Headway Comparison between ATS and ERTMS/ETCS system

  • The present headway on KNR lines varies from 6 to 10 minutes. Therefore, KNR would like to reduce the headway of all the lines by 4 minutes with the implementation of ERTMS/ETCS on-board system. In Korea, thanks to the operation of the High Speed Line in 2004, the bottleneck phenomenon will occur only in a few sections such as Seoul-Siheung, which will be the common route between KTX and conventional trains. Therefore, we will analyze expected braking distance and running time depending on characteristics of conventional passenger and freight trains and high speed train will be operated within electrified conventional line for comparing the headways of ATS trackside and ETRMS/ETCS on-board system within the Seoul-Siheung section.

  • Railroad systems can be divided into the primary function for transporting passengers or freight and secondary function covering diverse environmental factors and interfaces. So, the most biggest and important reason and the goal of railroad systems is to satisfy the need for transportation based on the production and consumption of energy. Especially, the operation of safe systems is the inevitable element for achieving this objective. Performing this can be ultimately satisfied only when the relationship among operators, contractors, suppliers and assessors is established according to their missions. Therefore, we are trying to finding the way of approaching it systematically by reviewing which procedures and methodologies mission performers in various domains have to follow.

  • Of those off-road diesel engines, the railroad diesel rolling stocks (RDRS) for passenger and freight transportation become a growing issue since they are emitting enormous amounts of various air pollutants. Furthermore, up to the present time, emissions from these sources are not well controlled. One of main purposes in this study is to develop emission factors for the RDRS and to estimate a total amount of major air pollutants from the RDRS in Korea. Prior to develop a Korean mode emission factor, the emission factor from the USEPA was simply applied for comparative studies. As a conclusion, based on the emissions calculated from both the USEPA mode and the KoRail mode, the RDRS is considered as one of significant mobile sources of major air pollutants including NOx and CO, and thus management plans and control strategies for the RDRS must be established to improve air quality near. future in Korea.

  • 우리나라 도로의 화물수송 분담률(영업용, 톤 기준)은 1990년 63.8%에서 2006년 76.6%로 증가한 반면, 2006년 철도의 수송 분담률(영업용, 톤 기준)은 1990년 17.2%에서 6.3%로 크게 감소하였다. 이와 같이 전반적인 감소추세를 면치 못하고 있는 국내 철도화물운송증대를 도모하기 위해서는 철도화물수송 경쟁력 강화 방안이 필요하다. 도로에 대한 철도의 수송경쟁력이 강화된다는 것은 철도가 도로에 비해 선호 될 수 있는 유리한 조건을 갖추고 있는 것을 의미한다. 본 연구에서는 철도화물수송경쟁력의 강화방안을 모색하기 위한 전단계로 현재 국내 철도화물수송현황을 살펴 보기 위해 고속철도 개통이후 도로에 대한 철도의 화물수송 경쟁력의 정도를 측정하고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 SP조사 결과 일반적으로 화물 수단선택에 중요도가 높은 항목으로 선정된 수송비용, 수송시간, 서비스수준 등 3가지 평가항목을 설정하여 품목별(품목은 크게 컨테이너, 양회, 철강으로 설정함) 철도화물수송경쟁력지표를 개발하였다. 또한, 개발한 철도수송경쟁력지표를 통해 컨테이너, 양회, 철강을 중심으로 수송비용, 수송시간, 서비스수준 항목에서 최종적인 품목별 철도화물수송 경쟁력을 분석하였다. 즉, 수송비용, 수송시간, 서비스수준 항목에서 정량적 지표를 이용한 기종점별 철도화물수송경쟁력을 분석하고 주요 경쟁우위 품목(컨테이너, 양회, 철강)을 파악하고자 시도하였다.

  • Recently, the number of consumers using digital online distribution platforms is increasing. This caused the rapid growth of the e-commerce market and increased delivery volume in urban areas. The logistics system, designed ar006Fund the city center to handle the delivery volume, operates a delivery system from the outskirts of the city to the urban area using cargo trucks. This maintains an ecosystem of high-cost and inefficient structures that increase social costs such as road traffic congestion and environmental problems. To solve this problem, research is being conducted worldwide to establish a high-efficiency urban joint logistics system using urban railway facilities and underground space infrastructure existing in existing cities. The joint logistics system begins with linking unmanned delivery automation services that link terminal delivery such as cargo classification and stacking, infrastructure construction that performs cargo transfer function by separating from passengers such as using cargo platform. To this end, it is necessary to apply the device to the vertical and horizontal transportation machine supporting the vertical transfer in the flat space of the joint logistics terminal, which is the base technology for transporting cargo using the transfer robot to the destination designated as a freight-only urban railway vehicle. Therefore, this paper aims to derive holistic viewpoints needs for design requirements for vertical and vertical transportation machines and freight transportation standard containers, which are underground railway logistics transport devices to be constructed by urban logistics ecosystem changes.

열차 주행에 의한 지반진동의 계측 및 분석 (Measurement and Analysis of Ground Borne Vibrations Resulting from Railroad Operation)

  • 미국 테네시주 채펠 힐 북쪽 3.2km, 한 철로변에서 지반진동을 계측하였다. 6일동안 18회의 열차 주행중에 이 계측을 수행하였다. 이 연구의 목적은 열차나 다른 교통수단에 의한 SSC(Superconducting Super Collider) 설치 예상 깊이에서 지반 진동 크기를 분석 평가하는 데 있다. 이 지반 진동과 비교할 .기준치는 매우 엄밀히 설정된 간이다 . 즉, 주파수 3 Hz에서 0.0005인치(0.0127mm)이다. 이 계측 결과로는, 지하 100ft(30m)이하 암반에서, 열차 주행으로 부터 유발되는 진동 크기는 기껏 커도 기준치의 10분의 1 이하이다.

  • 물류공동화는 운송부분에서의 공동화로 시작되어 최근에는 배송과 보관 등 물류의 전 분야에서 도입되고 있으며, 물류공동화에 의한 효율성은 여러 형태로 입증되고 있어 많은 부분에서 물류공동화를 적극적으로 도입하고 있다. 그러나 현재 추진 또는 시행되고 있는 물류공동화는 도로를 중심으로 공동간선수송, 공동배송, 공동보관 등이 시행되고 있는 실정이다. 또한 국가주도의 물류단지에서의 공동화와 민간부분에서의 공동화가 활발히 시행되고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 환경 친화적인 수송수단으로 부각되고 있는 철도부분에서의 물류공동화 도입방안에 대하여 검토하였다. 기존 철도분야에서의 물류공동화 사례 분석 등을 시행하고, 향후 철도에서 물류공동화 도입이 가능한 분야들 중 간선수송에서의 공동화뿐만 아니라 철도역에서의 보관, 배송부문에서의 물류공동화 도입 방안 등에 대하여 검토를 시행하고 도입방안을 제시하였다.

  • In April 1, 2004, age of high-speed railway was opened to korea railroad. The railroad is a means of large transportation which has many talents such as a safety and a regularity. That is a results from various confidential performance tests and evaluations of the system. The railroad system consist of various subsystems - vehicle, power supply, signal, communications, track structures, operations, etc. Among them, as an item of safety evaluation there is a measurement of wheel/rail farce, so called a measurement of derailment coefficient. This is a very important item because a derailment of a train will bring about a big accident. Especially it is more important in high speed rail of which operation speed is over two times as fast as existing rail. In this paper, examined speed elevation possibility use the korean style high speed railway vehicle for reduce the running time of high-speed railway between high speed line and conventional line.

철도 물류 정보 표준화 방안 및 정보시스템 개선에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Railroad Logistics Information Standardization and Information System Improvement)

  • 현재 화차를 이용하여 화물을 운송하는 철도 물류는 국내 화물 물동량의 $10{\sim}20%$ 가량을 담당하고 있다. 철도물류 사용자인 운송사(화주 포함) 또는 내륙화물기지는 철도물류 업무를 처리하기 위해 EDI(XML)를 통해 문서를 전송하거나 WEB을 통해 데이터를 입력하고 있다. 그러나 점차 e-비즈니스 환경이 활성화됨에 따라 기존 철도물류 업무에 대한 개선이 요구되고 있다. 또한 확장성 있는 ebXML 기반의 스키마 형식의 사용이 확산되면서 DTD 구조의 전자문서를 XML 스키마 형태로 개선할 필요성도 제기되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 철도물류업무 개선을 위한 철도물류 정보 표준을 연구하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 기존 비즈니스 프로세스를 재정의 하여 불필요한 업무를 개선하고, 비즈니스 프로세스 모델링으로 철도 물류 액티비티를 정의해서 최종 정보 모델을 도출한다. 또한 도출된 정보 모델에 따라 새로운 전자문서를 설계할 수 있도록 비즈니스 정보 개체를 정의하였으며, 철도물류 정보시스템의 개선된 구조도 제안하고자 한다. 이를 통해 철도물류 비즈니스에 효율적이고 확장성 있는 업무 절차를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

Total reference-free displacements for condition assessment of timber railroad bridges using tilt

  • The US railroad network carries 40% of the nation's total freight. Railroad bridges are the most critical part of the network infrastructure and, therefore, must be properly maintained for the operational safety. Railroad managers inspect bridges by measuring displacements under train crossing events to assess their structural condition and prioritize bridge management and safety decisions accordingly. The displacement of a railroad bridge under train crossings is one parameter of interest to railroad bridge owners, as it quantifies a bridge's ability to perform safely and addresses its serviceability. Railroad bridges with poor track conditions will have amplified displacements under heavy loads due to impacts between the wheels and rail joints. Under these circumstances, vehicle-track-bridge interactions could cause excessive bridge displacements, and hence, unsafe train crossings. If displacements during train crossings could be measured objectively, owners could repair or replace less safe bridges first. However, data on bridge displacements is difficult to collect in the field as a fixed point of reference is required for measurement. Accelerations can be used to estimate dynamic displacements, but to date, the pseudo-static displacements cannot be measured using reference-free sensors. This study proposes a method to estimate total transverse displacements of a railroad bridge under live train loads using acceleration and tilt data at the top of the exterior pile bent of a standard timber trestle, where train derailment due to excessive lateral movement is the main concern. Researchers used real bridge transverse displacement data under train traffic from varying bridge serviceability levels. This study explores the design of a new bridge deck-pier experimental model that simulates the vibrations of railroad bridges under traffic using a shake table for the input of train crossing data collected from the field into a laboratory model of a standard timber railroad pile bent. Reference-free sensors measured both the inclination angle and accelerations of the pile cap. Various readings are used to estimate the total displacements of the bridge using data filtering. The estimated displacements are then compared to the true responses of the model measured with displacement sensors. An average peak error of 10% and a root mean square error average of 5% resulted, concluding that this method can cost-effectively measure the total displacement of railroad bridges without a fixed reference.
