  • In the case of a belt-pulley type CVT that transmits a driving force by using a variable pulley and a metal belt, slippage occurs due to transmission of power by using a belt, which results in a decrease in efficiency. Therefore, in this study, the rails were machined on the plate surface of the pulley to reduce the friction and slip between the belt and the pulley while applying the characteristics of the CVT. As the plate is rotated by the shape of the rail, a centrifugal belt pulley type continuously variable transmission system which shifts while varying the radius of rotation of the belt that transmits power is studied. Accordingly, the structure of the pulley was designed and the centrifugal belt pulley type continuously variable transmission was Manufactured. In addition, to verify the suitability of the manufactured transmission, the power transmission efficiency was monitored by establishing an interface with the controller. The structural analysis of the plate proved the suitability of the centrifugal belt pulley type continuously variable transmission.

  • Generally, PID controller is not suitable to control multi variable system because it is very difficult to tune the PID gains. However, this paper shows that it is not hard to tune the PID gains if we can find a Jacobian matrix of the system. The Jacobian matrix expresses the ratio of output variations according to input variations. It is possible to adjust the input values in order to reduce the output error using the Jacobian. When the colt function is composed of error related terms, the gradient approach can tune the PID gains to minimize the function. In simulation, a hydrofoil catamaran with two inputs and two outputs is applied as a multi variable system. We can easily get the multi variable PID controller by the proposed teaming method. When the controller is compared with LQR controller, the performance is as good as that of LQR controller with a modeling equation.

  • In this study, vertical motion of a Tuned Liquid Column Damper(TLCD) is measured by a variable voltage measurement system in the electric field and design parameters of the TLCD are determined. First, nonlinear damping term of the TLCD is replaced as the equivalent viscous damping term. The natural frequency and damping ratio of dynamic characteristics of the TLCD are verified. In addition, a novel liquid level measurement system is developed for measuring vertical motion of the TLCD. For the experimental achievement, experimental characterizations of natural frequency and damping ratio of the TLCD are undertaken utilizing the developed variable voltage sensing. Also, shake table testing is performed to determine the dynamic characteristics of the TLCD. As a result, the feasibility of the proposed liquid level measurement system is verified by comparison with the capacitive type wavemeter.

  • In this paper we present a random number generation method which is one of the rejection methods, To accelerate ratio-of-uniform method we use an efficiency variable γ. After finding the optimal value of γwith respect to interesting distribution with pro-portional density random numbers can be generated in acceleration.

  • In an effort to make a right choice among ratio estimation strategies and PPS sampling strategies, we conduct an empirical investigation of the relative performances of three ratio estimation strategies and four PPS estimation strategies using a set of 12 natural populations. The quality of a strategy is measured in the traditional way, namely with the consideration of efficiency, achieved coverage rate of the nominal 99% confidence interval and approach to normality (asymmetry).

  • Variable air intake and variable exhaust nozzle of hypersonic engines are designed and tested in this study. Dimensions for variable geometry air intake, ram combustor and variable geometry exhaust nozzle are defined based on the requirements of a pre-cooled turbojet engine. Hypersonic Ramjet Engine is designed as a scaled test bed for each component. Actuation forces of moving parts for variable intake and variable nozzle are reduced by balancing the other force in the opposite direction. A demonstrator engine which includes variable intake and variable nozzle is designed and the components are fabricated. Composite material with silicone carbide is applied for high temperature parts under oxidation environment such as leading edge of the variable intake and combustor liner. Internal cooling structure is adopted for both moving and static parts of the variable nozzle. Pressure recovery and mass capture ratio of the variable intake at Mach 5 is obtained by a hypersonic wind tunnel test. Flow characteristics of the variable nozzle are obtained by a low temperature flow test. Wall temperature and heat flux of the nozzle at Mach 3 is obtained by a firing test. As results, the intake and the nozzle are proved to be used at designed pressure and temperature environment.

  • This paper studies the relationship between general investors' allotment ratio and underpricing for the companies that were newly listed in KOSDAQ market after the 20% rule, from March 2004 to December 2013, by empirical analysis. It is shown that the excess allotment ratio over 20% has a strong explanatory power for underpricing ratio under the 1% significance level. Furthermore, the general investors' allotment ratio is a significant explanatory variable of underpricing ratio under the 5% significance level. There are many hypotheses about underpricing, however, if underpricing is evident with high allocation ratio for general investors, it can be regarded as a signal of company's confidence in earnings after listing. In conclusion, this study reveals that general investors' allotment ratio can be used as a major explanatory variable that has a significant effect on the degree of undervaluation in the IPO market.

  • The present study composed a diesel-atkinson cycle of high expansion as a method of achieving high efficiency in diesel cycle engines. It also interpreted the cycle engine thermodynamically analysis to determine the possibility of the improvement of thermal efficiency and clarified the characteristics of several factors . According to the result of theoretical analysis, heat efficiency was highest when expansion-compression ratio Reど:1. In addition. diesel engines with high apparent compression ratio had higher expansion-compression ratio than otto engines and consequently their effect of high expansion was high. which in turn enhanced thermal efficiency. When the atkinson cycle was implemented in a real diesel engine by applying the miller cycle through the variation of the closing time of the intake valve, the effective compression ratio and the quantify of intake air decreased and as a result, the effect of high expansion was not observed. Accordingly. the atkinson cycle can be implemented when the quantity of intake air is compensated by supercharge and the effective compression ratio is maintained at its initial level through the reduction of the clearance volume. In this case. heat efficiency increased by $4.1\%$ at the same expansion-compression ratio when the apparent compression ratio was 20 and the fuel cut off ratio was 2. As explained above, when the atkinson cycle was used for diesel cycle. heat efficiency was improved. In order to realize high expansion through retarding the intake value closing time, the engine needs to be equipped with variable valve timing equipment, variable compression ratio equipment and supercharged Pressure equipment. Then a diesel-atkinson cycle engine is realized.

  • This study performed Panel Regression Analysis (PRA) with the debt ratio as a dependent variable and the ROE (return on equity), sales volume, current ratio, total capital, and Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) as an independent variable. According to the GLS analysis, the current ratio to liabilities ratio was negative, and for sales, the ratio of liabilities was positive. Capital totals also had a negative impact on the debt ratio. However, ROE, unlike the hypothesis, had negative effects on the liability ratio, and the SCFI index was not significant. As implications of this research, the company confirmed that its sales increased as the debt ratio of global shipping companies rose, achieving economies of scale. However, it was confirmed that the actual size of the economy through the injection of other capital would help increase sales but not affect net profit. Shipping companies should expand their business power and secure large container vessels to secure credibility of shippers. In the future research, an analysis considering exchange rate, global economic growth rate, and manufacturing production index is needed.
