초등학교 3학년 학생의 기초수학 능력과 읽기 능력의 상관 분석 (An analysis of the correlation between the fundamental mathematical capability and the reading capability of the elementary 3rd graders)

  • The purpose of this study is to extract some suggestions in developing the elementary students' abilities to solve the fundamental mathematical problems by analyzing the degree of the correlation between the fundamental mathematical capability and the reading capability of the elementary 3th graders. In order to achieve this goal, this article analyzed the correlation between the fundamental mathematical capability and the reading capability on the basis of the studying result about the diagnostic evaluation conducted on 20,556 elementary 3th graders by the KICE as a national level basic scholastic achievement evaluation. The coefficient of correlation between the fundamental mathematical capability and the reading capability was .621. As such, it shows that the reading capability plays an important role in solving the fundamental mathematical problems. Particularly, the coefficient of correlation between the corollary arguments and the problem solving ability and the reading capability was the highest among the sub-capabilities of fundamental mathematical capability. In addition, judging from the result that the coefficient of correlation between the practical understanding capability and the solving capability of the fundamental mathematical problems was .528, it informs that the practical understanding capability takes an' important part in developing the fundamental mathematical capability of the elementary students. The results of this study support the hypothesis that the understanding capability plays the very important role in solving the fundamental mathematical problems. In particular, the results suggest that it is necessary that the pupils should be simultaneously supported not only by the capability of the mathematical basis, but also by the reading capability, especially the practical understanding capability about the problems, in order to develop the capability to solve the fundamental mathematical problems.

공학 Reading & Writing 교재 개발 및 학습성과 분석 (Development of an Engineering Reading & Writing Textbook and Analysis of Study Outcomes)

  • The authors have developed a reading & writing textbook for engineering students to improve their communication capability, and also analyzed the outcomes that the students accomplished through the Engineering Reading and Writing class. The reading & writing textbook has been organized to be used as a guidebook with which the engineering students can practically solve the problems that they would face continuously after they finish their regular curriculum and when they are employed. The questionnaire survey analysis has been performed in order to evaluate the textbook contents, lecturing, and learning outcomes for the lecturers and students finished the engineering reading and writing classes. Desirable evaluation has been resulted in the broad areas: subject extraction from the readings, logical understanding, summarizing, practical writing, writing principle, etc.

시설재배 토마토 잎의 엽록소 측정치와 토양 질소공급능력의 상호관계 (Relationship between Leaf Chlorophyll Reading Value and Soil N-supplying Capability for Tomato in Green House)

  • 질산태 질소 수준이 $55{\sim}306mg\;kg^{-1}$인 6개 시설재배 토양에 대하여 시비수준을 무비구와 표준시비구로 구분하여 토마토의 생산력과 엽록소 측정치(SPAD, Minolta 502)의 상호관계를 조사하고 덧거름 시용량 결정을 위한 식물체 검정법의 활용 가능성을 비교 검토하였다. 토마토 잎의 엽록소 측정치는 단위 엽면적 당 질소 흡수량과 유의성 있는 정의 상관관계를 보여 식물체의 질소 영양진단의 지표로 활용 가능한 것으로 확인되었다. 토마토 재배기간 동안 엽록소 측정치는 정식후 45일째 15매엽에서 최대를 보인후 감소되는 경향을 보였으며 시비수준과 질산태 질소 함량에 관계없이 동일한 경향이었다. 이러한 결과로부터 토마토의 질소 영양진단을 위한 기준시기와 기준엽위는 정식후 45일 이전과 15매엽 이하가 효율적일 것으로 생각되었다. 정식후 40일째 14매엽의 엽록소 측정치는 토양의 질산태 질소 함량및 무비구 토마토의 건물중 그리고 무비구 토마토에 의한 질소흡수량과 유의성 있는 정의 상관을 보이며 2차함수의 곡선적 관계를 나타냈다. 무비구 토마토의 최대 건물중과 최대 질소 흡수량으로 추정한 엽록소 측정치는 57.1로 동일하게 평가되었다. 따라서 토마토 정식후 40일째 엽록소 측정치는 질소 웃거름 시비량을 결정하기 위한 식물체 검정법으로 활용 가능한 것으로 생각되었다.

  • 현행 초등학교 독서교육은, 학생들의 독서능력이나 수준과 관계없이 실시되고 있으며, 독서능력 측정을 위한 진단지의 부재, 텍스트 위주의 감상표현활동, 가정과 학교의 단절로 인한 독서교육 실시의 어려움이 문제점으로 제기되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 기술을 활용한 수준별 독서지원 시스템을 구안하였다. 시스템을 통하여 학생들의 독서능력을 정확하고 신속하게 진단하여 수준에 맞는 도서를 안내하고, 멀티미어 기술을 활용한 감상표현을 함으로써 독서에 흥미를 가질 수 있게 하였다.

Preservice Teachers' Responses to Postmodern Picture Books and Deconstructive Reading

  • Reading postmodern texts certainly situates readers in roles different from the ones we have been used to. Recently, postmodern metafiction forms a significant body of children's literature that is intended to challenge and transform the conventions of books in the digital age. While many studies have been done as to how child readers have capabilities to appreciate and interpret postmodern metafiction picture books, few studies on teachers and preservice teachers' reactions are not readily available. The role of teachers and preservice teachers are crucial for child readers to have access to affluent reading resources. This study discusses how preservice teachers read and respond to postmodern metafiction picture books using a deconstructive approach by means of binary opposites. Data was collected with 14 preservice teachers as to their likes/dislikes, reading levels, and reading paths about postmodern metafiction picture books. Expected pedagogical implications for literacy and language education were requested to address in their reading diaries and response papers. With their likes/ dislikes, since binary opposites always imply the hierarchy of power and value, the likes is apparently more valued and appreciated over their dislikes. This differentiated values are discussed in more detail with three recurring themes-Education, Morals and Behavior, and Tradition. With reading levels, there seems to be a gap existing between the authors' implied reader and literary critics' and the preservice teachers' ideal readers for the postmodern metafiction picture books. Although many studies have already revealed young readers' capability of appreciating postmodern metafiction, it depends a lot more on the teachers and preservice teachers whether children's right to have access to affluent literacy resources is respected or not. Preservice teachers' awareness of the potential of postmodern metafiction will work as an initial step to bring and realize the new reading path and new literacies in classrooms. By challenging metanarratives of children's literature, preservice teachers' readings of postmodern picture books reveals potentials to raise different reading paths and develop new literacies and other educational implications.

웹 기반의 시각적 스트레스 증후군 선별에 관한 연구 (A Study of Web based Screening for Visual Stress Syndrome)

  • A visual stress may provoke migraine, cephalalgia, intervene a long term reading and learning capability and reduce the productivity of a laborer who uses computer for a good while. In this study, a web based screening tool for visual stress was developed, it applied to 72 visually normal young persons in parallel with traditional questionnaire about symptoms of visual stress. To estimate visual stress, It is proposed to measure difference of visual search time of Han Gul characters as targets between visual stressful pattern and non-visual stressful pattern as global background of characters. As a result of test, 5 subjects were screened whose mean visual search time in the stressful pattern with 6 CPD spatial frequency increase significantly more than in none stressful pattern(t-test, one-tailed, p=$1.0407\times10^{-11}$). 2 of them were diagnosed as mild visual stress syndrome in the clinic. None had visual distortion and 50% of subjects had visual discomfort in results of the questionnaire. Correlation between visual search time increase rate and normalized number of visual discomfort may be slight(C. coefficient=0.1355). This study may contribute as a basic research for screening person with migraine, visual reading disabilities and VDT syndrome. It is required to apply the test to visual reading disabilities, migraine with visual distortion and/or visual discomfort as well as normal person for higher reliability of the screening tool.

Simple Near-Field Optical Recording Using Bent Cantilever Probes

  • This paper describes our high-density near-field optical recording using bent cantilever fiber probes installed in an atomic force microscope. We conducted a near-field reading of nano-scale hole patterns with a 100 nm spatial resolution and a 25 ${\mu}m$/s scan speed; this implies a capability of a data reading density of 60 Gb/$in^2$ with a 0.25 kbps data transfer rate. In addition, we investigated re-writable near-field recording on photochromic diarylethene films. We successfully recorded erasable memory bits having a minimum width of 600 nm in a writing time as short as 30ms. We found that using a cantilever probe simplifies the setup and operation of the near-field optical recording system and may offer multifunctional recording capabilities.

Evaluation of the parameters affecting the Schmidt rebound hammer reading using ANFIS method

  • As a nondestructive testing method, the Schmidt rebound hammer is widely used for structural health monitoring. During application, a Schmidt hammer hits the surface of a concrete mass. According to the principle of rebound, concrete strength depends on the hardness of the concrete energy surface. Study aims to identify the main variables affecting the results of Schmidt rebound hammer reading and consequently the results of structural health monitoring of concrete structures using adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The ANFIS process for variable selection was applied for this purpose. This procedure comprises some methods that determine a subsection of the entire set of detailed factors, which present analytical capability. ANFIS was applied to complete a flexible search. Afterward, this method was applied to conclude how the five main factors (namely, age, silica fume, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, and water) used in designing concrete mixture influence the Schmidt rebound hammer reading and consequently the structural health monitoring accuracy. Results show that water is considered the most significant parameter of the Schmidt rebound hammer reading. The details of this study are discussed thoroughly.

하드 디스크 드라이브 시스템의 747 곡선 시뮬레이션 (The Simulation of 747 Curve for Hard Disk Drive System)

  • 자기헤드의 오프트랙 성능은 하드디스크 드라이브에서 트랙 피치를 결정하는데 사용되고 오프트랙 성능이 트랙 피치에 관한 함수가 747 곡선이다. 본 논문에서는 747 곡선을 컴퓨터를 이용하여 시뮬레이션 하였다. 헤드의 측면재생과 기록변수는 3차원 유한요소법을 이용한 자장해석을 이용하여 구하였고, 신호대 잡음비 (signal to noise ratio : SNR) 계산을 위한 헤드의 재생 신호와 잡음은 가역정리를 이용하여 구하였다. 생성된 747 곡선에 의하면, 소거밴드의 폭이 클수록 또한 유효 신호대 잡음비 SNR$_{eff}$이 작을 수록 오프트랙의 성능이 향상되었다. 기록된 트랙폭이 4.1 .mu. m 인 평면 실리콘 헤드를 사용하여 시뮬레이션으로 생성된 747 곡선과 스핀 스탠드 (spin stand)로 측정된 747 곡선을 비교했을 때, 두 곡선이 비슷하였으며 이로부터 본 시뮬레이션의 타당성을 입증할 수 있었다.다.

확률적 퍼지 룰 기반 학습에 의한 개인화된 미디어 제어 방법 (Personalized Media Control Method using Probabilistic Fuzzy Rule-based Learning)

  • 사용자 의도 파악 (intention reading) 기술은 스마트 홈과 같은 복잡한 유비쿼터스(ubiquitous) 환경에서 사용자에게 보다 편리하고 개인화된(personalized) 서비스 제공이 가능하도록 해준다. 또한 학습 기능(learning capability)은 지식 발견(knowledge discovery)의 관점에서 의도 파악 기술의 핵심 요소 기술의 하나로 자리 매김 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 스마트 홈 환경에서 제공 가능한 개인화된 서버스(personalized service) 중의 하나로, 개인화된 미디어 제어 방법에 대한 내용을 다룬다. 특히, 이러한 사람의 행동 패턴과 같은 데이터는 패턴 분류의 관점에서 구분해야 할 클래스(class)에 비해 입력 정보가 불충분할 경우가 많으므로 비일관적인(inconsistent) 데이터가 많으므로, 퍼지 논리(fuzzy logic)와 확률(probability)의 개념을 효과적으로 병행해야 의미 있는 지식을 추출해 낼 수 있다. 이를 위하여 반복 퍼지 지도 클러스터링 (IFCS; Iterative Fuzzy Clustering with Supervision) 알고리즘에 기반하여 주어진 데이터 패턴으로부터 확률적 퍼지 룰(probabilistic fuzzy rule)을 얻어 내는 방법에 대해 설명한다. 또한 이를 포함하는 학습 제어 시스템을 통해 개인화된 미디어 서비스를 추천해 줄 수 있는 방법에 대해서 설명하도록 한다.
