  • This paper investigates the power allocation and outage performance of MIMO full-duplex relaying (MFDR), based on orthogonal space-time block codes (OSTBC), in cognitive radio systems. OSTBC transmission is used as a simple means to achieve multi-antenna diversity gain. Cognitive MFDR systems not only have the advantage of increasing spectral efficiency through spectrum sharing, but they can also extend coverage through the use of relays. In cognitive MFDR systems, the primary user experiences interference from the secondary source and relay simultaneously, owing to full duplexing. It is therefore necessary to optimize the transmission powers at the secondary source and relay. In this paper, we propose an optimal power allocation (OPA) scheme based on minimizing the outage probability in cognitive MFDR systems. We also analyse the outage probability of the secondary user in noise-limited and interference-limited environments in Nakagami-m fading channels. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes achieve performance improvements in terms of reducing outage probability.

  • The performance of a cognitive radio system with cooperative diversity which includes the direct and indirect path is analysed. The selection relay cooperation which selects the best relay, the relay with the best received signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) in destination node, is considered and derived the performance degradation caused by the CSI(Channel State Information) delay analytically. Numerical examples show that the cooperative diversity which have the direct and the indirect paths effectively improves the system performance in Rayleigh fading; the performance improves 4.4 dB with 1/10 of SNR of the indirect path. And the system performance is more degraded with the less frequency acquisition probability and with the high CSI delay.

  • Spectrum reuse has attracted much concern of researchers and scientists, however, the dynamic spectrum access is challenging, since an individual secondary user usually just has limited sensing abilities. One key insight is that spectrum usage forecasting among secondary users, this inspiration enables users to obtain more informed spectrum opportunities. Therefore, spectrum usage forecasting is vital to cognitive radio networks (CRNs). With this insight, a spectrum usage forecasting model for the occurrence of primary users prediction is derived in this paper. The proposed model is based on auto regressive enhanced primary user emergence reasoning (AR-PUER), which combines linear prediction and primary user emergence reasoning. Historical samples are selected to train the spectrum usage forecasting model in order to capture the current distinction pattern of primary users. The proposed scheme does not require the knowledge of signal or of noise power. To verify the performance of proposed spectrum usage forecasting model, we apply it to the data during the past two months, and then compare it with some other sensing techniques. The simulation results demonstrate that the spectrum usage forecasting model is effective and generates the most accurate prediction of primary users occasion in several cases.

  • In cognitive radio networks, when the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the link between a primary transmitter and receiver is sufficiently high, the primary transmission does not frequently demand cooperation because direct transmission of the primary communication is usually successful. Therefore, there are few opportunities for a secondary transmitter to cooperate with the primary user system in exchange for an opportunity to share the spectrum. This article proposes a scheme in which the secondary system can deliberately degrade the SNR of the primary transmission, making it so that the primary system needs cooperation from the secondary nodes, and thereby increases opportunities for spectrum sharing.

  • The adaptive resource optimization problem in multi-input multi-output orthogonal frequency division multiple access (MIMO-OFDMA) systems is addressed. This paper, adaptive modulation and coding(AMC) and power control algorithms is proposed with SFC(Space-Frequency Coding), which aims to maximize the system capacity based on the CQI(Channel Quality Information). Firstly, power level is decided to each sub-channels with received feedback signal to noise ratio(SNR). In the second step, sub-carriers are allocated according to modulation type. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves a better performance than conventional algorithm in terms of capacity.

  • In this paper, we presented a signal model of STAP and actual environment of clutter. The novel estimation method of clutter covariance matrix using median value is proposed to overcome serious performance degradation after NHD in nonhomogeneous clutter. Eigen value characteristic is improved through diagonal loading. Target detection ability and SINR loss of the proposed method though MSMI statistic is also compared with conventional method using average value. The simulation results, confirm the proposed method has better performance than others.

  • CISPR(Committee Internationale Special des Perturbations Radio Electriques) has proposed limits on the noises emitting from power lines and signal lines. But different measurement environment and different measurement methods are used in different countries. This difference causes much confusion in understanding the results measured by different test laboratories. In this paper, we measure EMI noise using the absorbing clamp method that takes short measurement time and is described in CISPR 13, 14-1, 16-2. We analyze the cause of the difference of measurement results.

  • The pulsed amplifier which switches the main supply voltage of RF amplifier according to input pulse signal has good efficiency and low noise level between pulses. And it has simple structure because it doesn't need a pulse modulator at input port. The pulsed amplifier using the conventional switching circuit has slow fall time compared to rise time. We proposed the novel switching circuit for improving the fall time of pulsed amplifier The proposed switching circuit is implemented by replacing FET of conventional circuit with BJT. As a result of appling this circuit to RF pulsed amplifier, the rise and fall time are 5.7 ns and 21.9 ns at 27 dBm output power, respectively.

  • In this paper, we derive the theoretical Symbol Error Probability (SEP) of cooperative systems with best relay selection for Nakagami-m fading channels. For Amplify and Forward (AF) relaying, the selected relay offers the best instantaneous Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) of the relaying link (source-relay-destination). In cooperative networks using Decode and Forward (DF), the selected relay offers the best instantaneous SNR of the link between the relay and the destination among the relays that have correctly decoded the transmitted information by the source. In the second part of the paper, we derive the SEP when all participating AF and DF relaying is performed. In the last part of the paper, we extend our results to cognitive radio networks where there is interference constraints : only relays that generate interference to primary receiver lower than a predefined threshold T can transmit. Both AF and DF relaying with and without relay selection are considered.

  • Spectrum sensing (SS) is one of the fundamental tasks for cognitive radio. In SS, decisions can be made via comparing the test statistics with a threshold. Conventional adaptive algorithms for SS usually adjust their thresholds according to the radio environment. This paper concentrates on the issue of adaptive SS whose threshold is adjusted based on the Markovian behavior of primary user (PU). Moreover, Bayesian cost is adopted as the performance metric to achieve a trade-off between false alarm and missed detection probabilities. Two novel adaptive algorithms, including Markov Bayesian energy detection (MBED) algorithm and IMBED (improved MBED) algorithm, are proposed. Both algorithms model the behavior of PU as a two-state Markov process, with which their thresholds are adaptively adjusted according to the detection results at previous slots. Compared with the existing Bayesian energy detection (BED) algorithm, MBED algorithm can achieve lower Bayesian cost, especially in high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime. Furthermore, it has the advantage of low computational complexity. IMBED algorithm is proposed to alleviate the side effects of detection errors at previous slots. It can reduce Bayesian cost more significantly and in a wider SNR region. Simulation results are provided to illustrate the effectiveness and efficiencies of both algorithms.
