  • The integration of rapid prototyping and tooling has the potential for the rapid net shape manufacturing of three-dimensional parts with geometrical complexity. In this study, a new rapid prototyping process, transfer type of Variable Lamination Manufacturing (VLM-ST), was proposed to manufacture net shape of 3-D prototypes. In order to examine the efficiency and applicability of the proposed process, various 3-D parts, such as a world-cup logo, and extruded cross and a knob shape, were fabricated on the apparatus. In addition, the new rapid tooling process, which is a triple reverse process, was proposed to manufacture of 3-D functional part using VLM-ST prototypes and the plastic part of the knob shape was produced by the new rapid tooling process.

  • Recently, in order to satisfy the consumer's demand the life cycle and the lead-time of a product is to be shortened. It is thus important to reduce the time and cost in manufacturing trial products. Several techniques have been developed and successfully commercialized in the market RPM(Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing). However, most commercial systems currently use resins or waxes as the raw materials. So, the limited mechanical strength for functional testing is regarded as an obstacle towards broader application of rapid prototyping techniques. To overcome this problems, high-speed machining technology is being investigated worldwide for rapid manufacturing and even for direct rapid tooling application. In this paper, some fundamental experiments and analyses are carried out to obtain the filling time, materials, method, and process parameters for HisRP process. HisRP is a combination process using high-speed machining technology with automatic filling. In filling process, Bi58-Sn alloy is chosen because of the properties of los-melting point, low coefficient of thermal expansion and enviromental friendship. Also the use of filling wire is of advantage in term of simple and flexible mechanism. Then the rapid manufacturing product, for example a skull, is machined for aluminum material by HisRP process with an automatic set-up device of 4-faces machining.

  • Rapid Prototyping (RP) and Rapid Tooling (RT) were introduced to reduce time-to-market and cost by shortening not only the development phase but also the production phase of the manufacturing process. RP generally builds up a prototype layer by layer, rapidly generating a fully three-dimensional free form shape. RT enables the manufacture of production tools. The integration of RP and RT has the potential for rapid net shaping of thee-dimensional parts, which have geometrical complexity. In this study, net shaping techniques for making three-dimensional parts using RP and RT are described and a sample part are shown. A three-dimensional metal part is manufactured by a new RP process, Variable Lamination Manufacturing by using Expandable Polystyrene Foam (VLM-S), and its application to RT for making a clover punch. In addition, we discussed the technology fusion between metal forming md RP/RT.

  • Rapid prototyping technologies have been widely used to reduce the development cost of new products. Manufacturing industries are nowadays characterized by the flexibility and complexity of products. This to due to the rapid development of manufacturing technology and diverse needs of customers. In this paper, the burning condition for getting casting product of resin pattern have been examined experimentally. In generally, the burning conditions have effect on the casting products. Using the direct casting. we directly producted the jewelry.

  • This paper is described manufacturing to jewelry by using rapid prototype. At that time, the SLC file is useful for solved generating errors to part build file. Then. we have reduced the time of manufacturing complicated three-dimensional form. Generally, it is used the STL file for rapid prototype that it is necessary to considerable time when complicated firm as jewelry generated pan build file. But the SLC file is solved to problem because it consists of configuration of a section. Neter the less, Generating Part build file hate had a lot of problem when the SLC file is used.

  • Recently, the lead-time of a product is to be shortened in order to satisfy consumer's demand. It is thus important to reduce the manufacturing time and the cost of 3D-shaped microstructures. Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) and devices are usually fabricated by lithography-based methods. Above method is not flexible for the rapid manufacture of 3D-shaped microstructures because it depends on work's experiences and requires excessive cost and time for making many masks. In this paper, the effective laser micrornachining is developed to fabricate UV sensitive polymer microstructures using laser ablation. The proposed process, named by laser microRP, is a very useful method on rapid manufacturing for 3D-shaped microstructures.

  • The business of manufacturing is increasingly becoming time-compressing, precise and long-life oriented, owing to various needs from the consumers and harsh global competition. With the emergence of the layer laminate manufacturing method, it is possible to produce prototypes directly from 3D CAD and additive process, the production time and cost have shortened dramatically. However there are some problems like surface-step, dimensional deviation and warp. A newly developed powder casting is suitable for rapid-manufacturing metallic tools. Powder casting can serve as a promising rapid tooling method because of high density characteristics and low dimensional shrinkage below 0.1% during sintering and infiltration. By this process, we have realized significant time savings bypassing the wait for prototype tooling and cost savings eliminating the expense of conventional prototype tooling process.

  • The integration of Rapid prototyping (RP) and Rapid Tooling (RT) has the potential for rapid net shaping of thee-dimensional parts, which have a geometrical complexity. In this study, a new R)P process, (VLM-SP), was proposed to manufacture net shapes of three-dimensional prototypes and it was shown that VLM-SP is an effective and economic process through the comparison of building time, building cost and dimensional accuracy for the test parts with the commercial RP processes ; LOM and FDM. In addition, the metal parts, which are a spanner shape and a clover punch, were produced by the plaster casting as one of RT using the prototypes of VLM-SP.
