The fluoroquinolones are an important group of antibiotics widely used in the treatment of various infectious diseases in adults, as a result of an excellent spectrum of activity, good tissue penetration and convenient ways of administration. In recent decades, there has been extensive development, clinical investigation, licensure and use of fluoroquinolone antibiotics. However, the use of fluoroquinolones in children has been limited because of their potential to induce arthropathy in juvenile animals. Despite class label warnings against use in children, prescriptions for quinolone antibiotics to treat infections in children have become increasingly prevalent. The main use of fluoroquinolones in pediatrics should be, understandably, in serious life-threatening infections for which other antibiotics therapies are not effective or available. While most of the published studies failed to detect an increased rate of articular adverse effects in children treated with fluoroquinolones, an increase in the use of these compounds, particularly in community-acquired lower respiratory infections, could accelerate the emergence of multidrug-resistant (including fluoroquinolone) pneumococcal strains. This review will discus the main issues related to the use of fluoroquinolones in children, the major problems of resistance developing among these compounds, with special emphasis on the potential side effects and skilled use of these alternative potent drugs in pediatric infection.
This study aimed to investigate the effect of temperature and solid retention time (SRT) on membrane fouling in a membrane bioreactors (MBRs). For this purpose, a lab-scale submerged MBR system was used. This system operated at two SRTs of 15 and 5 days, three various temperatures (20, 25 and $30^{\circ}C$) and hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 8 h. The results indicated that decreased the cake layer resistance and increased particles size of foulant due to increasing temperature and SRT. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis show that the cake layer formed on the membrane surface, contained high levels of proteins and especially polysaccharides in extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) but absorbance intensity of EPS functional groups decreased with temperature and SRT. EEM analysis showed that the peak on the range of Ex/Em=220-240/350-400 in SRT of 15 and temperature of $30^{\circ}C$ indicates the presence of fulvic acid in the cake. In addition, as the temperature rise from 20 to $30^{\circ}C$, concentration of soluble microbial products (SMP) increased and COD removal reached 89%. Furthermore, the rate of membrane fouling was found to increase with decreasing temperature and SRT.
Chitosan is the affinitive finishing agent and gives susceptible effect in textile finishing. In order to examine the modification of polyester fabric treated with chitosan, we observed the characteristic of polyester fabric surface and measured its physical properties. For the purpose of confirming the adhesion of cationic material, we made a comparative study on anionic acid dye. The fabric was treated with crosslinking agent after chitosan finishing. Glutardialdehyde as crosslinking agent was used to improve the fixation rate of chitosan on the polyester fabric. And the US value was increased according to increasing of chitosan concentration. As the concentration of crosslinking agent was increased, whiteness index of the fabric chitosan treated was increased. Moisture regain of the fabric treated with $1\%$ chitosan was doubled and that treated with $2\%$ chitosan was tripled comparing with original fabric. Tensile strength of the chitosan treated fabric had been an increase of $10\%$ compared with alkali treated fabric and crease resistance decreased regardless of chitosan concentration.
Nowadays, the amount used carpets are on the increase, according to the improvement of life-style. The pleasantness of carpet is caused by the properties of pile, because the most carpets are made pile fabric. For that reason, a study on the compressional properties of carpet is very important issue. This study has been carried out to investigate the differences of compressional properties in various acrylic carpets which were Cut, Tufted, Jacquard and Shag. Each acrylic carpets was transformed to 4, 6, 8 mm of pile height, as results of transformation, we could get the pressure-thickness curve and pressure-deformation curve. The results are summarized as follows. 1. Rate of compression increases, compressive resistance and compressive elasticity decr-eases, as pile height increases. 2. Regardless of pile height, compressive elasticity reached the limit in recovery period at about 10 minutes. 3. Work of compression increases, as pile height increases. 4. Work of compression decreases, as apparent density increases. 5, Cut-type carpet has the best cushion.

Trapezoidal Cemented Sand and Gravel Dam, namely Trapezoid CSG, is a new type of dam. Due to lack of dynamic studies in the field of CSG dam, this research was performed to analyze Trapezoidal CSG dam using dynamic Finite element method with ABAQUS Software. To investigate possible earthquake-induced damages, fragility curves are plotted based on damage index, the length of the cracks created at the dam base and the area of cracked elements in the dam. The seismic analysis indicated that minimum and maximum tensions are generated in the heel and toe of the dam, respectively. According to the fragility curves, with increase in PGA, the possibility of the exceeding the defined limit state is increased. However, the rate of increment is significantly reduced after PGA=0.4 g. Also, the same result is achieved for the second limit state. The "area of cracked elements" is more conservative criterion than the "crack length at the dam base", especially at PGA<0.4 g. As conclusion, CSG dams, despite of being made of poor materials in comparison with concrete dams, show good resistance, and even in some situations, better performance than the weighted concrete dams.
Tribological behavior of novolac resin-based friction materials with three different relative amounts of graphite and zirconium silicate was investigated by using a pad-on-disk type friction tester. The goal of this paper is to examine the effects of the relative amount of a lubricant and an abrasive in the automotive friction material on friction and wear characteristics at elevated temperature. Friction and wear of friction materials were affected by the existence of transfer film(3$\^$rd/ body layer) at friction interface and the composition of friction material, especially lubricant amount. The friction material with higher content of graphite indicated homogenized and durable transfer film, and resulted in stable friction coefficient regardless of the increase in friction heat. The experimental result also showed that the higher concentration of ZrSiO$_4$ in friction material aggravated friction stability and wear resistance due to the higher friction heat generated at fiction interface during high temperature friction test.
Indium tin oxide (ITO) transparent electrodes, which are used to manufacture organic light-emitting diodes, are used in light-emitting surface electrodes of display EL panels such as cell phones and TVs, liquid crystal panels, transparent switches, and plane heating elements. ITO is a major component that consists of indium and tin and is advantageous in terms of obtaining sheet resistance and light transmittance in a thin film. However, the optical performance of devices decreases with an increase in its thickness. A digital holography system was constructed and measured for the step measurement of the ITO thin film, and the reliability of the technique was verified by comparing the FE-SEM measurement results. The error rate of the step difference measurement was within ±5%. This result demonstrated that this technique is useful for applications in advanced MEMS and NEMS industrial fields.
Alloy 617 is a candidate Ni-based superalloy for intermediate heat exchanger (IHX) of a high-temperature gas reactor (VHTR), because of its good creep strength and corrosion resistance at high temperature. Small amount of impurities such as $H_2O$, $H_2$, CO and $CH_4$ are introduced inevitably in helium, as a coolant during operation of a VHTR. Reactions of material and impurities are accelerated with increase of temperature to $950^{\circ}C$ of operating temperature of a VHTR, leading to material corrosion aggravation. In this circumstance, high-temperature corrosion tests were performed at $950^{\circ}C$ in air and impure helium environments, up to 250 hours in this study. Oxidation rate of $950^{\circ}C$ in an air environment was higher than that of impure helium, explained by difference in outer oxide morphology and microstructure as a function of oxygen partial pressure. An equiaxed Cr-rich surface oxide layer was formed in an air environment, and a columnar Cr-rich oxide was formed in an impure helium environment.
This paper reports the effect of adding reduced graphene oxide (RGO) as a conductive material to the composition of an electrode for capacitive deionization (CDI), a process to remove salt from water using ionic adsorption and desorption driven by external applied voltage. RGO can be synthesized in an inexpensive way by the reduction and exfoliation of GO, and removing the oxygen-containing groups and recovering a conjugated structure. GO powder can be obtained from the modification of Hummers method and reduced into RGO using a thermal method. The physical and electrochemical characteristics of RGO material were evaluated and its desalination performance was tested with a CDI unit cell with a potentiostat and conductivity meter, by varying the applied voltage and feed rate of the salt solution. The performance of RGO was compared to graphite as a conductive material in a CDI electrode. The result showed RGO can increase the capacitance, reduce the equivalent series resistance, and improve the electrosorption capacity of CDI electrode.

Electrical and optical properties of $SiO_2$-doped ZnO (SZO) films on the corning 7059 glass substrates by using rfmagnetron sputtering method are investigated. The deposition rate becomes maximum near 3 wt.% and gradually decreases when the $SiO_2$ content further increases. The growth rates at 3 wt.% is $4^{\circ}$A/s. We found that the average transmittance of all films is over 80% in the wavelength range above 500 nm. The optical band gap decreases from 3.52 to 3.33 eV with an increase in thickness. X-ray diffraction patterns show that the film with a relatively low $SiO_2$ content (< 4 wt.%) is amorphous. SZO films at the $SiO_2$ contents of 2 wt.% shows the resistivity of about $3.8{\times}10^{-3}{\cdot}cm$. The sheet resistance decreases with increasing the heat treatment temperature.
