When building a network-based real-time control system, a network-induced delay time should be surly considered for real time schedulability to be guaranteed. The network delay time on end-to-end communication has been analyzed theoretically and modeled mathematically from many previous works. There also exist any other delay element not considered before. In this paper, the remote feedback control system using the CAN protocol is proposed to control three axes´ manipulator arm and the application layer of CAN is modeled to analyze the delay elements defined by three types of time delay: Software delay time, Controller delay time, and Access delay time, in details. The analyzed results are used as an important component to determine PID gains of the proposed system. The effect of the delay time on the control performance is evaluated by com paring the response characteristics of the control system through simulation.
This paper proposes the development of delay compensator to minimize performance degradation caused by time delays in network-based real-time control systems. The delay compensator uses the time-stamp method as a direct delay measuring method to measure time delays generated between network nodes. The delay compensator predicts the network time delays of next period in the views point of time delays and minimizes performance degradation from network through considering predicted time delays. Control output considering network time delays is generated by the defuzzification of probable time delays of next period. The time delays considered in the delay compensator are modeled by using a timed Petri net model. The proposed delay prediction mechanism for the delay compensator is evaluated through some simulation tests by measuring deviation of the predicted delays from simulated delays.
The SoC and digital technology development recently enabled the emergence of information devices and control devices because the SoC present many advantages such as lower power consumption, greater reliability, and lower cost. It is required to use an embedded operating system for building control systems. So far, the Real-Time operating system is widely used to implement a Real-Time system since it meets developer's requirements. However, Real-Time operating systems reveal a lack of standards, expensive development, and license costs. Embedded Linux is able to overcome these disadvantages. In this paper, the implementation of control system platform using Real-Time Embedded Linux is described. As a control system platform, we use XScale of a Soc and build Real-Time control platform using RTAI and Real-Time device driver. Finally, we address the feasibility study of the Real-Time Embedded Linux as a Real-Time operating system for mobile robots.

Fieldbus provides a real-time data communication among field devices in the process control and manufacturing automation systems. In this paper, a Petri Net model of the 1993 draft of IEC/ISA fieldbus which is proposed as an international standard of fieldbus network is developed. Based on the Petri Net model, discrete-event simulation model of IEC/ISA fieldbus network is developed. This paper evaluates the network induced delay in the data link layer of IEC/ISA fieldbus using the simulation model. In addition, an integrated discrete-event/continuous-time simulation model of fieldbus system and distributed control system is developed. This paper investigates the real-time data processing capability of IEC/ISA fieldbus and the effect of network-induced delay to the performance of control system.

As many sensors and actuators are used in many automated systems, various industrial networks are adopted for real-time distributed control. In order to take advantages of the networking, however, the network implementation should be carefully designed to satisfy real-time requirements considering network delays. This paper presents the implementation of a remote feedback control system via Profibus-DP net work for real-time distributed control More specifically, the effect of the network delay on the control performance evaluated on Profibus-DP testbed. Also, the traditional PID gain tuning methods are used to demonstrate the feasibility of the remote feedback control.

Attacking of computer and network is increasing as information processing technology heavily depends on computer and network. To prevent the attack of system and network, host and network based intrusion detection system has developed. But previous rule based system has a lot of difficulties. For this reason demand for developing a intrusion detection system which detects and cope with the attack of system and network resource in real time. In this paper we develop a real time intrusion detection system which is combination of APEX and LS-SVM classifier. Proposed system is for nonlinear data and guarantees convergence. While real time processing system has its advantages, such as memory efficiency and allowing a new training data, it also has its disadvantages of inaccuracy compared to batch way. Therefore proposed real time intrusion detection system shows similar performance in accuracy compared to batch way intrusion detection system, it can be deployed on a commercial scale.

The real-time industrial network, often referred to as fieldbus, is an important element for building automated manufacturing systems. Thus, in order to satisfy the real-time requirements of field devices, numerous fieldbus protocols have been announced. But the application of fieldbus has been limited due to the high cost of hardware and the difficulty in interfacing with multi-vendor products. Therefore, as an alternative to fieldbus, the computer network technology, especially Ethernet (IEEE 802.3), is being adapted to the industrial environment. However, the crucial technical obstacle for Ethernet is its non-deterministic behavior that makes it inadequate for industrial applications where real-time data have to be delivered within a certain time limit. Recently, the development of switched Ethernet shows a very promising prospect for industrial application due to the elimination of uncertainties in the network operation resulting in much improved performance. This paper focuses on the application of the switched Ethernet for industrial communications. More specifically, this paper presents an analytical and experimental performance evaluation of the switched Ethernet and a case study about networked control system.

Internet is deeply rooted in everyday life and many things are performed using internet in real-world, therefore internet users increased because of convenience. Also internet accident is on the increase rapidly. The security vendor developed security system to protect network and system from intruder. Many hackings can be prevented and detected by using these security solutions. However, the new hacking methods and tools that can detour or defeat these solutions have been emerging and even script kids using these methods and tools can easily hack the systems. In consequence, system has gone through various difficulties. So, Necessity of intruder trace-back technology is increased gradually. Trace-back technology is tracing back a malicious hacker to his real location. trace-back technology is largely divided into TCP connection trace-back and IP packet trace-back to trace spoofed IP of form denial-of-service attacks. TCP connection trace-back technology that autonomously traces back the real location of hacker who attacks system using stepping stone at real time. In this paper, We will describe watermark trace-back system using TCP hijacking technique to supplement difficult problem of connection maintenance happened at watermark insertion. Through proposed result, we may search attacker's real location which attempt attack through multiple connection by real time.

For the purpose of modeling EEG signal which has nonstationary and nonlinear dynamic characteristics, this paper propose a state feedback real time recurrent neural network model. The state feedback real time recurrent neural network is structured to have memory structure in the state of hidden layers so that it has arbitrary dynamics and ability to deal with time-varying input through its own temporal operation. For the model test, Mackey-Glass time series is used as a nonlinear dynamic system and the model is applied to the prediction of three types of EEG, alpha wave, beta wave and epileptic EEG. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed model is better than that of other neural network models which are compared in this paper in some view points of the converging speed in learning stage and normalized mean square error for the test data set.
This paper describes a real-time monitoring system in Ethernet passive optical networks (EPON) that uses burst-mode fiber Bragg grating (FBG) optical sensors. The FBG interrogation unit in the optical line terminal (OLT) transmits the monitoring wavelength to optical network units (ONUs). The FBG sensor unit in each ONU returns a burst-mode monitoring signal to the OLT. As the system applies time division multiple access (TDMA), a uniform Bragg wavelength can be used to monitor the EPON system. The FBG interrogation unit analyzes the received burst-mode monitoring signals and outputs fault information on the ONU branches in EPON. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed monitoring system based on TDMA. In addition, we compared the proposed TDMA-based monitoring system with a WDMA-based monitoring system.
