  • Effect of reaction time and sludge formation on the thickness of die soldering reaction layer has been studied in Al-9Si-0.3Mg casting alloy. Ternary ${\alpha}_{bcc}-Al_8Fe_2Si$ and ${\alpha}_{hcp}-Al_8Fe_2Si$ intermetallic compounds formed at the interface of SKD61 tool steel by interaction diffusion of Al, Fe and Si atoms after 0.5hr and 6hr immersion time, respectively. Binary ${\eta}-Fe_2Al_5$ additionally formed at the interface of SKD61 tool steel after 10hr immersion time. Thickness of soldering reaction layer in die surface increased as immersion time increased from 0.5hr to 24hr. Sludge formation was ascertained in the samples which were immersed in the melts more than 10hr. Reaction of die soldering after sludge formation was more accelerated than that of before sludge formation due to a decrease in Fe content, followed by higher diffusion rate of Al in the melt by sludge formation.

  • In this paper it is investigated the roles of key elementary reactions for NO formation in methane-air one-dimensional premixed flame and counterflow diffusion flame, which were studied numerically by using NO kinetics and $C_{2}$ -chemistry complied by Miller and Bowman. The spatial distributions of the reaction rates of 9 main elementary reactions directly related to NO formation and destruction were calculated. Integration of the rates of all reactions in the NO formation across the flame yields the quantitative reaction path diagram, which shows clearly relative importance of each reaction path in NO formation and how it changes with the type and parameters of the flame. The results show that the thermal and Fenimore mechanisms are dominant respectively for learn and rich premixed flames, and the latter is dominant for diffusion flames. In addition, it was found that the HCN recycle route is important for diffusion flame, and that the routes of mutual transformation between NO and NO$^{2}$, and between NO and HNO do not contribute to the net NO formation.

  • ${\beta}$-SiC formation mechanism in Si melt-C-SiC system with varying in size of carbon source was investigated. A continuous reaction sintering process using Si melt infiltration method was adopted to control the reaction sintering time effectively. It was found that ${\beta}$-SiC formation mechanism in Si melt-C-SiC system was directly affected by the size of carbon source. In the Si melt-C-SiC system with large carbon source ${\beta}$-SiC formation mechanism could be divided into two stages depending on the reaction sintering time: in early stage of reaction sintering carbon dissolution in Si melt and precipitation of ${\beta}$-SiC was occurred preferentially and then SIC nucleation and growth was controlled by diffusion of carbon throughy the ${\beta}$-SiC layer formed on graphite particle. Furthmore a dissolution rate of graphite particles in Si melt could be accelerated by the infiltration of Si melt through basal plane of graphite crystalline.

  • In this study, the formation of magnetite using Fe(II) and Fe(III) hydroxides was investigated; The effects of hydroxide synthesizing pH and temperature, reaction temperature, and total water volume of hydroxide suspensions on the magnetite formation were studied. And the basic reaction behaviors of magnetite formation was discussed in the view of hydroxide formation reaction of Fe(II) and Fe(III) by titration. The characteristics of products were examined by TEM, VSM, XRD. From these experimental data, solid-solid reaction between Fe(II) and Fe(III) hydroxides is proposed as a new ferrite formation mechanism.

  • A hydrophobic substrate triolein was hydrolyzed by lipase in a mono-phase reaction system containing cyclodextrin(CD) as emulsifier. The triolein was transformation to an emulsion-like state in the CD containing reaction system in contrast to the oil-droplet like state without CD due to the formation of an inclusion complex between the lipids and CDs. The hydyrolysis reaction increased substantially in the CD containing reaction system, and the optimum reaction conditions including the amount of lipase, ${\beta}$-CD concentration, and mixing ratio of triolein and ${\beta}$-CD, were determined. The performance of the enzyme reaction in a mono-phase reaction system was compared with that of a two-phase reaction system which used water immiscible hexane as the organic solvent. The role of a CD in the mono-phase reaction system was elucidated by comparing the degree of the inclusion complex formation with triolein and oleic acid, Km and Vmax values, and product inhibition by oleic aicd in aqueous and CD containing reaction systems. The resulting enhanced reaction seems to be caused by two phenomena; the increased accessibility of lipase to triolein and reduced product inhibition by oleic acid through the formation of an inclusion complex.

  • The reaction of gas-phase atomic bromine with highly covered chemisorbed hydrogen atoms on a silicon surface is studied by use of the classical trajectory approach. It is found that the major reaction is the formation of HBr(g), and it proceeds th rough two modes, that is, direct Eley-Rideal and hot-atom mechanism. The HBr formation reaction takes place on a picosecond time scale with most of the reaction exothermicity depositing in the product vibration and translation. The adsorption of Br(g) on the surface is the second most efficient reaction pathway. The total reaction cross sections are $2.53{\AA}2$ for the HBr formation and $2.32{\AA}2$ for the adsorption of Br(g) at gas temperature 1500 K and surface temperature 300 K.

  • A batch reaction calorimeter is the device for estimating reaction heat along time. Reaction heat formation data are very imoprtant for batch reactor behavior analysis and operatoin. So, many types of reaction calorimeter have been introduced and used. In this study, we analyze the dynamic charateristics of the batch reaction calorimeter that is designed in our laboratory. And we introducde suitable temperature control system. As a result, we analyze reatin heat formation data obtained by simulation and introduce its application examples.

  • The experiment of hot dip interaction tests was carried out in order to study the formation behavior of interfacial reaction layer between as-received STD61 hot work tool steel and a commercial pure aluminum melt, Al-xwt.%Fe(x=0.2, 0.5, 0.8 and 1.1) alloys melt and Al-xwt.%Si(x=1.0, 4.0, 7.0 and 10.0) alloys melt, respectively. The results show that the reaction layer, over 300 ${\mu}m$ in thickness, is easily formed by the dissolution of silicon from as-received tool steel. When the iron content in the aluminum alloy is higher than 1.1 wt.%, the thickness of reaction layer decreases below 180 ${\mu}m$ by preventing iron dissolution from the tool steel. The silicon dissolved from tool steel acts as a strong promoter on the formation of reaction layer, but the alloyed silicon in molten aluminum alloys acts as an inhibitor on the formation of reaction layer.

  • In order to investigate the reaction in the system of fly ash-sulfuric acid-calcium hydroxide the hydrates were produced by the addition of Ca(OH)2 to fly ash activated with sulfuric acid at various temperatures. And then they were characterized by XRD. SEM and TG-DTA. It was found that in the reaction of fly ash with sulfuric acid fly ash was not decomposed but Al2O3 and SiO2 component in it were activated. The addition of calcium hydroxide into this system resulted in the formation of ettringite and calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) As the concentration of sulfuric acid and reaction temperature increased the amount of calcium hydroxide decreased fast. At this time gypsum produced by the reaction calcium hydroxide with sulfuric acid was consumed to form ettringite. Accordingly the formation of ettringite increased with calcium hydroxide and reaction time. And it showed faster than the formation of C-S-H.

  • In this paper, we study the pattern formation to a general Degn-Harrison reaction model. We show Turing instability happens by analyzing the stability of the unique positive equilibrium with respect to the PDE model and the corresponding ODE model, which indicate the existence of the non-constant steady state solutions. We also show the existence periodic solutions of the PDE model and the ODE model by using Hopf bifurcation theory. Numerical simulations are presented to verify and illustrate the theoretical results.
