In this paper, suggest mechanism measuring about parent-nodes'dealy time which cuts down cost for selecting parent-node with utilizing ISP information and locality that participate P2P live streaming service.

  • As the rapid incensement of the number of internet users has occurred recently, many multimedia application services have been emerging. To improve quality of service, traffic can be suggested to be classified with priority in EPON(Ethernet Passive Optical Network), which is supporting the multimedia application services. In this paper, multimedia application services treat bandwidth classifying device in serving both delay sensitive traffic for real-time audio, video and voice data such as VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol), and nonreal-time traffic such as BE(Best Effort). With looking through existing mechanisms, new mechanism to improve the quality will be suggested. The delay performances and packet losses of traffic achieved by supporting bandwidth allocation of upstream traffic in suggested mechanism will be analyzed with simulation.

  • This paper presents methodological and theoretical principles for constructing a machine thanslation system between Korean and Japanese. We focus our discussion on the real time computing problem of the machine translation system. This problem is characterized in the time and space complexity during the machine translation. The NARA system has the real time computing algorithm which is based on a mathematical model integrating the linguistic competence and the linguistic performance of both languages, with consequence that the system NARA has also the functional characteristic : the two-way translation mechanism.

  • In this research an induction motor vector control system was developed using Simulink and RTW(Real Time Workshop). On the Simulink window, control system is designed in the form of block diagrams, program codes are produced automatically with the RTW, then c compiler compiles the program codes. With this automatic real time program producing mechanism rapid prototyping is realized without the time-consuming manual program coding procedures.   • An implementation scheme and some improvements are proposed to adopt public-licensed operating system, Linux and de-facto world-wide network standard, TCP/IP into the field of behavior-based autonomous mobile robots. To demonstrate the needs of scheme and the improvement, an analysis is performed on a server/client communication problem with real time Linux previously proposed, and another analysis is also performed on interactions among TCP/IP communications and the performance of Linux system using them. Implementation of behavior-based control architecture on real time Linux is proposed firstly. Revised task-scheduling schemes are proposed that can enhance the performance of server/client communication among local tasks on a Linux platform. A new method of TCP/IP packet flow handling is proposed that prioritizes TCP/IP software interrupts with aperiodic server mechanism as well. To evaluate the implementation scheme and the proposed improvements, performance enhancements are shown through some simulations.

Energy-efficient Scheduling of Periodic Real-time Tasks on Heterogeneous Grid Computing Systems

  • In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient scheduling scheme for real-time periodic tasks on a heterogeneous Grid computing system. The Grid system consists of heterogeneous processors providing the DVFS mechanism with a finite set of discrete clock frequencies. In order to save energy consumption, the proposed scheduling scheme assigns each real-time task to a processor with the least energy increment. Also the scheme activates a part of all available processors with unused processors powered off. Evaluation shows that the proposed scheme saves up to 70% energy consumption of the previous method.

  • Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are formed by a great quantity of sensor nodes, which are consisted of battery-powered and some tiny devices. In WSN, both efficient energy management and Quality of Service (QoS) are important issues for some applications. Real-time services are usually employed to satisfy QoS requirements in critical environment. This paper proposes a real-time MAC (Medium Access Control) protocol with extended backoff scheme for wireless sensor networks. The basic idea of the proposed protocol employs (m,k)-firm constraint scheduling which is to adjust the contention window (CW) around the optimal value for decreasing the dynamic failure and reducing collisions DBP (Distant Based Priority). In the proposed protocol, the scheduling algorithm dynamically assigns uniform transmitting opportunities to each node. Numerical results reveal the effect of the proposed backoff mechanism.

  • The Stewart Platform is a six-degree-of-freedom in-parallel-actuated manipiulator mechanism. The kinematic behavior of parallel mechanisms shows inverse characteristics as compared that of serial mechanisms; i.e, the inverse kinematic problem of Stewart Platform is straightforward, but no closed form solution of the forward kinematic problem has been previously presented. Thus it is difficult to calculate the 6 DOF displacement of the platform from the measured lengths of the six actuators in real time. Here, a real-time estimation algorithm which solves the Stewart Platform kinematic problem is proposed and tested through computer simulations and experiments. The proposed algorithm shows stable convergence characteristics, no estimation errors in steady state and good estimation performance with higher sampling rate. In experiments it is shown that the estimation result is the same as that of simulation even in the presence of measurement noise.
