  • Researches about scheduling distributed real-time systems have some weak points, not scheduling both sporadic and periodic tasks and messages or being unable to guaranteeing the end-to-end constraints due to omitting precedence relations between sporadic tasks. This paper describes the application model of sporadic tasks with precedence constraints in a distributed real-time system. It is shown that existing scheduling methods such as Rate Monotonic scheduling are not proper to be applied to the system having sporadic tasks with precedence constraints. So this paper proposes an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm which considers the practical laxity of a task and allocates a proper priority to a task.

  • In e-Trade, Real-Time System(RTS) plays a very important role. Each task is set with limited time, and appointed regulations must be followed because it can be greatly damaged if it cannot be executed in limited time. In e-Trade, the scheduling possibility techniques generally use periodical tasks; however, it is necessary to study more stable prediction scheduling possibility algorithm by using other task timing conditions and non-periodical task scheduling tasks. This study proposed an algorithm to increase the prediction possibility using individual task utilization rate, and presented scheduling possibility conditions using existing whole task utilization rate and the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, an effective task scheduling scheme was proposed for the flexible real time LINUX systems with the selection between EDF(earliest deadline first) and RMS(rate monotonic scheduling). It was known that many task scheduling schemes were analyzed according to the characteristics of scheduling schemes and the guarantee of an earliest deadline scheduler for process utilities.

  • This paper presents an optimal checkpoint strategy for fault-tolerance in real-time systems. In our environment, multiple real-time tasks with arbitrary periods are scheduled in the system by Rate Monotonic (RM) algorithm, and checkpoints are inserted at a constant interval in each task while the width of interval is different with respect to the task. We propose a method to determine the optimal checkpoint interval for each task so that the probability of completing all the tasks is maximized. Whenever a fault occurs to a checkpoint interval of a task, the execution time of the task would be prolonged by rollback and re-execution of checkpoints. Our scheme includes the schedulability test to examine whether a task can be completed with an extended execution time. A numerical experiment is conducted to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed scheme.

  • Researches about scheduling of the distributed real-time systems have been proposed. However, they have some weak points, not scheduling both sporadic and periodic tasks and messages or being unable to guaranteeing the end-to-end constraints due to omitting precedence relations between sporadic tasks. So this paper proposes a new scheduling method for distributed real-time systems consisting of sporadic and periodic tasks with precedence relations and sporadic and periodic messages, guaranteeing end-to-end constraints. The proposed method is based on a binary search-based period assignment algorithm, an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm, and three kinds of schedulability analysis, node, network, and end-to-end schedulability analysis. In addition, this paper describes the application model of sporadic tasks with precedence constraints in a distributed real-time system, shows that existing scheduling methods such as Rate Monotonic (RM) scheduling are not proper to be applied to the system having sporadic tasks with precedence constraints, and proposes an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm.

  • n this paper, we implement the real-time scheduler which performs extended schedulability testing, to reconfigure Mach kernel in which Real-Time scheduling is possible. for this purpose, first, we propose the configuration factors according to requirements of Real-Time operation systems and we analyze a Real-time scheduling algorithm. Second, for the reconfiguration of Mach kernel, we propose the modified data structure through the analysis of Mach kernel environments and scheduling. Third, we suggest the extended scheduling method by analyzing conventional Real-Time scheduling policies. Fourth, we implement the scheduler which executes tasks according to the Earliest-Deadline-First scheduling and the Rate Monotonic scheduling.

  • The scheduling methods of the distributed real-time systems have been proposed. However, they have some weak points. They did not schedule both sporadic and periodic tasks and messages at the same time or did not consider the end-to-end constraints such as precedence relations between sporadic tasks. This means that system scheduling must guarantee the constraints of practical systems and be applicable to them. This paper proposes a new scheduling method that can be applied to more practical model of distributed real-time systems. System model consists of sporadic and periodic tasks with precedence relations and sporadic and periodic messages and has end-to-end constraints. The proposed method is based on a binary search-based period assignment algorithm, an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm, and three kinds of schedulability analysis, node, network, and end-to-end schedulability analysis. In addition, this paper describes the application model of sporadic tasks with precedence constraints in a distributed real-time system, shows that existing scheduling methods such as Rate Monotonic scheduling are not proper to be applied to the system having sporadic tasks with precedence constraints, and proposes an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm.

  • Embedded Systems need to ensure real-time of the task response time depending on the applied fields of it. And task could be faulty due to various reasons in real time systems. Therefore in this paper, we design a task scheduler that guarantees deadlines of periodic tasks and considers a fault tolerance of defective task in embedded system with a single processor. In order to provide real-time, we classify tasks with periodic/aperiodic tasks and applies RMS(Rate Monotonic Scheduling) method to schedule periodic tasks and can guarantees execution of aperiodic tasks by managing surplus times obtained after analyzing the execution time of periodic tasks. In order to provide fault tolerance, we manage backup times and reexecute a fault task to restore it's conditions.

  • The problem of scheduling simply periodic task systems upon a uniform multiprocessor is considered. Partitioning of periodic task systems requires solving the bin-packing problem, which is known to be intractable (NP-hard in the strong sense). This paper presents a global scheduling algorithm which transforms a given simply periodic task system into another using a "task-splitting" technique. Each transformed simply periodic task system is guaranteed to be successfully scheduled upon any uniform multiprocessor using a partitioned scheduling algorithm. It is proven that the proposed algorithm achieves the theoretical maximum utilization bound upon any uniform multiprocessor platform.

  • Recently, most of the embedded system is required not only many functions but also real-time characteristics in purpose. In the hard real-time system, especially, strict deadline of periodic task can affect the performance of the system. In this paper, we design and implement the scheduler based on RM(Rate-Monotonic) rule. This scheduler makes feasible patterns based on EDF(Earliest deadline first) rule with extended schedulability inspection before execution, for periodic task-set that has high CPU utilization and then, execute periodic task-set depended on feasible patterns. The feasible pattern formed into EDF rule is capable of the efficiency of CPU up to 100 percentage and by the referenced execution of the feasible pattern is possible of removing the red-time scheduling overhead that is the defect of the order of dynamic assignment rule.
