  • Sourcing Simulator is specialized form of software capable of providing great insight into merchandising decision making. It is relatively easy to learn and operate by reading the help menus, experimenting with inputs, and critically analyzing outputs. 1 see that it has great potential in a training program for new merchandisers to help them absorb the complexity of the numbers they must effectively use. The Sourcing Simulator, Version 1 that accompanies my textbook, Merchandising: Theory Principles, and Practice, 2nd ed. is the least complex version available. Two versions are available from [TC]2 - Retail version and The Retail/ Manufacturing version. The Retail Version is very similar to the Version 1. The Retail/ Manufacturing Version includes analysis of processes and costs in the manufacturing process as well as the merchandise planning component that we have discussed here. Sourcing Simulator is developed at North Carolina State University by Dr. Russ King, and available from Textile Clothing Technology Corporation $[TC]^2$, Cary, North Carolina.

  • It is well known that convections and fronts are the most effective weather systems for the vertical transport of pollutants. I used a two dimensional front model in order to investigate the mechanism of the vertical transport of atmospheric pollutants between planetary boundary layer(PBL) and free atmosphere by fronts. The main dynamic processes which contribute the vertical transport of pollutants are advection and diffusion. The transported amount of pollutant from the boundary layer to the free atmosphere increases dramatically during the developing stage of the front. 46% of pollutants are transported vertically within 12 hour and 54% are transported within 24 hour. In the meantime, compared to the total amount of pollutants transported by both advection and diffusion, about 25% (30%) less pollutants are transported when only advection (diffusion) process in included in the model. The most important mechanism for the vertical transport is vertical advection, while the vertical diffusion process plays an important role in the redistribution of pollutants in the PBL.

  • Recent advances in genome and transcriptome analysis have enabled identification of numerous members of a new class of noncoding RNA, long noncoding RNA (lncRNA). lncRNAs are broadly defined as RNA molecules greater than 200 nt in length and lacking an open reading frame. Recent studies provide evidence that lncRNAs play central roles in a wide range of cellular processes through interaction with key component proteins in the gene regulatory system, and that alteration of their cell- or tissue-specific expression and/or their primary or secondary structures is thought to promote cell proliferation, invasion and metastasis. The biological and molecular characteristics of the large majority of lncRNAs remains unknown, and it is anticipated that improved understanding of the roles played by lncRNAs in cancer will lead to the development of novel biomarkers and effective therapeutic strategies.

  • Special Libraries are not the organizations established and administered by the Library and Reading Promotion Law, but the ones organized to provide necessary knowledge and information required in the works performed by the staff of organizations. The goal of special libraries is to provide the information and materials required by the parent organizations, preferably, at the right time and in the right form. In accordance with the specialization of social structure, the number of special library has been increasing. Especially, industries need industrial information in their introduction of new management techniques and in the processes of technical development, so special libraries attached to industries have remarkably been increased. Special libraries, along with academic libraries, are the organizations providing necessary materials for the specialists who are producing knowledge of every field in the society. However, apart from academic libraries, the organizations, manpower, works, collections and services of special libraries have not been properly investigated and known. This research has tried to identify if those factors are provided for propose services. The result shows which factors are fulfilled enough or which ones need enforcement.

  • Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is a ubiquitous enzyme that plays a significant role in the clinical diagnosis of pathologic processes. Discovery of the LDH (BmLDH) gene in B. mori may shed light on its role in the biology of Lepidoptera species, and afford further understanding of the function of the enzyme. In this study, we used the bioinformatics tools to identify LDH gene in B. mori. Sequence analysis showed that BmLDH cDNA contains a 996 bp open reading frame, encoding 331 AA proteins, with seven introns. Compared with hHLDH (human heart LDH), BmLDH contained the same key active sites. Domain search and protein fold recognition analyses provide compelling evidences that the deduced protein is a LDH. Using the computer program MEGA3, we conducted a search for homologs of BmLDH among many eukaryotic species and confirmed that the BmLDH was conserved in all organisms investigated. This gene has been registered in GenBank under the accession number EU000385.

  • It is usually difficult for a single user to have all the essential knowledge on various Rapid Prototyping processes and techniques. It is therefore necessary to capture knowledge and experience of users of expert level into a decision-support system which provides quicker and more interactive way to select proper RP process and/or machine. rather than reading reports on benchmarking studies and comparing tables and graphs. In this paper two algorithms are presented, which may be used in such a decision-support system. together with its applications. The one is an extended PRES(Project Evaluation and Selection) algorithm which applies weighting factors of each attribute. The other is a LCE(Linear Confidence Equation) algorithm which is proposed to apply user's input requirements as well as weighting factors.

  • Kamp & Reyle's (1993) proposal to represent split antecedents to a plural pronoun in terms of sum- mation and abstraction is critically reviewed in this paper, In point our some weak- nesses of their analysis as well as wrong predictions they make. In propose to treat the partitive reading found in bare numeral constructions by separating the conven-tional DRS construction rules from the cognitively motivated DRS-operations at a different level. A preference rule is also proposed that would constrain the sortal structure of discourse referents when such operations as summation and abstraction are enforced at the DRS's of relevant levels. Evidence for the separate treatment of linguistically motivated processes apart from cognitively motivated ones comes from both English and Korean constructions involving definite plural pronouns and numeral classifiers.

  • 2007 Design Festival on Seongnam Living Design has been held with the theme of "You and I, We" on the basis of harmony through design. This kind of theme has the main concepts as follows: Harmony- the exhibition program that can capture our mind, Communication-the experience program not through personal work but through group work, Design Seongnam-joyful Sungnam which we have made together by regional participation design project. Especially, it also has encouraged active and voluntary participation based on the promotion of the event and design exhibition that are hosted by the universities, elementary and secondary schools that represent the downtown Seongnam. In understanding Seongnam City, it has applied the plan introducing emotional process. These are the programs, which are reading, thinking, listening, watching, touching, making, and dreaming. Through the processes of being with Seongnam by participants, it has helped people know more about Seongnam, and focused on being the exhibition understanding the members of the community Seongnam.

  • Recently, the magnitude of electronic data interchange (EDI) document processing for the handling of port logistics is abruptly being increased. The existing system processes EDI documents in a script mode, but due to a complicated script preparation procedure and low document processing efficiency, it cannot meet the demand as the usage flow of documents increases. In this paper, an EDI electronic document processing system was designed and implemented in a document scanner and mapper, which are binary form electronic document processing tools and do not require script files during the conversion of extensible markup language (XML)-based electronic documents. This new system has the merits of XML features during reading and writing with improved speed, usage convenience, and good portability on systems when compared to the conventional ones.

  • This paper does not follow the well-known critical practice of Charles Perke, Edward Brandabur and Phillip Herring who, regarding The Dead, James Joyce s earliest masterpiece, as the conclusion of Dubliners, classify Gabriel as one of the dead. Instead it concurs with such critics as William York Tindal, Kenneth Burke and Allen Tate who, interpreting The Dead as a story of Gabriel s spiritual maturation, discuss the famous snow vision at the end of the story as a signifier of his rebirth experience. A new reading of The Dead, which is the aim of this paper, examines the very processes which produce both form and content, thereby demonstrating that The Dead is a story of Gabriel s spiritual growth and that the supreme snow vision is prepared for his spirit which progresses towards a richer synthesis of life and death, a higher altitude of flight and wider horizons.
