고속 운전 시 WRSM의 성능 향상 및 IPMSM과 비교 (High Speed Performance Improvement of the WRSM and its Comparison with the IPMSM)

  • This paper shows an improvement of the WRSM (Wound Rotor Synchronous Motor) by satisfying the voltage limit condition at high speed. After that, it compares the performance of the improved WRSM to that of the IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor). The comparison has been made under the condition where the dimension of the motor is identical to that of the IPMSM, having the rotor switched to a wounded rotor form. Moreover, this paper compares the Basic Model of the two motor, and estimates the parameters of the WRSM, thereby proposing the method to improve high speed performance. Furthermore, this paper presents the feasibility of switching the conventional motor into rare-earth-free motors for traction purpose.

Flux Pinning Properties of REBCO coated conductors for High Field Magnets

  • From the viewpoint of high field application, the mechanical and critical current properties of recently developed $REBa_2Cu_3O_y$ (RE123, RE: rare-earth) coated conductors are summarized. In addition, effective flux pinning mechanisms in RE123 are also introduced. As one of the examples for high field application, the upgrading of the 18 T cryogen-free superconducting magnet is shown. The large anisotropy of $J_c$ is a problem at low temperature and high magnetic field. The nanorod is considered as the useful methods to improve the anisotropy of $J_c$, although its efficiency becomes small at low temperature.

  • 지구 중력장 내에 위치한 물체는 연직 아래 방향의 힘을 받고 있다. 중력장 내에서 물체의 운동을 기술하기 위하여 운동상태 방정식을 이용한다. 자유 낙하하는 물체를 해석할 때 기준 방향은 연직 하방을 +y으로, 연직위로 던져 올린 물체를 해석할 때 기준방향은 연직상방을 +y으로, 연직 아래로 던져 내린 물체를 해석할 때, 기준 방향은 연직 하방을 +y으로 선택하여 해석함이 일반적이다. 이 논문에서는 두 벡터의 스칼라 곱 (즉, 도트 곱)을 이용하여 연직 상방 또는 하방 두 경우를 방향으로 선택하여 구성한 벡터 운동 상태 방정식(vector kinematics equations)을 해석의 결과가 서로 일치함을 제시한다. 두 벡터의 스칼라 곱 (즉, 도트 곱)을 이용하여 물체의 상태 방정식를 해석한 예는 선행 연구에서 거의 찾아볼 수가 없다. 이 결과를 이용하면, 수평면의 방향 또는 빗각을 이루는 방향의 초속도로 던져 올리거나 던져 내린 물체의 운동 상태를 해석하기 위하여 연직 기준 방향을 상방 또는 하방으로 임의 선택할 수가 있다.

  • Bismuth titanate ($Bi_4Ti_3O_{12}$, BIT) thin film has been studied intensively in the past decade due to its large remanent polarization, low crystallization temperature, and high Curie temperature. Substitution of various trivalent rare-earth cations (such as $La^{3+}$, $Nd^{3+}$, $Sm^{3+}$ and $Pr^{3+}$) in the BIT structure is known to improve its ferroelectric properties, such as remanent polarization and fatigue characteristics. Among them, neodymuim-substituted bismuth titanate, ((Bi, Nd)$_4Ti_3O_{12}$, BNT) has been receiving much attention due to its larger ferroelectricity. In this study, Ferroelectric $Bi_{3.3}Nd_{0.7}Ti_3O_{12}$ thin films were successfully fabricated by liquid delivery MOCVD process onto Pt(111)/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si(l00) substrates. Fabricated polycrystailine BNT thin films were found to be random orientations, which were confirmed by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope analyses. The remanent polarization of these films increased with increase in annealing temperature. And the film also demonstrated fatigue-free behavior up to $10^{11}$ read/write switching cycles. These results indicate that the randomly oriented BNT thin film is a promising candidate among ferroelectric materials useful for lead-free nonvolatile ferroelectric random access memory applications.

  • This paper reports the effect of a refractory crucible type on the microstructure of duplex stainless steel (DSS) cast with the addition of gadolinium using air-induction melting. Grade 4A DSSs with 1 wt% of gadolinium (Gd) were fabricated in various crucibles including alumina ($Al_2O_3$), magnesia (MgO), calcia (CaO) coated with yttria ($Y_2O_3$) and graphite. The standard free energies of the formation of calcium and yttrium oxide were lower than those of gadolinium oxide and other crucible elements based oxide. The yield of Gd in DSS using $Al_2O_3$, MgO, CaO-coated $Y_2O_3$ and graphite was 5, 19, 83 and 96%, respectively. As Gd yield increased, the amount of Gd-based inclusions increased, the size of the inclusions were reduced, and the inclusions became evenly distributed.

Effect of REM Addition on The Surface Tension and The Critical Temperature of The Immiscible Liquid Phase Separation of The 60%Bi-24%Cu-16%Sn alloy

  • For the fabrication of core-shell structure bimetallic lead-free solder balls, both the critical temperature ($T_{cr}$) for the phase separation of two immiscible liquid phases and the temperature coefficient of the interfacial tension between the two separated liquid phases are required. In order to obtain this information, the temperature dependence of the surface tension of 60%Bi-24%Cu-16%Sn(-REM) alloys was measured using the constrained drop method. The slope of the temperature dependence of the surface tension changed clearly at a critical temperature for the separation of two immiscible liquid phases. The critical temperature of the 60%Bi-24%Cu-16%Sn alloy was estimated to be 1097K. An addition of 0.05% Ce decreased the critical temperature to 1085K, whereas that of 0.05% La increased it to 1117K. It was found that the surface tension and its temperature coefficient of the 60%Bi-24%Cu-16%Sn alloy were slightly increased by the addition of 0.05% Ce and 0.05% La. In addition, additions of Ce and La increased the temperature coefficient of the interfacial tension.

Accurate electronic structures for Ce doped SiAlON using a semilocal exchange-correlation potential

  • White light-emitting diodes (LEDs), the so-called next-generation solid-state lighting, offer benefits in terms of reliability, energy-saving, maintenance, safety, lead-free, and eco-friendly. Recently, rare-earth-doped oxynitride or nitride compounds have attracted a great deal of interest as a photoluminescent material because of their unique luminescent property, especially for white LEDs applications. Ce doped ${\beta}$-SiAlON has been studied as a wavelength conversion phosphor in white LEDs thanks to its high absorption rates, high quantum efficiency, and excellent thermal stability. Previously researches were not enough to understand the detail mechanism and characteristics of ${\beta}$-SiALON. The bandgap structures and electronic structures were not exact due to limitation of calculation methods. In this study, to elucidate the Ce doping effect on the SiAlON system, accurate band structures and electronic structure of the Ce doped ${\beta}$-SiAlON was intensively investigated using density functional theory calculations. In order to get a better description of the band gaps, MBJLDA method were used. We have found a single Ce atom site in ${\beta}$-SiAlON super cell. Furthermore, the density of state, band structure and lattice constant were intensively investigated.

REBa2Cu3O7-x (RE=Nd, Gd, Dy) 초전도체의 열처리에 따른 상변태와 미세구조 (Phase Transformation and Misconstruct of REBa2Cu3O7-x (RE=Nd, Gd, Dy) Superconductor during Heat treatment)

  • This study investigated the phase transformation of the REBa$_2$Cu$_3$$O_{7-x}$ (RE=Nd, Gd, Dy) superconductor, and CCT (Continuous-Cooling-Transformation) along with the TTT (Time-Temperature-Transformation) diagrams are suggested according to the isothermal and continuous cooling heat-treatments. The peritectic temperature of the 123 phases decreased approximately 3$0^{\circ}C$ when the ionic radius of the rare-earth elements was reduced. The optimum cooling rate where BC and Cu-free phases do not exist was 0.001$^{\circ}C$/s. At this cooling late, the 123 phase grew with a c-axis Perpendicular to the surface and had a well-distributed 211 phase. When the oxygen partial pressure was reduced Outing isothermal heat-treatment, the formation temperature of the 211 phase decreased. In addition, the formation temperature of the 123 phases decreased from 100$0^{\circ}C$ (Nd-123) to 9$25^{\circ}C$ (Gd-123), and finally 875$^{\circ}C$ (Dy-123) according to the decrease in the ionic radius of the tare-earth elements. Compared to Nd-123, Gd- and Dy-123 had a better texture with a well-distributed 211 phase.e.

Sm 농도에 따른 무연 3상 유리계의 합성과 물리적 성질 (Synthesis and Physical Properties of Sm Doped Pb Free 3 Phase-Glasses)

  • Glasses were prepared with compositions of $(13-x)BaO-80B2_O_3-7Li_2O{\cdot}xSm_2O_3$, BBLSx(x=0.5, 0.4, 0.3) by melting the starting materials of boron oxide(99.9%), lithium oxide(99.9%), barium carbon oxide(99.9%), and samarium oxide(99.9%) and then quenching the melt at $1350^{\circ}C$. This led to good-quality BBLSx(x=0.4, 0.3) and poor-quality BBLSx(x=0.5) glasses. The physical and structural properties of the BBLSx glasses were studied by means x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), and dielectric spectroscopy. From the x-ray diffraction and SEM results, the quality of the BBLSx glasses significantly depends on the $Sm_2O_3$ concentration. The x-ray diffraction pattern showed that the crystallites in the BBLSx glasses after heat treatment at $700^{\circ}C$ may be $LiBaB_9O_{15}$. From the DSC results, the glass transition temperatures($T_g$), crystallization temperatures($T_c$), and the maximum temperatures of the crystallized($T_p$) BBLSx glasses all changed with the $Sm_2O_3$ concentration. According to the dielectric spectroscopy results, the values of the real dielectric constant and Tan ${\delta}$ of the BBLSx glasses depended on the $Sm_2O_3$ concentration. The values of the real dielectric constant and Tan ${\delta}$ were also shown to depend on the measuring temperature, possibly due to the ion migration in the bulk of the BBLSx glasses.

산소-공융염 기포탑에서 희토류염화물의 산화반응 특성 (Characteristic of Oxidation Reaction of Lanthanide Chlorides in Oxygen-Eutectic Salt Bubble Column)

  • 산소-공융염(LiCl-KCl) 기포탑에서 4종의 희토류염화물($Ce/Nd/Pr/EuCl_3$)의 산화반응 특성에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. HSC Chemistry software를 이용한 모델링 결과 산소 및 희토류염화물이 존재하는 계에서 가장 안정된 화합물은 옥시염화물(EuOCl, NdOCl, PrOCl)과 산화물($CeO_2$, $PrO_2$)이었으며, 이러한 결과는 옥시염화물 및 산화물이 형성되는 반응의 Gibbs 자유에너지 경향성과도 일치하였다. 실험결과 공융염 내에서 산소와 희토류염화물과의 반응으로 산소분산 시간 및 공융염 온도와 상관없이 Eu, Nd, Pr은 옥시염화물로, Ce, Pr은 산화물형태의 침전물로 형성되었으며, 이러한 결과는 열역학적 데이터를 이용한 모델링 결과와 일치하였다. 4종의 복합희토류 침전물은 등방형태와 정방형태의 침전물로 구분되었는데 주사전자현미경(SEM-EDS) 분석결과 등방구조(cubic structure) 형태의 침전물은 산화물이었고, 정방형 구조(tetragonal structure)의 침전물은 옥시염화물이었다. 실험에 사용된 4종의 희토류염화물의 공융염에 불용성인 침전물로의 전환효율은 온도 및 분산시간이 증가하면 증가하였으며, Ce가 가장 빠른 반응특성을 나타내었다. $650^{\circ}C$의 공융염 온도 및 420분의 산소분산시간 조건에서 4종의 희토류염화물의 산화효율은 모두 99% 이상이었다.
