  • This study proposes a classification and compensation algorithm of two non-ideal output signals of a resolver to reduce position errors. Practically, a resolver generates position errors because of amplitude imbalance and quadrature imperfection between the two output signals of the resolver. In this study, a digital signal processor system based on a resolver-to-digital converter is used to reconstruct the two output signals of the resolver. The two output signals, "sin" and "cos," can be represented by a unit circle on the xy-plot. The classification and compensation of the errors can be obtained by using the radius and area of the circle made by the resolver signals. The method computes the integration of the areas made by the two resolver output signals to classify and compensate the error. This system cannot be applied during transient response given that the area integration during the transient state causes an error in the proposed method. The proposed method does not need any additional hardware. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • Reliability evaluation of power distribution system is very important to both power utilities and customers. It present the probabilistic number and duration of interruption such as failure rate, SATDI, SAIFI, and CAIDI. However, it has a fatal weakness at reliability index because of accuracy of failure rate. In this paper, the Time-varying Failure Rate(TFR) of power distribution system equipment is extracted from the recorded failure data of KEPCO(Korea Electric Power Corporation) in Korea. For TFR extraction, it is used that the fault data accumulated by KEPCO during 10 years. The TFR is approximated to bathtub curve using the exponential(random failure) and Weibull(aging failure) distribution function. In addition, Kaplan-Meier estimation is applied to TFR extraction because of incomplete failure data of KEPCO. Finally, Probability plot and regression analysis is applied. It is presented that the extracted TFR is more effective and useful than Mean Failure Rate(MfR) through the comparison between TFR and MFR

  • In vitro and in vivo effectiveness of fungicides were evaluated for the control of damping off caused by Rhizoctonia solani on Panax ginseng. Fludioxonil(67 mg a. i./L), flutolanil(75 mg a. i./L), thifluzamide(35 mg a. i./L), and mepronil (750 mg a. i./L) were selected from 9 fungicides, which were based on inhibition of mycelial growth of R. solani (isolate Rh 9801) and duration of fungicidal effectiveness against the pathogen in vitro. Field trials were made twice in the year of 2003 and 2004. Experimental plots $(54m{\times}0.9m)$ of 4-year-old ginseng fields were artificially infested with 5kg and 14 kg in fresh weight of inoculum in 2003 and 2004, respectively. The fungicides were drenched at a volume of 8l in $3.6m{\times}0.9m$ with 3 replications. Fludioxonil, flutolanil, thifluzamide and mepronil reduced the incidence of damping off by $73\%,\;69\%,\;69\%\;and\;43\%$, respectively. In the 2004 trial, fludioxonil, flutolanil, and thifluzamide showed similar result as reducing the incidence by $85\%,\;84\%,\;and\;82\%$, respectively, in the plot where the inoculum was applied 2.8 times more than the 2003. The disease incidences in untreated control were $12\%$ in 2003 and $47\%$ in 2004.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of empowerment in nurses through a systematic literature review and meta-analysis. 23 studies were collected through a systematic process of using several databases such as NDSL, DBPIA, and KISS. Keywords included 'nurse', 'empowerment', and 'correlation' and the reviewed articles were published from 2002 to 2017. In order to estimate the effect size of correlation between empowerment, 3 variables (job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and nursing performance) were considered. Using the R program, meta-analysis was calculated by using random effects model, and effect sizes on three types were estimated. As the result, it was found, first, the effect size of correlation between job satisfaction and empowerment is .50. Second, the effect size of correlation between organizational commitment and empowerment is .45. Third, for the nursing performance and empowerment relationship, the effect of correlation is 0.50. Also, Egger's regression test, fail-safe N, trim-and-fill test, and funnel plot were showed to evaluate the results. These results highlights the need for appropriate policies of the relationship between empowerment and job satisfaction, organizational commitment and nursing performance in nurses.

  • This paper presents a system that measures the acceleration of the shock caused by the explosion of the precursor warhead for the tandem projectile. The proposed system, which is implemented based on the MIL-STD-810G, Method 517.1, consists of a miniaturized shock measurement device, a cable, accelerometers, and a trigger circuit. The shock measurement device has a size of ¢102 × 171 mm and cable has a length of 3 m. The operational confirmation test is conducted by implementing the measurement system. The Analysis of shock data(accelerometer output data) is carried out using Shock Response Spectrum(SRS), pseudo velocity and plot of acceleration time transient. Through measurement analysis, one can predict the damage of electronics in projectile when precursor warhead is exploded.

  • The activated carbon materials were prepared from waste biomass by ultrasonic assisted chemical activation method (UCA), ultrasonic assisted physical activation method (UPA) and Manganese nitrogen doped carbon (Mn/N-C). The XRD result shows the turbostatic (fully disordered) structure. The cyclic voltammetry test was done at 50 mV/s using 1M sodium sulfate and the values of specific capacitance were found to be 93, 100 and 115 F/g for UCA, UPA and Mn/N-C respectively. The power density values for the samples UCA, UPA and Mn/N-C were found to be 46.04, 87.97 and 131.42 W/kg respectively. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was done at low frequency between 1 to 10 kHz. The Nyquist plot gives the resistant characteristics of the materials due to diffusional resistance at the electrode-electrolyte interface. The Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopyanalysis (EDAX) analysis showed that the percentage doping of nitrogen and manganese were 3.53 wt% and 9.44 wt% respectively. It is observed from the experiment Mn/N-C doped carbon show good physical and electrochemical properties.

  • Solvolyses rate constant of 1- and 2- naphthoyl chlorides (1 and 2) are reported for aqueous binary mixtures with methanol, ethanol, fluorinated alcohol, acetonitrile and dioxane. Kinetic solvent isotope effects (KISE) in methanol and product selectivities (S) of 2-naphthoyl chloride (2) in alcohol-water are also reported. Dispersions in Grunwald-Winstein correlations $(r{\leq}0.901)$ are discussed by multiple regression analysis incorporating ionizing power $(Y_{Cl})$ scale and rate-rate profiles. Major causes for these phenomena are investigated as an aromatic ring solvation effects, in conjunction with weakly nucleophilic solvation effects ($S_N2$ character), for solvolyses of 1 and for solvolyses of 2, as dual reaction channels, described as $S_N1$-$S_N2$ and $S_AN$-$S_N2$ processes. Distinct border lines between the two pathways are derived from solvolyses rates of 2 in 18 solvent using the results of $log(k/k_o)=mY_{Cl}+lN_T+hI$ plot with values of 1.13 for m, 0.37 for l and 0.15 for h value in 5 aqueous fluorinated alcohol mixtures. Using rate-product correlation, the validity of a third order model based on a general base catalyzed by solvent and contribution from these rate constants, $k_{aa},\;k_{aw}$ and $k_{aw}$, are investigated for $S_AN$-$S_N2$ solvolyses of 2 favored in more rich alcohol media and gradual addition of water to alcohol solvent shows a great shift away from stoichiometric solvation to predominantly medium effects. Rate-rate correlation between solvolyses of 2 and trimethyl acetylchloride (5) with alkyl group in the 29 aqueous solvent mixtures shows appreciable linearity (slope = 0.84, r = 0.987), caused by the same pathway ($S_N1$-$S_N2$ process), even if this correlation coincides with appreciable dispersion (different solvation effect).

  • Objective : The Leksell Gamma Knife$^{(R)}$ (LGK) is based on a single-fraction high dose treatment strategy. Therefore, independent verification of the Leksell GammaPlan$^{(R)}$ (LGP) is important for ensuring patient safety and minimizing the risk of treatment errors. Although several verification techniques have been previously developed and reported, no method has ever been tested statistically on multiple LGK target treatments. The purpose of this study was to perform and to evaluate the accuracy of a verification method (modified variable ellipsoid modeling technique, MVEMT) for multiple target treatments. Methods : A total of 500 locations in 10 consecutive patients with multiple brain tumor targets were included in this study. We compared the data from an LGP planning system and MVEMT in terms of dose at random points, maximal dose points, and target volumes. All data was analyzed by t-test and the Bland-Altman plot, which are statistical methods used to compare two different measurement techniques. Results : No statistical difference in dose at the 500 random points was observed between LGP and MVEMT. Differences in maximal dose ranged from -2.4% to 6.1%. An average distance of 1.6 mm between the maximal dose points was observed when comparing the two methods. Conclusion : Statistical analyses demonstrated that MVEMT was in excellent agreement with LGP when planning for radiosurgery involving multiple target treatments. MVEMT is a useful, independent tool for planning multiple target treatment that provides statistically identical data to that produced by LGP. Findings from the present study indicate that MVEMT can be used as a reference dose verification system for multiple tumors.
