Development of the Driving Simulator of High Speed Train based on the Concurrent Engineering Design Environment (동시공학설계환경에서의 고속철도 주행시뮬레이터 개발)

  • The concurrent engineering technologies have been broadly used in the field of the design, testing, manufacturing and maintenance works to reduce development time and costs. For this purpose, many design environments with the product data management system, the virtual engineering system and web database system are developed. In this research, we developed the driving simulator of the KTX(Korea Train Express) as a basic study for building the concurrent engineering design environment of rolling stock. The virtual track was developed from the Seoul to the Busan and the Daejeon to Mockpo to generate immersible driving environment. Also. fault generation systems were developed to educate drivers of the KTX. We expect to reduce the time and costs of newly developed rolling stock using the design environment developed in the research.

  • CBTC(Communication Based Train Control) System has many superior train control performances than conventional track-circuit-based train control system with higher train operation efficiency, and less installation and maintenance cost. It is expected that CBTC will replace the conventional train control systems in near future. As CBTC has different mechanisms from conventional track-circuit-based train control systems in identifying train positions, and communicating information between train and ground facility, we have to pay a carful attention to making the interface between CBTC equipments and other signalling devices. This paper provides the construction of the interface between CBTC train-born equipment and other train control equipments including ATO, TCMS, brake controller, door controller.

  • CWR(Continuous Welded Rail) has many advantage over the conventional jointed rail track. The use of CWR track not only reduces the track maintenance cost, but increase the life cycle of track components. As the use of CWR increases in track structures, derailing disasters associating with track buckling also increase in great numbers due to high compressive thermal stress. Despite the importance, the number of studies relevant to the instability is quite limited. In this paper, It considers the contribution of rail-pad-fastener resistance, uplift of tie and nonlinear analysis. Influence of various track components on CWR track temperature and mode shape were characterized.

  • Where the track is continuously welded over a bridge, the longitudinal force is interacted between the track and the sub-structure. Due to this respect, the expansion joint is used to decrease this force. But the expansion joint has several problems related to passenger comfort and maintenance etc. In this study, it is analysed about how the stability of the track is affected as the span length becomes longer in case of 2-span continuos bridge. It is found that there is no problem of an stability unless the span length is longer than 90m when the elastic shoe is used. And several parametric studies were also implemented.

  • A curved track needs balanced super elevation according to the speed of the passing train and it is limited by maximum allowable amount. Therefore, passing speed at high degree curved track has to be controlled below the limits. Accurate position of the Speed Limit Post(SLP), which shows allowable speed of curved track dose not regulated so design and line side maintenance engineer adopt the position differently, When the rate of cant deficiency is considered on transition-curved section, the SLP should be located at the beginning point of the transition curve so as to control the speed of passing train and it will increase ride quality to passenger.

  • As one of countermeasures for vibration and noise source which come from train operation in subway system, the heavy-weighted tunnel structure and the low-vibration track design have been adopted. In recent the low-vibration concrete track have been constructed to enhance the maintenance effectiveness as well as the reduction of vibration. This paper is explaining and evaluating of the characteristics of vibration and its effects comparing to tile ballast track, concrete track, and full surface supported floating slab track installed on Express bus terminal in Seoul subway No. 7 line.

  • Now, Korea National Railroad is planning many ways to increase the maximum operating speed of train up to 200km/h by 2010. Among those ways, connecting conventional line with the KTX is the strongest alternative. Mostly, conventional lines are consisting of both KS50N and KS6O rail. However, the excessive abrasion might be occurred between wheel and rail when the KTX designed to operate on UIC60 is operating on the conventional line. On this study, new standard of 60kg-class rail considered suitability for both KTX and wheel used in conventional line is presented. It seems to be an effective solution for increasing maintenance costs expected when commercial speed of conventional line is increasing.

  • This study investigated and analysed the surface contaminant of the passenger car. Because the surface contaminants change the paint color of the passenger car, it is necessary to cleanse them for prolongating the maintenance period, Analysis method of the contaminant according to the kind of the passenger car, the line and the part of the train are systemized. Contamination mechanism and deterioration reason of paint colors on the surface of passenger car are studied. We expect that results of this study could contribute to providing of a fundamental research data, which is necessary for the development of a low-pollution passenger car cleanser.

  • In recent years. the destructive force acting on the ballasted track is on the increase with the speed-up of trains and the number of trains, requiring more labor and expenditure to maintain the track in goof condition. Slab track has been developed to decrease the track maintenance work on earthworks. One type of slab track Rheda has Prefabricated track grid, consisting of rails. Prestressed concrete sleepers and reinforcement rods are aligned into position. and then concrete is then placed to integrate the sleepers into a reinforced concrete track slab. In this paper, a new analysis model for the system analysis of the slab track is presented. Then the analysis results are compared with requirements for slab track.
