffic, for example, video stream by means of applying the functionalities such as queue discrimination and early packet discard as well as maintaining network load properly. The design includes the description on hardware interfaces along with the software modules such as scheduler, device driver and connection manager. The simulation results via SMPL suggest that the proposed network can be used as a cost-effective residential network. We also measure the permissible bandwidth for non-real-time traffic without degrading the performance of real-time traffic.

  • This paper proposes and analyzes a message scheduling scheme and corresponding bandwidth allocation method for the hard real-time communication on dual standard 802.11 Wireless LANs. By making the superframeof one network precede that of the other by half, the dual network architecture can minimize the effect of deferred beacon and reduce the worst case waiting timeby half. The effect of deferred beacon is formalized and directly considered to decide the polling schedule of PCF phase. Simulation results executed via ns-2 show that the proposed scheme can improve the schedulability by 3$36\%$ for real-time messages and give $9\%$ more bandwidth to non-real-time messages for the given stream sets, compared with the network whose bandwidth is just doubled with the same MAC.

  • For recent years, data broadcast technology has been recognized as a very effective data delivery mechanism in mobile computing environment with a large number of cli;ents. Especially, a hybrid broadcast algorithm in real-time environment, which integrates one-way broadcast and on-demand broadcast, has an advantage of adapting the requests of clients to a limited up-link bandwidth and following the change of data access pattern. However, previous hybrid broadcasting algorithms has a problem in the methods to get a grip on the change of data access Pattern. It is caused by the diminution of requests for the data items which are contained in periodic broadcasting schedule because they are already broadcasted. To solve this problem, existing researches may remove data items in periodic broadcasting schedule over a few cycles multiplying cooling factor or find out the requests of data items with extracting them on purpose. Both of them are the artificial methods not considering the property of data. In this paper, we propose a real-time adaptive hybrid broadcasting based on data type(RTAHB-DT) to broadcast considering data property and analysis the performance of our aigorithm through simulation study.

Load-Balanced One-hop Overlay Multipath Routing with Path Diversity

  • Overlay routing has emerged as a promising approach to improve reliability and efficiency of the Internet. For one-hop overlay source routing, when a given primary path suffers from the link failure or performance degradation, the source can reroute the traffic to the destination via a strategically placed relay node. However, the over-heavy traffic passing through the same relay node may cause frequent package loss and delay jitter, which can degrade the throughput and utilization of the network. To overcome this problem, we propose a Load-Balanced One-hop Overlay Multipath Routing algorithm (LB-OOMR), in which the traffic is first split at the source edge nodes and then transmitted along multiple one-hop overlay paths. In order to determine an optimal split ratio for the traffic, we formulate the problem as a linear programming (LP) formulation, whose goal is to minimize the worse-case network congestion ratio. Since it is difficult to solve this LP problem in practical time, a heuristic algorithm is introduced to select the relay nodes for constructing the disjoint one-hop overlay paths, which greatly reduces the computational complexity of the LP algorithm. Simulations based on a real ISP network and a synthetic Internet topology show that our proposed algorithm can reduce the network congestion ratio dramatically, and achieve high-quality overlay routing service.

System Networking for the Monitoring and Analysis of Local Climatic Information in Alpine Area (강원고랭지 농업기상 감시 및 분석시스템 구축)

  • In order to monitor local climatic information, twelve automated weather stations (AWS) were installed in alpine area by the Alpine Agricultural Experiment Station, Rural Development Administration (RDA), at the field of major crop located in around highland area, and collected data from 1993 to 2000. Hourly measurements of air and soil temperature (underground 10 cm,20 cm), relative humidity, wind speed and direction, precipitation, solar radiation and leaf wetness were automatically performed and the data could be collected through a public phone line. Datalogger was selected as CR10X (Campbell scientific, LTD, USA) out of consideration for sensers' compatibility, economics, endurance and conveniences. All AWS in alpine area were combined for net work and daily climatic data were analyzed in text and graphic file by program (Chumsungdae, LTD) on 1 km $\times$ 1 km grid tell basis. In this analysis system, important multi-functionalities, monitoring and analysis of local climatic information in alpine area was emphasized. The first objective was to obtain the output of a real time data from AWS. Secondly, daily climatic normals for each grid tell were calculated from geo-statistical relationships based on the climatic records of existing weather stations as well as their topographical informations. On 1 km $\times$ 1 km grid cell basis, real time climatic data from the automated weather stations and daily climatic normals were analyzed and graphed. In the future, if several simulation models were developed and connected with this system it would be possible to precisely forecast crop growth and yield or plant disease and pest by using climatic information in alpine area.

  • The mobility model is one of the most important factors that impacts the evaluation of any transportation vehicular networking protocols via simulations. However, to obtain a realistic mobility model in the dynamic urban environment is a very challenging task. Several studies extract mobility models from large-scale real data sets (mostly taxi GPS data) in recent years, but they do not consider the statuses of taxi, which is an important factor affected taxi's mobility. In this paper, we discover three simple observations related to the taxi statuses via mining of real taxi trajectories: (1) the behavior of taxi will be influenced by the statuses, (2) the macroscopic movement is related with different geographic features in corresponding status, and (3) the taxi load/drop events are varied with time period. Based on these three observations, a novel taxi mobility model (T-START) is proposed with respect to taxi statuses, geographic region and time period. The simulation results illustrate that proposed mobility model has a good approximation with reality in trajectory samples and distribution of nodes in four typical time periods.

  • Recently ships and ocean platforms are becoming increasingly technological, unmanned, and huge. Maintenance and safety monitoring of these products is very important for safety reasons. Therefore, real-time monitoring of safety regions, such as the engine room, and hull structure, and environmental states, like fire and pressure of LNG tanks, is required for the sustainable ships. In this paper, a ZigBee-based wireless sensor network is suggested to monitor ships and ocean platforms effectively. However, this causes some telecommunication problems because these products are made of steel. To resolve this problem, we use the mesh networking of Zig-Bee that can monitor the regions and environmental states consistently. The telecommunication of such a monitoring system is tested on a real container ship and its performance is verified. The real-time monitoring results are displayed on the users' smart devices.
