Radio waves must pass through the unstable atmosphere for successful wireless data transmission from space to ground stations. Data link algorithms required by the International Space Data Systems Advisory Committee (CCSDS) must be capable of detecting and resynchronizing cryptographic and receiver-side errors. However, error recovery is not part of the CCSDS requirements. This paper proposes an algorithm that enables robustness and error recovery against various noises. We experimented with environments such as Gaussian, Salt, Pepper, and S&P noise through noise reduction filters, filters that improve sharpness, and EDSR. In addition, we compare similar algorithms SES Alarmed and DSES Alarmed.
We introduce and describe performance of the 6-meter telescope of Seoul Radio Astronomy Observatory (SRAO). All the softwares and instruments except the antenna structure and its driving system are developed for ourselves. The SIS mixer type receiver resulted in the receiver noise temperature less than 50 K (DSB) over the whole 3-mm radio window. An autocorrelation spectrometer, developed first in Korea, provides maximum 50 MHz band width over 1024 channels. Antenna surface is measured and adjusted using template method and radio holography which resulted in a superb surface accuracy bet-ter than 30${\mu}m$. Accordingly, the aperture and beam efficiences amount to $70\%$ and $75\%$, respectively, largely independent of frequency in the 85 - 115 GHz range. It is also found that telescope pointing errors are less than 10" in both azimuth and elevation and that antenna gain is almost constant against elevation greater than $20^{\circ}$, without adjusting sub-reflector position. The SRAO 6-meter telescope is now fully operational and all these characteristics verify that observations are carried out with high precision and fidelity.
We have carried out measurements of 1.2-1.6GHz radio interferences around Seoul Radio Astronomy Observatory located in the campus of Seoul National University. We received interference signals using a pyramidal horn antenna and measured its power using a spectrum analyzer with 1MHz resolution after $\~60dB$ amplification. In order to check the spatial characteristics, we made observations at every $30^{\circ}$ in azimuth at elevation of $30^{\circ}\;and\;60^{\circ}$. Also, in order to check the temporal characteristics, we repeated the all-sky observations five times at every six hours. The results may be summarized as follows: (1) There are strong $({\geq}-20dBm)$ interferences between 1.2 and 1.4GHz. Particularly strong interferences are observed at 1.271 and 1.281GHz, which have maximum powers of -0.34dBm and -0.56dBm, respectively. (2) The characteristics of the interferences do not depend strongly on directions, although the interferences are in general weak at high elevation and in east-west direction. (3) The interferences appear for a very short $(\leq0.01s)$ period of time, so that the average power is much smaller than the maximum power. Strong interferences with large $(\leq-49.0dBm)$ average power have been observed at 1.271, 1.281, 1.339, and 1.576GHz. At these frequencies, the interferences appear repeatedly with a period of $\leq0.1s$ By analyzing the observed power, we find that, for the strongest 1.271GHz interference, the average intensity is $-171dBW/m^2/Hz$ and that the maximum intensity is $-122dBW/m^2/Hz$. If this interference is delivered to the detector without any shielding, then its power would be much greater than the rms noise of a typical line spectrum. Therefore, it is important to shield all the parts of receiver carefully from radio interferences. Also, without appropriate shielding, the sensitivity of a receiver could be limited by the interference.

In this paper, authors have been evaluated the Frame Error Rate (FER) performance of IEEE 802.11 a/g/p standard 5 GHz frequency band WLAN over Rayleigh and Rician distributed fading channels in presence of Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN). Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based transceiver is implemented by using real-time signal processing frameworks (IEEE 802.11 Blocks) in GNU Radio Companion (GRC) and Ettus USRP N200 is used to process the symbol over the wireless radio channel. The FER is calculated for each sub-carrier conventional modulation schemes used by OFDM such as BPSK, QPSK, 16, 64-QAM with different punctuated coding rates. More precise SNR is computed by modifying the SNR calculation process of YANS and NIST error rate model to estimate more accurate FER. Here, real-time signal constellations, OFDM signal spectrums etc. are also observed to find the effect of multipath propagation of signals through flat and frequency selective fading channels. To reduce the error rate due to the multipath fading effect and Doppler shifting, channel estimation (CE) and equalization techniques such as Least Square (LS) and training based adaptive Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm are applied in the receiver. The simulation work is practically verified at GRC by turning into a pair of Software Define Radio (SDR) as a simultaneous transceiver.

In this paper, a K-band oscillator which is composed of a hair-pin resonator, a GaAs MESFET, and a frequency doubler, is suggested, implemented by HMIC(Hybrid Microwave Integrated Circuits) form, and characterized for its microwave performance. A $\lambda_g$/4 open stub is used in frequency doubler to suppress the fundamental frequency of 9 GHz which is the output of the hair-pin resonator oscillator and output matching network is optimized for its second harmonic freuency of 18 HGz. For the oscillator, the output power of -0.83 dBm, the fundamental frequency suppression of -23 dBc, and phase noise of -86 dBc/Hz at 18.20 GHz are obtained.

Cognitive radio has been proposed as a promising dynamic spectrum allocation paradigm. In cognitive radio, spectrum sensing is a fundamental procedure that enables secondary users (unlicensed) employing unused portion of spectrum of primary users (licensed) without causing harmful interference. However, the performance of single-user spectrum-sensing scheme was limited by fading, noise uncertainty shadowing and hidden node problem. Cooperative spectrum sensing was proposed to mitigate these problem. In this paper, we observe cooperative sensing scheme with energy detection using three adaptive thresholds for local decision, which can mitigate sensing failure problem and improve sensing performance at local node. In cooperative scheme we employed OR rules as decision combining at fusion center. We evaluate our scheme through computer simulation, and the results show that with OR combination rule our scheme can achieve best performance than other schemes.

It has been investigated that the elect of an wideband FDM-FM signal upon an M-ary coherent PSK (MCPSK) signal in an intersystem radio interference environment between analog and digital systems, which had not been discussed before and had been obscure. It is assumed that PSK and FM signal are adjacently allocated in same radio frequency band. And the symbol error performance of MCPSK signal with co-channel and adjacent channel interference from an FDM-FM signal is evaluated with considering the receiver noise. The numerical results for the theoretical symbol error rates of MCPSK system in the presence of Gaussian noise and co-channel or adjacent channel interference are given in graphical forms as the function of carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR), carrier-to-interference ratio (CIR) and normalized carrier separation between the desired PSK and interfering FM signal. The objective of this research is to find some optimal conditions for coexistence of analog and digital systems in an intersystem interference environment. The results we obtained here stress a possible utilization of them for designing the frequency allocation, bandwidth and power of PSK channel in the intersystem interference from an FDM-FM signall.

A low-power, low-noise, highly-linear hybrid balun circuit is proposed for 2.4-GHz fully differential CMOS direct conversion receivers. The hybrid balun is composed of a passive transformer and loss-compensating auxiliary amplifiers. Design issues regarding the optimal signal splitting and coupling between the transformer and compensating amplifiers are discussed. Implemented in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process, the 2.4 GHz hybrid balun achieves 2.8 dB higher gain and 1.9 dB lower noise figure than its passive counterpart and +23 dBm of IIP3 only at a current consumption of 0.67 mA from 1.2 V supply. It is also examined that the hybrid balun can remarkably lower the total noise figure of a 2.4 GHz fully differential RF receiver only at a cost of 0.82 mW additional power dissipation.

This paper presents a novel gain control system composed of a feedback circuit, Two stage Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) using 0.18 um CMOS technology for 5.2 GHz. The feedback circuit consists of the seven function blocks: peak detector, comparator, ADC, IVE(Initial Voltage Elimination) circuit, switch, storage, and current controller. We focus on detecting signal and designing storage circuit that store the previous state. The power consumption of the feedback circuit in the system can be reduced without sacrificing the gain by inserting the storage circuit. The adaptive front-end system with the feedback circuit exhibits 11.39~22.74 dB gain, and has excellent noise performance at high gain mode. Variable gain LNA consumes 5.68~6.75 mW from a 1.8 V supply voltage.
Transmitting correct train control information is important in a train control system which demands safety. The train control information includes the maximum speed of trains, position of preceding trains, incline of tracks and curve sections etc. A radio frequency-communication based train control system is influenced by the noise and interference because the train control information is transmitted by wireless between a on-board system and wayside system. The radio frequency-communication based train control system is a mobile communication system due to moving trains. The inter symbol interference(ISI) occurs by the multipath fading in the mobile ommunication system. As signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) is decreased by the ISI, the train control information is not received correctly. In case of tunnel section, numerous reflected waves exist. Therefore, the power density of receiver is decreased by difference among the received times, magnitudes, phases through the multipath. So, the train suddenly is stopped by the fail-safe operation in the train control system on account of decreasing the power density of receiver. In this paper, a line of sight model-(Additive White Gaussian noise(AWGN) channel), rayleigh and rician fading model are presented. Probability density functions which are related to the SNR are derived from the models. The fading phenomenon severely occurs as a result of analyzing the probability density functions. So, the space diversity method is used in order to reduce the fading effect and it is demonstrated by using Matlab program.
