The Effects of Yangsimtang on Stress and Immune System (양심탕(養心湯)이 스트레스와 면역기능(免疫機能)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • After applying the gravity acceleration stress to a mice, the effect on organ index was examined, and the Con A stimulating proliferation rate of splenocytes, expression of IL-2 receptor and T cell subsets of thymocytes were analyzed and also clearance of C. neoformans was measured. The results were as follows :1. Form finding the organ index after 4 days stress, the indexes of the spleen and thymus were reduced in the res group exposed to the gravity acceleration.2. From finding the proliferation rate by stimulating the splenocytes with Con 4 after 7 days stress, the proliferation rates were all reduced in the stress group, the Yangsimtang group, and the stress and Yangsimtang group. 3. The expression of IL-2 receptor in resting stage was reduced, comparing to the test group, both in the stress group and the Yangsimtang group, however, comparing to the stress group, it was somewhat recovered in the stress and Yangsimtang group.4. To see the IL-2 receptor driven-out after being stimulated by Con-A, the expression of IL-2 receptor was all reduced in the stress group, the Yangsimtang group, and the stress and Yangsimtang group.5. To the rate of T cell subsets of thymus, there's no difference, comparing to the test group, in the Yangsimtang group, however, the rate of $CD4^+CD8^-,\;CD4^-CD8^+,\;and\;CD4^-CD8^-$ cell was significantly reduced in the stress group. And, the $CD4^+CD8^+$ which had been reduced by stress was somewhat recovered in the stress and Yangsimtang group.6. To the effect on the clearance of C, neoformans infection, the numbers of fungi detected at the spleen was, comparing to the test group, increased by 12.6 tines in the Yangsimtang group.

  • Photoplethysmogram(PPG) is the method to obtain the biomedical signal using the linear relationships between the blood volume for changing the cardiac contraction and relaxation and the amount of light for absorbing the hemoglobin in the blood. In this paper, we proposed the analyzed results which show the heart rate variability and the distribution of heart rate for before and after using PPG. Moreover, this paper designed and implemented the system based on personal computer to predict cardiovascular disease in advance using the analyzed results for the autonomic balance from taking the spectral analysis of heart rate and the state of the blood vessel for analyzing APG(acceleration plethysmogram).

  • There are reports showing that electromagnetic fields (EMFs) emitted at non-thermal levels may be associated with biological alterations in target cells. In this study it is objected to assess the potential influences of EMFs produced by cellular phones on fetal heart rate. Non Stress Test (NST) is a widely used method of fetal monitoring and assessing fetal health and well-being. Sixty volunteers with uncomplicated term pregnancies were studied by a Spacelabs AM-67 Doppler ultrasound monitor. Fetal Heart Rate recordings were obtained while there were no Cellular Phone around for 10 minutes. Afterwards, all patients were exposed to EMFs for 10 minutes. NST was performed while they were holding the CP on stand-by mode and then on dialing mode, each for 5 minutes. The recordings were analyzed with respect to baseline heart rate, accelerations and decelerations. The Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed-ranks test was used to compare these variables. The results indicate that EMFs emitted by CP do not cause any demonstrable effects on baseline FHR, acceleration or deceleration.

  • Off-line feed rate scheduling is an advanced methodology to automatically determine optimum feed rates for the optimization of NC code. However, the present feed rate scheduling systems have lim~tations to generate the optimized NC codes because they use the material removal rate or non-generalized cutting force model. In this paper, a feed rate scheduling system based on an improved cutting force model that can predrct cutting forces exactly in general machining was presented. Original blocks of NC code were divided to small ones with the modified feed rates to adjust the peak value of cutting forces to a constant vale. The characteristic of acceleration and deceleration for a given machrne tool was considered when off-line feed rate scheduhng was performed. Software for the NC code optimization was developed and applied to pocket machining simulation.

Infeed Control Algorithm of Sorting System Using Modified Trapezoidal Velocity Profiles

  • This paper applies acceleration/deceleration control-based velocity profiles to an infeed control algorithm for a cross-belt-type sorting system to improve the accuracy and performance of the system's infeed. The velocity profiles are of a trapezoidal shape and often have to be modified to ensure that parcels correctly synchronize with their intended carriers. Under the proposed method, an infeed line can handle up to 5,600 items/h, which indicates a 40% increase in performance in comparison with its existing handling rate of 4,000 items/h. This improvement in performance may lead to a reduction in the number of infeed lines required in a sorting system. The proposed infeed control algorithm is applied to a cross-belt-type sorting system (model name: SCS 1500) manufactured by Vanderlande Industries.

  • This study investigates the response characteristics of a four-cylinder four-stroke turbocharged diesel engine by using computer simulation and experiments when a rapid acceleration is applied to the fuelpump rack. In the theoretical analysis, linearization method is used to avoid the difficulty on the complex nonlinear functions. Comppressor exit pressure, pressure and temperature of turbine inlet, and turbocharger speed are chosen as the independent variables of transfer functions which represent the dynamic characteristics of the turbocharger system, and expressed as the functions with respect to the time. Experiments on the same eigine system are also carried out to prove the validity of theoretical study. Further, this study carried an experiment for improving transient response performance by injecting air into the inlet manifold under the rapid accelerating conditions. The effects of air injection on the response performances are also represented at varying conditions such as injection pressure, injection period, accelerating rate, accelerating time, engine speed and load.

  • This paper presents the use of 3 axis accelerometer for getting the gait information including the number of gaits, stride and walking distance. Travel distance is usually calculated from the double integration of the accelerometer output with respect to time; however, the accumulated errors due to the drift are inevitable. The orientation change of the accelerometer also causes error because the gravity is added to the measured acceleration. Unless three axis orientations are completely identified, the accelerometer alone does not provide correct acceleration for estimating the travel distance. We proposed a way of minimizing the error due to the change of the orientation. Pedestrian localization is implemented with the heading angle and the travel distance. Heading angle is estimated from the rate gyro and the magnetic compass measurements. The performance of the localization is presented with experimental data.

  • This paper presents a new method of tool path optimization. A NC verification model based Z-map was utilized to obtain chip load in feed per tooth. This developed software can regenerate a NC program from cutting condition and the NC program that was generated in CAM. The regenerated NC program has not only all same data of the ex-NC program but also the new feed rates in every block. The new NC data can reduce the cutting time and manufacture precision dies with the same chip load in feed per tooth. This method can also prevent tool chipping and make constant tool wear. This paper considered the effects of acceleration and deceleration in feed rate change.

  • This article described that a high Reynolds number version of a turbulence model was modified by using drag reduction to analyze the turbulent flows of non-Newtonian fluid with visco-elastic viscosity and it was applied hemodynamics which was representative of visco-elastic fluid. The turbulence characteristics of visco-elastic fluid was expanded viscous sublayer region and buffer layer region by drag reduction phenomenon and also Newtonian turbulence models does not predict because viscosity was related with shear rate of fluid flow. Hence numerical simulation using a modified turbulence model was conducted under the same conditions that were applied to obtain the experiment results and previous turbulence models and then the numerical investigation of turbulent blood flow in the stenosed artery bifurcation under periodic acceleration of the human body.
