Rate Enhancement by Micelle Encapsulation for Oxidation of L-Glutamic Acid in Aqueous Media at Room Temperature

  • Oxidation of glutamic acid is performed in aqueous acid media at $30^{\circ}C$ under the kinetic condition [glutamic acid]$_T{\gg}[Cr(VI)]_T$. Effect of combination of micellar catalyst (SDS, TX-100) and promoter (PA, bpy, phen) has been studied. Among the promoters phen accelerates the reaction most in aqueous media. But the rate acceleration is small in the case. Combination of promoter and catalyst produces much better result. Maximum rate enhancement occurs in presence of the combination of bpy and SDS.

  • Two yaw motion control systems that improve a vehicle lateral stability are proposed in this study: a rear wheel steering yaw motion controller (SESP) and an enhanced rear wheel steering yaw motion controller (ESESP). A SESP controls the rear wheels, while an ESESP steers the rear wheels and front outer wheel to allow the yaw rate to track the reference yaw rate. A 15 degree-of-freedom vehicle model, simplified steering system model, and driver model are used to evaluate the proposed SESP and ESESP. A robust anti-lock braking system (ABS) controller is also designed and developed. The performance of the SESP and ESESP are evaluated under various road conditions and driving inputs. They reduce the slip angle when braking and steering inputs are applied simultaneously, thereby increasing the controllability and stability of the vehicle on slippery roads.

  • Modern vehicles require a high degree of refinement, including good driveability to meet customer demands. Vehicle driveability, which becomes a key decisive factor for marketability, is affected by many parameters such as engine control and the dynamic characteristics in drive lines. Therefore, Engine and drive train characteristics should be considered to achieve a well balanced vehicle response simultaneously. This paper describes analysis procedures using a mathematical model which has been developed to simulate spark timing control logic. Inertia mass moment, stiffness and damping coefficient of engine and drive train were simulated to analyze the effect of parameters which were related vehicle dynamic behavior. Inertia mass moment of engine and stiffness of drive line were shown key factors for the shuffle characteristics. It was found that torque increase rate, torque reduction rate and torque recovery timing and rate influenced the shuffle characteristics at the tip-in condition for the given system in this study.

연료분사정보 표시장치를 통한 자동차 연비향상 효과에 대한 실험적 연구 (A Study on Reduction of Fuel Consumption by Displaying Fuel Injection Data for Drivers)

  • The reduction rate of fuel consumption by showing the fuel injection data for driver was measured in this study. The fuel injection data are composed of injection period, real time fuel economy and average fuel economy. The fuel consumption was measured by processing the voltage signal of injector and driven distance by GPS sensor. The fuel consumption was reduced by driving more carefully, i.e driving more steady without sudden acceleration and deceleration watching these fuel injection data. The reduction rate was up to 37% and the rate increased as the driver is customed to this driving pattern.

  • Digital fetal monitoring system based on the personal computer combined with the digital signal processing (DSP) board was implemented. The DSP board acquires and digitally processes ultra- sound fetal Doppler signal for digital signal conditioning, rectification, low -pass filtering, autocorrealtion function calculation and its peak detection. The personal computer interfaced with the DSP board is in charge of graphic display, hardcopy, data transmission and on -line analysis of fetal heart rate change including on - line warning system, base -line estmation, acceleration, deceleration and variability. It is one of the most suitable situation to apply the DSP chip for siganl conditioning, digital filtering of ultrasound fetal Dopier signal and fetal heart rate estimation using autocorrelation technique .

  • Plasma polymerized thin film was prepared using an interelectrod inductively coupled gas-flow-type reactor. Styrene was chosen as the monomer to be used. This thin films were also delineated by the electron-beam apparatus with an acceleration voltage 30kV, and the pattern in the resist was developed with RIE 80 with argon gas mixture ratio, pressure and RF power. The effect of charge of discharge power on growth rate and etching rate of the thin films were studied. The molecular structure of thin films were investigated by FIR and then was discussed in relation to its quality as a resist. In the case of Plasma polymerization, thickness of resist could be controlled by discharge duration and power. Also etch rate is increased as to growing argon gas and RF power with RIE 80.

휠 슬립에 강건한 확장칼만필터 기반 차량 상태 추정 (Vehicle State Estimation Robust to Wheel Slip Using Extended Kalman Filter)

  • Accurate state estimation is important for autonomous driving. However, the estimation error increases in situations that a lot of longitudinal slip occurs. Therefore, this paper presents a vehicle state estimation method using an Extended Kalman Filter. The filter estimates the states of the host vehicle robust to wheel slip. It utilizes the measurements of the four-wheel rotational speeds, longitudinal acceleration, yaw-rate, and steering wheel angle. Nonlinear measurement model is represented by Ackermann Model. The main advantage of this approach is the accurate estimation of yaw rate due to the measurement of the steering wheel angle. The proposed algorithm is verified in scenarios of autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane change (LC), lane keeping (LK) using an automated vehicle. The results show that the proposed algorithm guarantees accurate estimation in such scenarios.

차량궤적자료를 이용한 SSM 산출 방법론 개발과 적용사례 분석 (Methodology for Calculating Surrogate Safety Measure by Using Vehicular Trajectory and Its Application)

  • Surrogate safety measure(SSM)를 이용하여 도로상의 위험을 측정하는 방식은 사고의 직접적인 원인과 연관된 차량의 거동을 분석 대상으로 한다는 장점을 가지고 있으나, 한 지점에 국한된 정보를 이용하기 때문에 위험을 연속적으로 분석하는 데에 제약이 있다. 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해 본 연구에서는 RTK-DGPS를 이용하여 차량들의 궤적을 얻는 방안을 제시하고, 이를 통해 time-to-collision(TTC), deceleration rate to avoid collision(DRAC), acceleration noise(AN) 등의 SSM을 산출하는 데에 필요한 문제들을 고려한 방법론을 설정하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 검토된 방법론을 이용하여 운전 중 발생하는 다양한 차량거동 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 영동고속도로 북수원IC-군포IC 구간을 대상으로 실험을 수행한 결과를 제시하였다. 그 결과 궤적 기반 SSM 지표값이 다양한 주행 상황에서의 위험성을 합리적으로 설명할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 향후 다양한 구간특성 및 운전자 특성에 따른 위험상황을 설명하는 연구를 수행하고, 위험구간 감지 및 위험한 운전행태의 감지를 통한 사고예방에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단되며, 이를 통하여 위험도로 개선 및 교통사고 줄이기 사업을 효율적으로 추진하는 데에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

격심한 운동후 심장박동수에 미치는 인삼 총배당체의 회복 촉진작용 (Acceleratory Action of Ginseng Glycosides on the Recovery Heart Rate after Strenuous Exercise in Men and Women)

  • In 24 men and 12 women recovery of heart rate after strenuous exercise was observed before and after administration of total ginseng glycosides. In men 100 mg of ginseng glycosides were given twice with a 3 hour interval on the day of treadmill test and in women two more administrations of ginseng glycosides were added on the day before the exercise test. The action of ginseng glycosides was interpreted as an adaptogen, i.e., to enhance the recovery to the physiological equilibrium from the displace4 state. Recovery of heart rate to the pre-exercise state was observed for 20 minutes after strenuous exercise of 2 minutes duration on a treadmill (8 km/hr, 15% grade). In men the recovery of heart rate was enhanced$(P<.2{\sim}.4)$ after ginseng glycosides administration. In women the acceleration of recovery heart rate was highly significant $(P<.01{\sim}.05)$ after ginseng glycosides administration. In men and women recovery heart rate at 3 minute of recovery period after ginseng glycosides equaled to the value at 6 minute of recovery period before ginseng administration.

Theoretical gravity studies on roles of convection in crystal growth of $Hg_2Cl_2$-Xe by physical vapor transport under normal and high gravity environments

  • Particular interest in the role of convection in vapor crystal growth has arisen since some single crystals under high gravity acceleration of $10g_0$ appear considerably larger than those under normal gravity acceleration ($1g_0$). For both ${\Delta}T=60\;K$ and 90 K, the mass flux increases by a factor of 3 with increasing the gravity acceleration from $1g_0$ up to $10g_0$. On the other hand, for ${\Delta}T=30\;K$, the flux is increased by a factor of 1.36 for the range of $1g_0{\leq}g{\leq}10g_0$. The maximum growth rates for $1g_0$, $4g_0$, $10g_0$ appear approximately in the neighborhood of y = 0.5, and the growth rates shows asymmetrical patterns, which indicate the occurrence of either one single or more than one convective cell. The maximum growth rate for $10g_0$ is nearly greater than that for $1g_0$ by a factor of 2.0 at $P_B=20\;Torr$. For three different gravity levels of $1g_0$, $4g_0$ and $10g_0$, the maximum growth rates are greater than the minimum rates by a factor of nearly 3.0, based on $P_B=20\;Torr$. The mass flux increases with increasing the gravity acceleration, for $1g_0{\leq}g_y{\leq}10g_0$, and decreases with increasing the partial pressure of component B, xenon (Xe), $P_B$. The $|U|_{max}$ is directly proportional to the gravity acceleration for $20\;Torr{\leq}P_B{\leq}300\;Torr$. As the partial pressure of $P_B$ (Torr) decreases from 300 Torr to 20 Torr, the slopes of the $|U|_{max}s$ versus the gravity accelerations increase from 0.1 sec to 0.17 sec. The mass flux of $Hg_2Cl_2$ is exponentially decayed with increasing the partial pressure of component B, $P_B$ (Torr) from 20 Torr up to 300 Torr.
