Opuntia Ficus has been an epiphyte plant since it was introduced in Cheju island as an ornamental plant two hundred years ago. And now it is grown as many as it is designated to local souvenir No.35. The fruit of this plant contains red-purple sap, which is due to be used in coloring clothes. This study aims at confirmation of use possibility as eco-friendly dyeing stuffs on extract from opuntia ficus fruits and contributing to the practical use of natural dyeing. Thus this study was investigated the dyeability of extract from opuntia ficus fruits on the silk fabric. Antioxidants were used ascorbic acid, L-cysteine, prophyl gallete. After dyeing, K/S and dye fastness were measured. The results were as follows; Maximum absorption band of extract from opuntia ficus fruits was 534.5nm. The appropriate dyeing condition was bath ratio 50:1, dyeing temperature $30^{\circ}C$, dyeing concentration 50%, dyeing time 50min, pH 3,concentration of all antioxidants 3%. Addition of antioxidants brought increase of K/S value. And K/S value and dye fastness had the greatest value when ascorbic acid was added
Using the new type auxiliary(K-1), dyeing experiment was done at the various dyeing conditions and the effects of auxiliary on the dyeing properties of metal complex dye for the silk fiber were dicussed. The exhaust rate was higher in the auxiliary 3% o.w.f. addition than sodium sulfate 50% o.w.f. The decreasing ratio of exhaust rate according to dye concentration increasing was lower at auxiliary addition than auxiliary non-addition. The exhaust rate according to increasing dyeing temperature was higher in the auxiliary addition than non-addition.

A new dyeing M/C, called Green-flow was developed in this study. A new M/C was applied to mixed air flow method combined aerodynamic technology to fabric speed power. The polyester fabric was dyed of beige color with a new M/C and Luft-roto dyeing M/C made by Thies Company(German) with the same dyeing condition (liquor ratio=1 : 3.5, Fabric speed = 450yds/min.) for comparision. The results showed that the color fastness to dye and drapability of the fabrics dyed with both M/C were almost the same and the levelness and T.H.V of the fabrics dyed with Greenflow were better than those dyed with Luft-roto M/C. In addition, it is found that the fabric speed of 502yds/min was a suitable for both M/C.
This study was carried out to investigate dyeing characteristics of CDP(cation dyeable polyester)/silk knitted fabrics with disperse type cation dyes/acid dyes by one bath dyeing method in comparison with two bath dyeing method in the interests for rationalization of the dyeing process. The apparent color depth(K/S) of the disperse type cation dyes with CDP and that of acid dyes with silk decreased slowly with increasing pH values of dyebath with the exception of sharp decrease at alkali region for CDP. The contamination behavior of CDP by the acid dyes and that of silk by the disperse type cation dyes decreased with progressing of dyeing. The migration ratio(%) of the disperse type cation dyes with CDP is low compared with that of acid dyes with silk. The sediment in mixed dying solution of disperse type cation dyes and acid dyes remarkably less compared with that of regular type cation dyes and acid dyes at $100^{\circ}C$ regardless applying of preventer agent of precipitation. When CDP/silk knitted fabrics was dyed with by with mixtures of disperse type cation dyes/acid dyes one bath or two bath dyeing method, the characteristic of reflectance spectra of CDP components were greatly influenced by disperse type cation dyes and that of silk components by acid dyes. It was confirmed that K/S values of each components of CDP/silk knitted fabrics dyed by one bath dyeing method decreased slightly compared with two bath dyeing method.

This study is as a part of the new disposal and recycling plans of heat-resource waste of Daegu dyeing industrial center we tried to examine applicable possibility of crushed thing(waste aggregate) as aggregates for mortar and concrete. To examine applicable possibility of waste aggregate as a lightweight-aggregate for concrete and mortar, we carried this study by mainly property examination of concrete according to replacement ratio of waste aggregate. We carried slump, unit weight, compressive strength and bending strength test according to replacement ratio of waste aggregate. As the result of that, if we use waste aggregate, lightweight of concrete and mortar will be possible. Specially it shows a strength improvement effect of cement hardening according to using this so it is judged that applicable possibility as aggregate for concrete and mortar is very excellent.

The present study aims to the use of carboxymenthyl cellulose (CMC) improving the ability of fiber in the dyeing process. Cellulose was extracted from banana leaves by NaOH and then modified by reacting with chloroacetic acid to obtain the carboxymenthyl cellulose. The effect of carboxymenthyl cellulose contents on the mechanical properties and dye absorption were also investigated. Then, CMC were blend with polypropylene (grade 561R) at 1%, 3% and 5% by weight ratio. The fibers were obtained from single screw extruder. The results show that the mechanical properties of the product decreased when increased the amount of CMC in the fiber product. After dyeing, the dye however were absorbed by the CMC-PP fibers more than the original PP fibers. The absorption of dye on the CMC-PP fibers increased significantly with the CMC ratio.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the degradation of PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) contained in dyeing wastewater by a mixed culture of Microbacterium barkeri KCCM 10507 and Paenibacillus amylolyticus KCCM 10508. Firstly, synthetic wastewater which contained different initial concentrations of PVA varying from 50 to 3,500 mg/l were tested to obtain optimal PVA biodegradation activity of isolated strains, and the above two strains were found to degrade PVA up to 90%, when the initial concentration of PVA was 750 mg/l and below. Next, dyeing wastewater was tested by a nixed culture of the two isolated strains, and 42% and 55% of the initial concentrations of PVA and COD, respectively, was removed after five days. MLSS was gradually increased from an initial 1,400 to 2,500 mg/l, and the pH was also increased from 5.1 to 7.8. Sterilized dyeing wastewater was tested to find the effect of strains only on the biodegradation of PVA, and PVA degradation ratio and COD removal ratio were 50% and 72.8%, respectively. Thus, the results indicated that these two strains have good ability to degrade PVA and remove COD in dyeing wastewater, Finally, it is expected that if these two strains were used in the dyeing wastewater treatment, good efficiency for PVA degradation and COD removal could be achieved.
In this study, eco-friendly functional leather was developed by recycling wastes such as eel skin, marigold(Tagetas erecta l.), hinoki cypress(Chamaecyparis obtusa). The hot water extracts of marigold and hinoki cypress leaves were freeze-dried at $-80^{\circ}C$ to prepare colorant powder. The dyeing of eel leather with marigold was carried out to investigate the effects of dyeing conditions, mordanting on dye uptake, color, morphological change, and color fastness. Considering shrinkage of eel leather caused by dyeing, the optimum dyeing conditions were $60^{\circ}C$ of dyeing temperature and 60 min of dyeing time at 1:100 of bath ratio, and color of the dyed eel leather was Y to YR Munsell series. In order to prevent the degradation of leather from microbe, we conducted combination dyeing with marigold and hinoki cypress leave colorants. In this case, the combination dyed eel leathers showed excellent antimicrobial activity with above 99% bacterial reduction rate against S. aurieus and K. pneumoniae. It was confirmed that all of the dyed eel leathers were sufficient to meet the Korean Standard for color fastness of leather products. It can be applied practically for the development of eco-friendly functional leather by utilizing some useful active components extracted from plant resources and by recycling food wastes.
In this study, Water Repellent Finish was carried out before dyeing on cotton fabrics. It was aimed to improve on dyeing properties of cotton fabrics with direct dye. The results obtained were summerized as follows: 1. The K/S value of water repellent finished cotton fabrics increased. This phenomena in water repellent finished cotton fabrics were much more noticiable than unfinished cotton fabrics. 2. The color fastness(light, washing, and rubbing) of water repellent finished cotton-dyed were worse than those of unfinished cotton-dyed with direct dye. △E of water repellent finished cotton fabrics wasn't showed significant difference as compared with that of unfinished cotton fabrics. 3. The water repellency of finished cotton after dyeing got down from 100 to 70. That of finished-cotton before dyeing was 100. 4. Moisture regain, stiffness and weight of finished cotton fabrics were not almost differenciated with unfinished cotton fabrics. Moreover, the tensile strength of finished cotton fabrics was increased compared to that of unfinished cotton fabrics. As conclusion, according to the above results when the cotton fabrics were dyed with direct dye, it was much more effective that water repellent finished cotton fabrics were dyed rather than trational process, that is pre-dyeing after-finishing even if, by low liquor ratio. The physical properties of fabrics were maintained or increased.
