  • In general, a third rail current collecting shoegear is used widely in the light rail transit system, which is more efficient than overhead pantograph. Therefore, Korean standard specifications for the light rail transit prescribes for the application of it. This paper describes the development of third rail current collecting shoegears, which is suitable to Korean situation and satisfied with Korean standard specifications, Two types are developed for steel wheel AGT system and rubber tyred AGT system, and various experiments are executed.

  • There are operated the six thousand train in the interior of a country, $95\%$ of them are possible usage of resuscitation, Especially, Among them VVVF-Inverter vehicle has a merit of the highest recycle rate, but we don't use a apt recycled energy. Although the existing recycle energy used inverter method supply with electric power, it is decided in accordance with the state of sources. So efficiency of recycled electric power is of poor quality and catenary-voltage-fluctuation be generate because of recycled electric power. and it is able to affect system of safety train service. We'll research the method of supply according to wire condition after storing recycle energy made during train's stopping relation to Advanced EMU Research. Those methods are divided SMES, Fly-Wheel and Supercapacitor. and Considering the both economical efficiency and system application, we'll develop recycle energy storage system suitable our country condition.

  • In tread braking of freight cars, braking force is produced by the friction between the wheel and the braking shoe. Friction coefficients such as the brake power, weight variation and brake shoe types should be sensitively treated as the design parameters. The conditions of the car, empty and weighted, should also be taken into consideration in brake force design and the control of brake force has some limitations in terms of the brake system design so that the brake materials selection should be considered as important measures to solve that difficulties. Friction characteristics of brake materials should remain within the range of maximum and minimum value and the friction performance should remain stable regardless of braking time and temperature. This study presented an experimental evaluation method to secure optimum braking performance by keeping safe braking effect and braking distance by the friction coefficient of the brake shoe of the freight cars.

  • The topic on today is dynamic response analysis of curved bridge-AGT(Automated Guide-way Transit) vehicle interaction system. Rubber wheel type AGT vehicle is adopted in this study, and the vehicle is idealized as three dimensional eleven DOF model. Three types of composited steel box girder bridges are modelized with F.E. method. And three types of artificially generated surface roughnesses are adopted for analysis. The dynamic equations of curved bridge, AGT vehicle and surface roughness are derived by using Lagrange's equation of motion. And the equations are solved by Newmark-${\beta}$ method. As a result, The dynamic increasement factor is inverse proportional to radius curvature.

  • One dimensional collision analysis is often used to simulate a train-to-train coupling or collision accident. But there are various numerical modeling techniques utilized for dynamic models of rolling stocks such as a lumped-spring-mass model or a bar-mass model. In rolling stock industries, a lumped-spring-mass model is mainly applied without consideration of bogie attachments separately. In this case, a dynamic stiffness coefficient is introduced to compensate the overestimated car mass effects due to the linkage stiffness of bogies and seats. In this paper, the effects of dynamic stiffness coefficients and wheel-rail friction coefficients were studied by simulating a bar-mass model with bogie attachments separately.

  • The ballast or other objects may be located on the rail road by a lump of ice, repairing operation on the track, or the strong gust due to the high speed running of the train. When a train operated in this condition, it causes serious damages to the wheel, train, and structures near the track, or the secondary ballast flying. To remove these objects safely, a ballast blower is suggested which was attached under the train. Firstly, the numerical analyses are investigated to find out the basic flow characteristics of the ballast blower. Next, the performance of the ballast blower is verified by wind tunnel experiments. Through these studies, it is expected that the ballast blower can be applied practically.

  • The major objective of this study is to investigate the dynamic behaviors of track due to the deterioration characteristics of ballast for servicing tracks by the field test. The durability of ballast plays an important role in the track behaviour. To estimate the deterioration characteristics of ballast, several tests have been carried out by several scholars. The deterioration characteristics of ballast is one of the most important factor in the dynamic behaviour of track and its life. In this paper abrasion/breakage characteristics of ballast is studied to predict the effect of physical ballast characteristics on ballast track. To reveal deterioration characteristics of ballast, the field test were carried out. The deterioration characteristics, studied in this paper, is applied to the dynamic behaviour of track in various conditions.

  • A numerical analysis was performed to verify how much additional force is induced by short or long pitch rail corrugations in track. The rail corrugations assumed as sine wave having various pitches and depths. The variation of wheel force, displacement and acceleration of rail and sleeper was investigated. In the results, it was shown that each item of the investigation was increased as the pitches and depths become large. It is expected that the results of the parametric study can be used as a preliminary data for the determination of economical maintenance criteria for rail corrugation in the future

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate stability of a high speed train and to propose optimal design using sensitivity analysis of suspension design parameters. A form of equations of motion in tangent track and curve track is obtained based on each creep force. Tangent track and curve track equations include lateral, rolling and yawing motions of wheel sets, bogies, and carbodies. Three track cases have been chosen to stability assesment of a high speed train analysis. Sensitivity equations are set up by directly differentiating the equations of motion. This study def'.led Stability performance index of a high speed train in tangent track and curve track. The relative magnitude of the effect of suspension parameters on the critical speed is computed, and by adjusting these parameters, the increase of the critical speed is achieved.

  • This paper discusses the numerical study on the dynamics of the high-speed EMU by developing the 34 degrees-of-freedom (DOF) lumped parameter model including the effect of the creepage. In order to reflect the creepage, the Kalker's wheel-rail contact theory is introduced in the proposed model. The dynamic analysis using $Matlab^{(R)}$ software is conducted, and its results are compared with those from ADAMS/Rail to investigate the validity of the proposed 34-DOF lumped parameter model. It is demonstrated that the results from the numerical study are similar to those from ADAMS/Rail. In addition, the critical design parameters of high-speed EMU are examined, and the design guidelines for reducing vibration and enhancing ride quality are proposed.
