  • This Study was performed to get the suitable oil dispersion agent by assessment of color strength of organic pigment in non-aqueous systems. Organic pigment is used as a color expression material with other body pigments in the make-up products. But occasionally aggregation or agglomeration occurs for the lack of affinity with medium, This function is the cause of disturbing homogeneous dispersion, and then bring about an instability of products. Our study, research of dispersion mechanism between the pigment and oil phase, has been executed to solve this problem, and find a oil dispersion agent having optimum dispersion condition. Generally dispersion is related to between the solid-liquid mutual properties and electrical phenomena associated with solid-liquid interface. This factor is determined to input energy, milling time, optical properties, particle size, rheological properties, etc. Ideal dispersion state is told that coloring primary solid particle is homogeneously dispersed in medium. Good dispersed colorants are strongly and clearly appeared. We are already known that the particle size of organic pigment, chemical properties and viscosity of medium, refractive index. Consequently We determine the affinity of medium and organic pigment by measuring of color strength in the same mechanical condition. UV-VISIBLE RECORDING SPECTRO PHOTOMETER is used for measuring apparatus. We can decided the dispersion level of oil dispersion agent by measuring absorbance of color strength in the visible range that diluted medium for colloid colorant particles.

  • Hair luster is a key objective for consumers in the hair care market. Recently, as consumers using hair coloring or bleaching product increase, measurement and quantification of hair luster become more important. A hair visual appearance measurement system called SAMBA can quantitate the luster and effectively separate specular and diffuse light. SAMBA usually has been employed to measure, mainly with the change of shine value, effects of cosmetic treatments on hair shine and surface smothness. We conducted a study on the effect of dyeing and bleaching on the luster, as a result, a strong bleaching caused large decline of the luster. But the large decline of luster was caused by increasing intensity of diffusion and width of chroma peak, not the shine value. The system of dye toning for higher luster can be developed on reference to the peak type of chroma and diffusion depends on kinds and combination of dye.

  • In this study, latent fingermarks deposited in porous or non-porous surface was developed by cyanoacrylate fuming, and then the developed fingermark is enhanced by using Rhodamine 6G. Between water-based R6G and organic solvent-based R6G, author studied about which material have higher effectiveness in enhancing fingermark. In all seven types of surfaces depositing fingermark, water-based R6G have higher effectiveness in enhancing fingermark and lower surface coloring than organic solvent-based R6G. But because the surfaces found in crime scene have multicolor background and various quality, the additional study about various surfaces is needed.

  • In this study, we developed a scalp protect powder (scalp irritation abirritant). We proved this powder can lessen sensitivity of skin against diamine dyes (PPD, PTD, etc.) by carrying out safety test and clinical experiments. This scalp protect powder accelerates dyeing process, and reduces not only scalp irritation but also hair damage. Using our optimum formula, ammonia can be caught in liquid-crystalline structure, subsequently, bad odor is reduced dramatically.

  • Dolomite type $BaSn(BO_3)_2$ ceramics with rhombohedral crystal structure has been synthesized via solid state reaction route. Dielectric properties were measured for the samples sintered at $1050\~1200^{\circ}C$ for 2 h in air. Dielectric constant, loss tangent, and temperature coefficient were increased with sintering temperature due to the evolution of $BaSnO_3$, secondary, phase. Optimum dielectric properties were obtained at the $BaSn(BO_3)_2$ ceramics sintered at $1100^{\circ}C.\;CuO/Bi_2O_3$ was added to $BaSn(BO_3)_2$ ceramics to lower the sintering temperature for LTCC application, then Co and Fe-based coloring agents were added for colorizing the LTCC tape. Typical dielectric properties of $BaSn(BO_3)_2$ ceramics with $5 wt\%\;CuO/Bi_2O_3\;and\;3wt\%$ Co-coloring agent that sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ were $\varepsilon_r=9.89,\;tan{\delta}=0.92\times10^{-3},\;and\;TCC=112ppm/^{\circ}C$. Thus obtained LTCC tape was co-fired with Ag paste for compatibility test and revealed no sign of Ag reaction with the ceramics.

  • Coloring agents in food materials plays important roles in the development of attractive products as well as in the functionality of food such as antioxidant or vitamin supplementation. Carrot has been used as an orange coloring agent in the decoration of food but also a major source of vitamin A complex. Though orange has been considered a typical color of carrot, the Rainbow carrot has been developed recently, which exhibit the various colors such as red, pale yellow, purple, orange or their mixtures. After categorization onto 8 groups by their colors, vitamin A complex (${\beta}$-carotene, lycopene and lutein) and soluble sugars (glucose, fructose, and sucrose) have been analyzed in carrots. The ${\beta}$-carotene was abundant in the groups of orange (Group-O) or groups with the orange color (group-OP, and group-YOP). The content of lycopene content was exclusively high in the red color carrot (group-R). The highest lutein contents were observed from the yellow-purple (group-YP) group. Meanwhile, little amounts of lycopene and ${\beta}$-carotene were observed in yellow-purple (group-YP) nor yellow (group-Y) on yellow (group-Y). Among the reducing sugars in 'rainbow carrots', the amount of sucrose was two times higher than those of fructose and glucose. However, the content of glucose, fructose and sucrose as well as the total reducing sugars did not differ between color groups suggesting little variations on their tastes.

  • PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of polishing and glazing on the color and spectral distribution of monolithic zirconia. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Forty-five monolithic zirconia specimens ($16.3mm{\times}16.4mm{\times}2.0mm$) were fabricated and divided into 5 groups according to the number of A2-coloring liquid applications (Group I to V). Each group was divided into 3 subgroups according to the method of surface treatments (n=3): N: no treatment; P: polishing; G: glazing. Color and spectral distribution of five different areas of each specimen were measured according to CIELAB color space in the reflectance mode relative to the standard illuminant D65 on a reflection spectrophotometer. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey's HSD test, Pearson correlation and regression analysis (${\alpha}$=.05). RESULTS. There was a significant difference in CIE $L^*$ between Subgroup N and P, and in CIE $b^*$ between Subgroup P and G in each group. Spectral reflectance generally decreased in Subgroup P and G in comparison with Subgroup N. Color differences between Subgroup P and G were within the perceptibility threshold (${\Delta}E{^*}_{ab}$ < 3.7) in most groups. Highly significant correlation was found between CIE $b^*$ and each subgroups as the number of coloring liquid applications increased ($R^2$ >0.88, P<.001). CONCLUSION. A perceptible color difference can be detected after polishing of monolithic zirconia. Polishing decreases the lightness, and glazing also decreases the lightness, but increases the yellowness of monolithic zirconia.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the coloring properties of non-mordant dyes by examining local literature on silk fabric dyeing using red-colored natural dyes. Natural dyes can be prepared from the following 8 materials: purple-fleshed sweet potato, Impatiens balsamina, mulberry, fruits of Ligustrum japonicum Thunb, guava leaves, dansam, hibiscus flowers, and pruned branches of Prunus persica. To examine the surface color calculated $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$, ${\Delta}E^*$, and K/S value and H V/C. The variables considered in the dyeing experiment were dye concentration, dyeing temperature, dyeing time, and number of dyeing iterations, which were varied to evaluate the dyeing properties and color characteristics. As a result, the abovementioned variables, dye affinity, and red color expression were directly proportional to one another. In this study, it was found that red coloring can be obtained with natural dyes; moreover, excellent dyeing was achieved without the need for repeated dyeing or mordanting processes, which cause environmental pollution.

  • The high molecular-weight mucilage extracted and purified from cactus fruit of Opuntia ficus-indica var. Saboten was degraded by the cell-free culture filtrate of a fungus isolated from soil. TLC analysis of the polymeric mucilage after incubation with the fungal culture filtrate confirmed its degradation. When the degradation products were tested for their qualitative reactions with ninhydrin and phenol-sulfuric acid, only phenol-sulfuric acid gave positive development, and ninhydrin did not show any observable color reaction. This coloring reaction suggested the presence of a carbohydrate without an amino group within the mucilage. Analyses by HPLC and liquid gel permeation chromatography on sephadex G-100 also provided additional information on degradation of the mucilage by the fungal culture filtrate. The sequences of ITS-5.8S rDNA from the fungal isolate that was cultivated for the preparation of mucilage-degrading enzyme showed 99% similarity to those of Pestalotiopsis aquatica.

  • In this paper, we investigate a frequency assignment problem from graph theory for military communications. We propose an algorithm based on the graph coloring theory and confirm that we utilize 0.77 times lower number of frequencies. We also propose a hybrid algorithm that facilitates a trade-off between the range and the spectrum utilization gain.
