  • A large volume of continuously growing BGP data files can raise two technical challenges regarding scalability and manageability. Due to the recent development of the open-source distributed computing infrastructure, Hadoop, it becomes feasible to handle a large amount of data in a scalable manner. In this paper, we present a new Hadoop-based BGP tool (BGPdoop) that provides the scale-out performance as well as the extensible and agile analysis capability. In particular, BGPdoop realizes a query-based BGP record exploration function using Hive on the partitioned BGP data structure, which enables flexible and versatile analytics of BGP archive files. From the experiments for the scalability with a Hadoop cluster of 20 nodes, we demonstrate that BGPdoop achieves 5 times higher performance and the user-defined analysis capability by expressing diverse BGP routing analytics in Hive queries.

  • CBIR is an effective tool to search and extract image contents in a large remote sensing image database queried by an operator or end user. However, as imaging principles are different by sensors, their visual representation thus varies among image modality type. Considering images of various modalities archived in the database, image modality difference has to be tackled for the successful CBIR implementation. However, this topic has been seldom dealt with and thus still poses a practical challenge. This study suggests a cross modality CBIR (termed as the CM-CBIR) method that transforms given query feature vector by a supervised procedure in order to link between modalities. This procedure leverages the skill of analyst in training steps after which the transformed query vector is created for the use of searching in target images with different modalities. Current initial results show the potential of the proposed CM-CBIR method by delivering the image content of interest from different modality images. Despite its retrieval capability is outperformed by that of same modality CBIR (abbreviated as the SM-CBIR), the lack of retrieval performance can be compensated by employing the user's relevancy feedback, a conventional technique for retrieval enhancement.

  • This paper proposes a design for efficient and accurate retrieval of similar image subsequences using the multi-dimensional time warping distance as similarity evaluation tool in image sequence database after building of two indexing structures implemented with priority queue and suffix tree respectively. Receiving query image sequence, at first step, the proposed method searches the candidate set of similar image subsequences in priory queue index structure. If it can not get satisfied results, it retrieves another candidate set in suffix tree index structure at second step. The using of the low-bound distance function can remove the dissimilar subsequence without false dismissals during similarity evaluating process between query image sequence and stored sequences in two index structures.

  • Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) has kept the largest amount of gene-expression microarray data that have grown exponentially. Microarray data in GEO have been generated in many different formats and often lack standardized annotation and documentation. It is hard to know if preprocessing has been applied to a dataset or not and in what way. Standard-based integration of heterogeneous data formats and metadata is necessary for comprehensive data query, analysis and mining. We attempted to integrate the heterogeneous microarray data in GEO based on Minimum Information About a Microarray Experiment (MIAME) standard. We unified the data fields of GEO Data table and mapped the attributes of GEO metadata into MIAME elements. We also discriminated non-preprocessed raw datasets from others and processed ones by using a two-step classification method. Most of the procedures were developed as semi-automated algorithms with some degree of text mining techniques. We localized 2,967 Platforms, 4,867 Series and 103,590 Samples with covering 279 organisms, integrated them into a standard-based relational schema and developed a comprehensive query interface to extract. Our tool, GEOQuest is available at http://www.snubi.org/software/GEOQuest/.

  • Graph databases have been developed to efficiently store and query graph data composed of vertices and edges to express relationships between objects. Since the query types of graph database show very different characteristics from traditional NoSQL databases, benchmarking tools suitable for graph databases to verify the performance of the graph database are needed. In this paper, we propose an efficient graph database benchmarking system that supports diversity in graph inputs and queries. The proposed system utilizes OrientDB to conduct benchmarking for graph databases. In order to support the diversity of input graphs and query graphs, we use LDBC that is an existing graph data generation tool. We demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed scheme through analysis of benchmarking results. As a result of performance evaluation, it has been shown that the proposed system can generate customizable synthetic graph data, and benchmarking can be performed based on the generated graph data.

  • Database integration is a common and growing challenge with the proliferation of database systems, data warehouses, data marts, and other OLAP systems in organizations. Although there are many methods of sharing data between databases, true interoperability of database integration system that improves in the database federation architecture by allowing domain administrators to simply and efficiently capture database semantics. The semantic information is combined using a tool for producing a global view. Building the global view is the bottleneck in integration because there are few tools that support its construction, and these tools often require sophisticated knowledge and experience to operate properly. The technique and tool presented is simple and powerful enough to be used by all database administrators, yet expressive enough to support the majority of integration queries.

  • It has been commonly accepted for a while that a successful tool environment must provide for smooth interfaces between its tools. Recent integrated CASE environment must be-based on well-integrated data repository which supports a tightly coupled, consistent environment. For the maintenance tool, it requires a careful design of the maintenance chest's database. Information about a program exists in many different forms after analyses have been performed. It must be possible to associate and select objects for data repository from this information as necessary. This paper suggests a new integrated scheme for the data repository in building software maintenancec environment. The scheme provides many basic services, including storage and management of objects/entities and links/ relations; version and configuration control, query service, data interchange service.

  • Background: The body schema, which is constantly updated using somatosensory information, enables accurate movement. Since pain is reported as a possible source to alter the body schema, the left right judgement test (LRJT) has been widely used in the pain rehabilitation. However, there was a lack of consistency in the effect of the pain on the LRJT results, and for the effect of the LRJT as a part of intervention programs for pain patients. The deeper understand of the LRJT is necessary for better reproducibility, and to expand the therapeutic applications of the LRJT in the pain and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Objects: This literature review aimed to understand the LRJT and to study the potential of the LRJT for therapeutic applications. Methods: The PubMed database was searched for studies relevant to LRJT. To establish the query set, the term was regarded from various perspectives. Results: The selected studies were classified into three categories: LRJT development, factors influencing LRJT, and therapeutic applications. Conclusion: Left right judgement test is the evaluation tool for the integrity of body schema as well as a tool for implicit motor imagery. Pain, proprioception, and other factors influence the performance of the LRJT.
