Background: Color texture analysis was applied as a tool for quantitative evaluation of radiation-induced skin injuries. Materials and Methods: We prospectively selected 20 breast cancer patients who underwent whole-breast radiotherapy after breast-conserving surgery. Color images of skin surfaces for irradiated breasts were obtained by using a mobile skin analyzer. The first skin measurement was performed before the first fraction of radiotherapy, and the subsequent measurement was conducted approximately 10 days after the completion of the entire series of radiotherapy sessions. For comparison, color images of the skin surface for the unirradiated breasts were measured similarly. For each color image, six co-occurrence matrices (red-green [RG], red-blue [RB], and green-blue [GB] from color channels, red [R], green [G], blue [B] from gray channels) can be generated. Four textural features (contrast, correlation, energy, and homogeneity) were calculated for each co-occurrence matrix. Finally, several statistical analyses were used to investigate the performance of the color textural parameters to objectively evaluate the radiation-induced skin damage. Results and Discussion: For the R channel from the gray channel, the differences in the values between the irradiated and unirradiated skin were larger than those of the G and B channels. In addition, for the RG and RB channels, where R was considered in the color channel, the differences were larger than those in the GB channel. When comparing the relative values between gray and color channels, the 'contrast' values for the RG and RB channels were approximately two times greater than those for the R channel for irradiated skin. In contrast, there were no noticeable differences for unirradiated skin. Conclusion: The utilization of color texture analysis has shown promising results in evaluating the severity of skin damage caused by radiation. All textural parameters of the RG and RB co-occurrence matrices could be potential indicators of the extent of skin damage caused by radiation.
RI-Biomics is the new radiation fusion technology of which, such as the characteristics of radioisotope, is applied to the biomics. In order to sharing and overall analysis of data between the institutions through total management of information in the field of RI-Biomics, RI-Biomics Information portal 'RIBio-Info' was constructed by KARA (Korean Association for Radiation Application) in February 2015. For systematic operation of this 'RIBio-Info' system, it is required to develop system of collection-analysis-application of information. So, in this paper, we summarized development of document forms at each processes of collection-analysis-application of information and systematization of collection methods of information, establishment of characteristically analysis methods of reports such as issue paper, policy report, global market report and watch report. Therefore, these are expected to improving the practical applicability in this field through the vitalization of technology development of users by achieving the circular structure of collectionanalysis-application of information.
The objective of this study was to compare and analyze of radiation environment between downtown and suburban area by observation of short, diffuse and long-wave radiation during summer season. The followings are main results from this study. 1) The trends of long-wave radiation is increasing from May to August and the variation of daily range is decreased. It is confirmed that the temperature was closely relevant to long wave radiation. 2) During observation period, suburban area is higher than downtown the value of direct solar radiation. 3) There are much direct solar radiation in suburban area than downtown. But, it was measured much more horizontal solar radiation at the downtown area. From the this result, we can conclude that diffuse radiation play a important role at horizontal solar radiation.
Daily net radiation is essential for heat budget analysis for environmental impact assessment in the coastal zone and longwave radiation is an important element of net radiation because there is a significant exchange of radiant energy between the earth's surface and the atmosphere in the form of radiation at longer wavelengths. However, radiation data is not commonly available, and there has been no direct measurement for most areas where coastal environmental impact assessment is usually most needed. Often an empirical equation, e.g., Penman and FAO-24 formulae is used to estimate longwave radiation using temperature, humidity, and sunshine hour data but local calibration may be needed. In this study, local recalibration was performed to have best fit from a widely used longwave equation using the measured longwave radiation data in Korea Global Atmospheric Watch Center (KGAWC). The results shows recalibration can provided better performance AE=0.23($W/m^2$) and RMSE=14.73($W/m^2$). This study will contribute to improve the accuracy of the heat budget analysis in the coastal area.
The purpose of this study is to understand the characteristics of urban climate in several cities, from observing radiation according to wavelength band(UV, short and long wave radiation). Observation start from 5 May to 31 August 2013. The followings are the main results from this study. 1) In every observation area, greater amounts of short-wave radiation have been recorded in May compared to June. Even though the highest solar elevation occurs in June, May sees clearer days, which has attributed to the outcome. 2) The analysis concerning the correlation between ultraviolet radiation and shortwave radiation have revealed that regions closer to the Daegu area have stronger correspondence. 3) The time series of daily long-wave radiation shares a similar tendency with the time series of air temperature, and the maximum value was recorded at 14:00 and 15:00.

To evaluate the radiation degradation of ethylene propylene rubber (EPR), radiation effects on EPR were investigated by using dielectric analysis and thermal-gravimetric analysis. Permittivity, loss factor, tan$\delta$, and thermal decomposition temperature were observed for ${\gamma}$-ray irradiated EPR. As the radiation dose was increased, the peak temperature of the loss factor and tans of EPR were increased and loss factor and tan$\delta$ at peak temperature were decreased. Activation energies were calculated using loss factor and thermal decomposition for ${\gamma}$-ray irradiated EPR as well. The trends of both calculated activation energies showed the same tendencies as radiation dose was increased.

This study was to conducted on the general public living in the Busan area to determine their knowledge and awareness of radiation. A questionnaire written in Google Form was distributed, and 193 questionnaires were analyzed. Independent samples t-test and one-way ANOVA were conducted to verify differences in variables according to the characteristics of the study subjects. Correlation analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between variables. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to confirm the correlation between variables. As a result of the study, firstly, The knowledge and awareness of radiation and confidence level of radiological information were found to be high among men and unmarried group. Second, as a result of analysis according to occupation, it was found that students had a positive perception of radiation. Third, the Internet and TV are the most commonly used channels for obtaining information about radiation. Lastly, the thing that has the greatest impact on the awareness of radiation is the reliability of the obtained radiation information. In order to relieve excessive anxiety about radiation and to gain a proper understanding of radiation, the reliability of information about radiation is important. Therefore, it is believed that active efforts are needed to provide accurate information about radiation by utilizing media that are widely used by citizens.

The purpose of this study was to verify the possibility of fuel rod pattern analysis in a fresh fuel assembly using the Yonsei single-photon emission computed tomography (YSECT) system. The YSECT system consisted of three main parts: four trapezoidal-shaped bismuth germanate scintillator-based 64-channel detectors, a semiconductor-based multi-channel data acquisition system, and a rotary stage. In order to assess the performance of the prototype YSECT, tomographic images were obtained for three representative fuel rod patterns in the 6 × 6 array using two representative image-reconstruction algorithms. The fuel-rod patterns were then assessed using an in-house fuel rod pattern analysis algorithm. In the experimental results, the single-directional projection images for those three fuel-rod patterns well discriminated each fuel-rod location, showing a Gaussian-peak-shaped projection for a single 10 mm-diameter fuel rod with 12.1 mm full-width at half maximum. Finally, we successfully verified the possibility of the fuel rod pattern analysis for all three patterns of fresh fuel rods with the tomographic images obtained by the rotational YSECT system.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that demographic factors, radiation knowledge level, and radiation awareness could be affecting the benefits of radiation. From July 2022 to July 2023, after receiving consent to participate by using the link of Naver through Social Network Service (SNS) for the general public, 312 people were surveyed by self-registration method without collecting personal information. The questionnaire consisted of a total of 25 questions following demographic factors (5 questions including age group by life cycle, sex, monthly household income, residence), radiation knowledge level (8 questions including basic physical, biological effects, radiation protection technology), radiation awareness (12 questions including risk, management, benefit). Independent sample T-test and ANOVA tests were performed for significant differences in the average radiation awareness between variables, and hierarchical regression was performed to identify influencing factors on radiation benefits. As a result, the benefit of radiation was significantly high among the radiation awareness, but the awareness of the danger of radiation was insufficient to the level of recognizing it as safe. Men had significantly higher awareness of radiation management and benefits than women, and the awareness of radiation management was significantly higher in the middle class with a monthly household income of 4.31 million won or more. The higher the knowledge level of radiation, the higher the awareness of the benefits of radiation. The factors that had a positive effect on radiation benefits were the high level of radiation knowledge and awareness of radiation management.
