Prelaunch thermal analysis of the KSLV (Korea Space Launch Vehicle)-I PLF (Payload Fairing) was performed to predict maximum/minimum liftoff temperatures and to evaluate of air conditioning performance. Prelaunch thermal analysis includes internal air conditioning effect, external convective heating/cooling, radiation exchange with the ground and sky, radiation between spacecraft and PLF, and solar radiation incident on PLF. Analysis was performed at two extreme conditions, hot day condition and cold day condition. The results showed that the maximum liftoff temperature was $53^{\circ}C$ and the minimum liftoff temperature was $-3.8^{\circ}C$. It was also found that conditioned air supplying, in $20{\pm}2^{\circ}C\;and\;1200\;m^3/hr$, is sufficient to keep the internal air in required temperature range.

The cooling problem of the hot internal pipe flow has been investigated. Simultaneous conduction, convection, and radiation were considered with azimuthally varying convective heat loss at the pipe wall. A complex, nonlinear integro-differential radiative transfer equation was solved by the discrete ordinates method (or called S$_{N}$ method). The energy equation was solved by control volume based finite difference technique. A parametric study was performed by varying the conduction-to-radiation parameter, optical thickness, and scattering albedo. The results have shown that initially the radiatively active medium could be more efficiently cooled down compared with the cases otherwise. But even for the case with dominant radiation, as the medium temperature was lowered, the contribution of conduction became to exceed that of radiation.n.

Electronic components in an enclosure have been investigated to prevent undesired thermal problems. The electronic devices, such as ECUs of automotive engines, are operated under the contaminated environments, so that they rely on the passive cooling without any fluid-driving methods. Therefore the radiation heat dissipation plays more important role than the conduction and convection heat transfer. Hence their combined heat dissipation phenomena have been simulated by a numerical model to reveal the effects of supplied heat flux, emissivity of material, geometry of enclosure, charging gas and pressure. The result showed that the radiation had a significant effect on the heat dissipation of module in an enclosure, and some space above the module should be reserved to prevent its thermal problem. In addition, the higher thermal conductivity and pressure of gas in an enclosure could be necessary to improve the thermal dissipation from the electronic devices.

Large areas must be rapidly screened to monitor radiation in marine environments. For this purpose, this study developed a mobile real-time gamma-ray measurement system for shipboard use and evaluated its performance. The system was developed to measure engine or generator cooling water by installing a canister inside the ship. The minimum detectable activity of the system is about 0.8 Bq/L for a 60 s measurement period, and real-time data transmission and remote control are possible. The system was tested in the field and is currently being installed and operated on ships in service. Such a ship-based real-time gamma-radiation measurement system is suitable for a wide range of marine radiation surveillance applications and is expected to be rapidly deployed.
The application of photovoltaics into building as integrated building components has been paid more attention worldwide. Photovoltaics or solar electric modules are solid state devices, directly converting solar radiation into electricity; the process does not require fuel and any moving parts, and produce no pollutants. And the prefab building method is very effective because the pre- manufactured building components is simply assembled to making up buildings in the construction fields especially the sandwich panel. So, the purpose of this research is to integrated prefab building materials depending on the cooling type of PV modules. It is concluded that the prediction of BIPV system's performance should be based on the more accurate PV module temperature. From the basis of these results on the correlation of temperature and irradiation were obtained.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the effects of air and ceiling temperatures on a type of ceiling cooling system that involves cool water circulation. The experiment is conducted in summer. The subjects (11 young females) are exposed to the following conditions: combinations of air temperatures $(27^{\circ}C,\;29^{\circ}C,\;31^{\circ}C)$ and ceiling temperature of $(22.7^{\circ}C,\;23.7^{\circ}C,\;24.7^{\circ}C)$ in still air and RH 50%. The following results were obtained; the thermal sensation vote is neutral at a mean skin temperature of $34.5^{\circ}C$. The ceiling temperature affected different parts of the body. For example, the forehead, scapula and abdomen produced different skin temperatures. Thermal comfort vote was rated as comfortable at high temperature environment. The satisfaction from the ceiling temperature was valued comfortable zone in this experiment. Mean skin temperature showing higher thermal neutrality temperature than existing studies for floor and wall radiation cooling results.

The cryogenic cooling load from the top plate of cryostat to liquid helium surface, including wall conduction, thermal radiation and current leads, is investigated in a closed cryostat system for superconducting magnet. In general methods of load estimation, individual load is calculated separately, however they are actually coupled each other because of natural convection of helium vapor. Using relevant heat transfer analysis, we calculate cryogenic load with taking into account the effect of natural convection. Cryogenic load is under-estimated approximately 1% when the natural convection is ignored. The difference between actual cooling load and cooling load by individual calculation increases with supplying current.

In order to reduce the energy consumption of the building, much effort is being made. The problems are that excessive solar radiation in summer and the heat loss in winter by the increase of window area. To prevent this problems, government limited the window area ratio or the performance of windows in new buildings. In order to reduce energy consumption of the existing buildings, the window film insulation is spotlight because the window film insulation was simple to installation. This study confirmed the performance of the window film insulation and affect to heating & cooling load of buildings. The impact of the window film insulation coating was confirmed by experiment. And this study confirmed the annual heating & cooling load by simulation. As a results, the surface temperature of coated window was higher than the surface temperature of existing window. The window film insulation was increased surface temperature of window. And this study confirmed that the increased surface temperature was slightly affected the room air temperature through experiment of the insulation box. The results of the heating and cooling load by simulation, this study confirmed that the case of coated window film insulation decreased cooling load in summer and increased heating load in winter. Also the annual total heating & cooling load was increased a little in the case of coated the window film insulation.
Urban Heat Island (UHI) is caused by an energy imbalance in urban areas, where building design and land cover contribute to its amplification. To mitigate UHI, increasing green space is one of the well known and the most effective approach. This study aims aimed to identify specific components of green spaces that lower temperatures and demonstrate the cooling effects based on their size and composition. Forests within green spaces have had a greater impact on temperature reduction due to shading and blocking solar radiation. Although lakes also contributed to temperature reduction, the effect to cooling intensity was not significant. The cooling distance does not depended on green space size or composition. The study emphasizes that initial temperature has a strongerinfluence on cooling intensity than green space size, highlighting the importance of vegetation type within green spaces to achieve a cooling effect. These findings provide valuable insights for urban planning and the design of green spaces to mitigate the effects of the urban heat island.
