  • To determine contribution rate to matrimonial wealth accumulation of urban housewives, a survey was made toward them by using questionaires from September 1994 to October 1994. Three hundred-eighteen housewives were randomly selected from Pusan area. The results obtained were as follows. Average contributing rate to household income was 65.7 percent for husbands and 34.3 percent for wives. The contribution rates evaluated by themselves of wives were 38.1 percent for the house property; 36.5 percent for the savings; 9.6 percent for the real estate; 5.2 percent for the land; 9.3 percent for the stocks & bonds; and 9.2 percent for others. Data were collected by self-reported questionaires from 254 Korean elderly in seoul, from June 1 to July 15, 1998. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and correlational analysis using pc-SAS program. The Linear Structural Modeling(LISREL) 8.0 program was used to find the best fit model which predicts causal relationships of variables. The overall fit of the hypothetical model to the data was moderate[X$^2$=249.83(df=83, p=.00), RMR=.07, GFI=.90, NNFI=.92, NFI =.91]. The predictable variables of health promoting behavior of the Korean elderly were social activity. social support. self-integrity and helplessness except the perceived health status. • The aim of the present study is to explore the following two key questions on woman's attitude toward the clothing : (1) Their willingness to make their own dress at home : (2) purchasing tendencies of ready-made wear. The data were drawn through questionaires collected form 495 women in random sampling-335 housewives and 160 high school woman teachers living in Seoul. The findings are ; 1. As a whole there is no significant difference between the teachers and the housewives in their attitudes on clothing and home dressmaking. 2. Teachers and housewives alike have shown the tendency to avoid to take the trouble to make their own dresses themselves due, in large measure, to the technical difficulties of dressmarking. 3. On account of general shortcomings of ready-made clothing such as poor quality cloth, casual workmanship, inadequate assortment, unfitness of size to figure and outdated fashion, they purchase ready-made only for casual uses and really resort to tailor made for formal dresses. Since this paper is preliminary report, the accounts are to intend to be suggestive rather than conclusive, and more detailed and profound must, of course, await further empirical research.

  • We performed the cross-cultural adaptation process directed at the translation into Korean of the Pain Visual Analogue Scale, the Self-Report of Improvement and the Beacke Physical Activity Questionnaire for Older Adults. This project will help ensure that the Korean versions of these measures retain their meaning and measurement properties when applied to the Korean language and culture. This will help reduce measurement error in the RCT. This research should be of value to other researchers who wish to study older adults with rheumatological conditions.
