Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test a KPAAT(Korean Parent As a Teacher Test) and provide a basic data to develop parent education program. Methods: This is a secondary analysis study using 103 preschool mothers who were chosen from 2 kindergarten and child care center located at Kyounki-Do. Results: 1) Subjects' child-rearing attitude was above average at the point of $2.86({\pm}\;.20)$. 2) 16 sub-dimension(response to question, permissive attitude of play, control, control of play, expectation about child, understanding about learning, support of learning, encouragement of thinking, provision of imaginary play opportunities, support of play, encouragement of accomplishment motivation, propriety of child-rearing, affectional support, fixed idea, confidence about education, limitation) and 6 factors(response to question, permission of play, control & limitation, evaluation & support about child, encouragement of academic accomplishment, facilitation of the development of creativity) were above 2.50 except ($2.24{\pm}\;.29$) sub-dimension. 3) There was no significant difference statistically according to subjects' general characteristics. Conclusion: From this study, KPAAT can be utilized later childhood period. And nurses need to help mothers to have sound child rearing attitude.
This study reports a research which was conducted on how frequently and where the students use the unit circle method while dealing with trigonometric functions in solving the trigonometry questions. Moreover, the reasons behind the choice of the methods, which could be the unit circle method, the ratio method, or the use of trigonometric identities, are also investigated to get an insight about their understanding. In this study, the relationship between the students' choices of methods in solving questions is examined in terms of instrumental or relational understanding. This is a multi-method research which involves a range of research strategies. The research techniques used in this study are test, verbal protocol (think aloud), and interview. The test has been applied to ten tenth grade students of a public school to get students' solution processes on the paper. Later on, verbal protocol has been performed with three students of these ten who were of the upper, middle and lower sets in terms of their performance in the test. The aim was to get much deeper data on the students' thinking and reasoning. Finally, interview questions have been asked both these three students and other three from the initial ten students to question the reasons behind their answers to the trigonometry questions. Findings in general suggest that students voluntarily choose to learn instrumentally whose reasons include teachers' and students' preference for the easier option and the anxiety resulting from the external exam pressure.
The Family Planning Program has teen intensively implemented in Korea by the national policy since 1962. However, the desired effective results were not fully obtained by many reasons such as the shortage of qualified workers, lack of eligible women's cooperation and understanding of the importance of family planning etc., The field family planning workers is classified into two categories along the governmental personnel order; the senior field worker and the assistant field worker. The former is qualified licensed nurse and the latter same as the former of a certified nurses-aid. These family planning worker's roles are somewhat in change not only in field education, distribution of contraceptions, administrating mother's class of assistant field workers but also responsible for the senior field workers such as recording, reporting and keeping statistics. Therefor, the desired success of family planning programming in Korea depends on family planning worker's professional abilities and activities in the field. In aiming to study on professional knowledge of the above two kinds of family planning workers, the following results were obtained through a field survey with question airs done as of October, 1970 in Kyonggi-Do. 1. Working term of the family planning workers in average were less than two years. The younger the assistant Field workers were, the earlier they left job. 2. The assistant field workers selected their job in order to the superficial rather than implementing job itself. 3. Most of the workers either in the health center or in the Up-Myun had a better understanding concerning with their job ; contraceptive methods, maintenance of equipment and drug keeping, and other administrative procedures, etc., 4. They had relatively better understanding and sufficient knowledge about contraception itself and application of it's methods and side effects in detail too, but less knowledges for the care after. 5. It was hard to Find out any differences in administrative knowledge and demographic understanding. 5. It is fully agreed upon that the longer the worker have experienced with the program, the more skilful she applied. 7. The worker who had training whether pre-service or insertive are working more effectively than the untrained. 8. The fundamental demographic knowledge is recommended to obtain for the workers in Kyonggi-Do.
This research, selected for 40 classrooms(20 old, 20 new) in chungnam area from June 22 to July 19 and from November 21 to December 30, 2003, in order to study of Recognition of Indoor Air Quality of Indoor Environment at School. we used Questionnaire for 193 health teachers, 41 teachers, and 1,359 students. The results of study are as follows. 1. To the question 'Currently Were you damage caused by classroom air?', showed that worry class teachers more than students with 43.9% of class teachers, 35.9% of health teachers and 23.5% of students. 2. To the question 'What would be an efficient way to manage classroom sanitation?', 50% of class teachers, 40.5% of health teachers and 47.4% of students wanted 'installation of air purifier.' 3. To the question 'How are you getting information about indoor air pollution?', showed that all of 3 groups get information through on TV. 4. According to survey, Health teachers who act as health supervisors appeared to have more prior knowledge air quality than class teachers and students. The results of this research show insufficient understanding of health risks from indoor air pollution, and shows possible health problems to students from school indoor air pollution. Therefore, these results suggested that a logical and systematic education program for students about the importance of indoor air quality should be carried out.
This study conducted a survey on recognition of teachers, students, and Parent Teacher Association(PTA) for the Education for Sustainable Development from April to October, 2008. It confirmed a couple of facts, which were summarized as follows; First, among eight educational areas including Environmental Education, Energy Education, Gender Education, World Heritage Education, Multi-cultural Coexistence Education, Peace Education, Education for human rights, and Education for international understanding that UNESCO had offered, this study showed that the 'Environmental Education' is a relatively important area comparing with others. Second, 54.4% of the respondents have agree with the need of the education for sustainable development in the middle school and the high school, and 54.1% of them showed their willingness to participate in the program. Third, because 49.2% of the respondents chose 'important' on the question of 'how important the field education and the experience education are', it looked like most of them agreed with the importance of the field education and the experience education. Fourth, because 61.1% of the responded teachers chose 'need' on the question of 'if it needs relationship with other studies', it looked like most of them agreed with the necessity of relationship with other studies. Fifth, 62.5% of the respondents chose 'no' on the question of 'if they conduct the education for sustainable development Even if some wanted the education for sustainable development, most of them would not do it in the regular curriculum, but in the special activity class or teacher's discretional time. Sixth, most respondents indicated the teacher's class burden and the teacher's lack of knowledge as the problem if the education for sustainable development would be conducted. This result implied that in order to vitalize the education for sustainable development, the teacher's class burden should be reduced and the teacher train program is necessary. Finally, urgent requested studies could improve the education for sustainable development in communities and schools, because the result of the survey showed education, natural observation learning, and visiting ecological parks as important elements.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the elementary pre-service teachers' conceptions on 'the freezing point depression' focusing on the survey from a National University of Education. Eighteen pre-service teachers who had completed high school Chemistry II coursework were selected to participate in the study. Participants answered a four question survey to measure their scientific knowledge and conceptions of this phenomenon. Each answer was qualitatively analyzed to determine whether they have 'scientific conceptions' or 'quasi-scientific conceptions' or 'misconceptions'. The results from the study are as follows: First, it was showed that none of the eighteen participants had 'scientific conceptions', six had 'quasi-scientific conceptions' and eight had 'misconceptions' about the caused effect when $CaCl_2$ is scattered on the ice. Second, it was found that three participants had 'scientific conceptions', eight had 'quasi-scientific conceptions' and two had 'misconceptions' for the second survey question. Third, ten out of eighteen participants demonstrated 'scientific conceptions' about the phenomenon of salt water freezing. Fourth, only three of eighteen participants illustrated appropriate 'scientific conceptions' for the fourth survey question. Fifth, of all participants, none answered more than three questions correctly, and only three participants answered any combination of two questions correctly. Based on the findings of this study, five explanatory models were developed. And the models were proposed for pre-service teachers to enhance their understanding of the freezing point depression phenomenon.
The so-called "Needham's Grand Question" (NGQ) can be formulated as why modern science was developed in Europe despite the earlier successes of science and technology in ancient China. Numerous answers have been proposed. In this review, it will be pointed out that traditional Chinese natural philosophy (TCNP) and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) are in fact dealing with problems of highly complex dynamical systems of Nature and human beings. Due to the lack of mathematical machinery in dealing with such complex phenomena, a holistic approach was taken by ancient Chinese instead. It was very successful for the first eighteen centuries. In the recent three centuries, however, the reductionist and mechanistic viewpoints of Western natural philosophy, sciences, and medicine have been prevalent all over the world up to now. The main obstacle in preventing the advancement of TCM, TCNP and its sciences is actually the lacking of proper mathematical tools in dealing with complex dynamical systems. Fortunately, the tools are now available and a "chaotic wave theory of fractal continuum" has been proposed recently. To give the theory an operational meaning, three basic laws of TCNP are outlined. These three laws of wave/field interactions contrast readily with those of Newton's particle collisions. Via the proposed three laws, TCM, TCNP and its sciences can be unified under the same principles. Finally, an answer to NGQ can be accurately given. It is hoped that this review will help promoting a genuine understanding of natural philosophy, sciences, and medicine in an ecumenical way.

Background: This study analyzed questions searched by rotator cuff patients and determined types and quality of websites providing information. Methods: Three strings related to rotator cuff repair were explored by Google Search. Result pages were collected under the "People also ask" function for frequent questions and associated webpages. Questions were categorized using Rothwell classification and topical subcategorization. Webpages were evaluated by Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) benchmark criteria for source quality. Results: One hundred twenty "People also ask" questions were collected with associated webpages. Using the Rothwell classification of questions, queries were organized into fact (41.7%), value (31.7%), and policy (26.7%). The most common webpage categories were academic (28.3%) and medical practice (27.5%). The most common question subcategories were timeline of recovery (21.7%), indications/management (21.7%), and pain (18.3%). Average JAMA score for all 120 webpages was 1.50. Journal articles had the highest average JAMA score (3.77), while commercial websites had the lowest JAMA score (0.91). The most commonly suggested question for rotator cuff repair/surgery was, "Is rotator cuff surgery worth having?," while the most commonly suggested question for rotator cuff repair pain was, "What happens if a rotator cuff is not repaired?" Conclusions: The most commonly asked questions pertaining to rotator cuff repair evaluate management options and relate to timeline of recovery and pain management. Most information is provided by medical practice, academic, and medical information websites, which have highly variable reliability. By understanding questions their patients search online, surgeons can tailor preoperative education to patient concerns and improve postoperative outcomes.
This study examines whether there is a difference in satisfaction according to understanding level and participation level as well as the question of what kind of difference in consulting result. As a result of analyzing the model using the structural equation, it was confirmed that even if the quality of the consulting service was high, the satisfaction of the consulting company would be lowered if the contents were not understood or the participation was low. In other words, it was confirmed that service quality and satisfaction level of consultants were influenced by understanding and participation of company. The result implies that the high level consulting services of the consultants are also important, but in order to understand the understanding and participation of the consulting firms also affects the consulting satisfaction, and to increase the consulting performance, It is necessary to make aggressive effort to implement a corporate culture that can raise the level of education.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the sixth graders' understanding of concepts and operation about fraction. The test was administered and analyzed to 707 sixth graders' performance on fractions after the fraction instructions in elementary schools in Seoul, Korea. The participants are asked to answer two sets of questions for 40 minutes. First, they are asked to answer to 16 problems about the concepts of fraction with respect to part-whole, ratio, operator, measure, quotient, equivalent, and operations. Second, specially, to investigate sixth graders' ability of drawing and describing the situation of division including fraction, the descriptive problem asked students (1) to describe $3\;{\div}\;\frac{1}{2}$ into pictorial representation and (2) to write the solving process. The participants of this study didn't show deep understandings about the concepts and operation of fraction. The degree of understanding of subconstructs of fraction shows that their knowledge of ratio concept with respect to fraction was highest while their understanding of measure with respect to fraction was lowest. Considering their wrong answers, about 59% of participants showed misconception to the question of naming one fraction that appears between $\frac{1}{5}$ and $\frac{1}{6}$. Further, they didn't explain their understanding with drawing about the division of fraction ($3\;{\div}\;\frac{1}{2}$).
