  • This paper investigates the rank system of official uniforms of Qing dynasty to analyze ethnic characteristics of the official uniforms. As a research document, Qing Huidian Tu(청회전도) has been used. The official uniforms of Qing dynasty were chao-fu(조복), ji-fu(길복), chang-fu(상복), hang-fu(행복), and yu-fu(우복), which were used in different occasions. Each of the five official uniforms had distinct items. For example, chao-fu(조복) consisted of four items: chao-guan(조관), chao-fu(조복), chao-dai(조대), and chao-zhu(조주), and ji-fu(길복) consisted of four items: ji-fu-guan(길복관), long-pao(용포), ji-fu-dai(길복대), and chao-zhu(조주). Each of these items had elements that made distinction between ranks. This research shows that the important elements to make distinction between ranks were textiles, precious stones, patterns and colors, and additionally the number of Bo(보) and the types of Bo(보) were used.

  • In this study, the thermal behavior and combustion characteristics of different ranks of coals and their blends were investigated to obtain information necessary for the evaluation of the co-processing of blends with low-rank coals. Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) and differential thermal analysis(DTA) were carried out at different temperature from ambient temperature to $800^{\circ}C$, and a laboratory-scale pulverized coal combustion burner was used with coal feeing rate of $1.04{\times}10^{-4}kg/s$.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel approach to improve histogram equalization for speaker identification. Our method collects all speech features of UBM training data to make a reference distribution. The ranks of the feature vectors are calculated in the sorted list of the collection of the UBM training data and the test data. We use the ranks to perform order-based histogram equalization. The proposed method improves the accuracy of the speaker recognition system with short utterances. We use four kinds of speech databases to evaluate the proposed speaker recognition system and compare the system with cepstral mean normalization (CMN), mean and variance normalization (MVN), and histogram equalization (HEQ). Our system reduced the relative error rate by 33.3% from the baseline system.

  • There are two approaches for evaluating two or more investment projects. One is a total investment approach and the other is an incremental investment approach. We present that ranking projects by the latter is not sufficient for an investor to accept the next best alternative. We prove that ranking projects by the former is superior to that by the latter. We also prove that the ranks obtained by the criteria like ORR and B/C ratio are consistent to the ranks by DCF criteria. However the result is different when IRR is adapted.

  • The purpose of this research is to comprehend experimentally the characteristic of human dynamic load and provide the result as basic data to suggest a valid impact-resistance evaluation method. Human motions exerting dynamic load are classified to 3 types. Selecting 3 ranks of motion strength, 3 ranks of load plane stiffness (A:20kN/cm, B:4.7kN/cm, C:2.2kN/cm), and 30 male grownup inspectors in their twenties, load was measured when they applied force on load plane. Result of this research is as follows: (1) Human dynamic load has different nature from object collision in the highest load ratio depending on the load plane stiffness and action time (2) The highest load ratio for each motion was 10.06 for kicking, 4.44 for hitting with shoulder, and 5.58 for fist blow.

  • A rank 1 matrix has a factorization as $uv^t$ for vectors u and v of some orders. The arctic rank of a rank 1 matrix is the half number of nonzero entries in u and v. A matrix of rank k can be expressed as the sum of k rank 1 matrices, a rank 1 decomposition. The arctic rank of a matrix A of rank k is the minimum of the sums of arctic ranks of the rank 1 matrices over all rank 1 decomposition of A. In this paper we obtain characterizations of the linear operators that strongly preserve the symmetric arctic ranks of symmetric matrices over nonnegative reals.

  • This paper ranks higher education in Korea based upon research productivity in business and economics disciplines. The number of SCI-level journal articles are tabulated using the Web of Science search engine, over the sample period from 1990 to 2016. The league table shows that many private universities dominate top-tier ranks, which is consistent with the school reputations most commonly cited by the general public in Korea. In contrast, many national universities appear in the second-tier, and their scanty performance in business and economics is in sharp contrast with our earlier findings in which national universities performed well in science and engineering fields (Jin and Kim, 2018). In addition, the ranking order in lower-ranked schools is found to be sensitive to a small change in publications, whereas the publication gap among top-tier schools is relatively large. Finally, unlike our general perception, the size of school does not matter for collaborative research. Some policy implications are discussed as a conclusion.

  • In this paper, we investigate a few strategies to construct Ulrich bundles of small ranks over smooth fourfolds in ℙ5, with a focus on the case of special quartic fourfolds. First, we give a necessary condition for Ulrich bundles over a very general quartic fourfold in terms of the rank and the Chern classes. Second, we give an equivalent condition for Pfaffian fourfolds in every degree in terms of arithmetically Gorenstein surfaces therein. Finally, we design a computer-based experiment to look for Ulrich bundles of small rank over special quartic fourfolds via deformation theory. This experiment gives a construction of numerically Ulrich sheaf of rank 4 over a random quartic fourfold containing a del Pezzo surface of degree 5.

  • Since the premature convergence phenomenon of genetic algorithms (GAs) degrades the performances of GAs significantly, solving this problem provides a lot of effects to the performances of GAs. In this paper, we propose a selective mutation method in order to improve the performances of GAs by alleviating this phenomenon. In the selective mutation, individuals are additionally mutated at the specific region according to their ranks. From this selective mutation, individuals with low ranks are changed a lot and those with high ranks are changed small in the phenotype. Finally, some good individuals search around them in detail and the other individuals have more chances to search new areas. This results in enhancing the performances of GAs through alleviating of the premature convergence phenomenon. We measured the performances of our method with four typical function optimization problems. It was found from experiments that our proposed method considerably improved the performances of GAs.

  • This study has aimed at establishing of the new administration scheme related to the goal of police like the investigation division through analyses of differences on the role perception of female police officers. In a related matter, work characteristics include ranks, working areas, working priods and the dependent variables of the role perception of female police officers are composed of 3 items like task role, group maintenance role and individual role. As a result, the differences by ranks, working areas, working priods that were analyzed by using one-way ANOVA showed significant differences in the each dependent variables. The results showed that the female police officers whose ranks were higher, who had been employed longer, and whose working areas were places where the cases occurred a lot more showed great point in mean value not only on task role but also on group maintenance role. The result of the study suggests a direction to achieve the best efficacy of police duties such as a criminal investigation, the prevention of crime and presents an useful indication to redefine the role.
