  • Database outsourcing is unavoidable in the near future. In the scenario of data stream outsourcing, the data owner continuously publishes the latest data and associated authentication information through a service provider. Clients may register queries to the service provider and verify the result's correctness, utilizing the additional authentication information. Research on On-line Stream Analytics (OLSA) is motivated by extending the data cube technology for higher multi-level abstraction on the low-level-abstracted data streams. Existing work on OLSA fails to consider the issue of database outsourcing, while previous work on stream authentication does not support OLSA. To close this gap and solve the problem of OLSA query authentication while outsourcing data streams, we propose MDAHRB and MDAHB, two multi-dimensional authentication approaches. They are based on the general data model for OLSA, the stream cube. First, we improve the data structure of the H-tree, which is used to store the stream cube. Then, we design and implement two authentication schemes based on the improved H-trees, the HRB- and HB-trees, in accordance with the main stream query authentication framework for database outsourcing. Along with a cost models analysis, consistent with state-of-the-art cost metrics, an experimental evaluation is performed on a real data set. It exhibits that both MDAHRB and MDAHB are feasible for authenticating OLSA queries, while MDAHRB is more scalable.

  • Outsourcing databases is to offload storage and computationally intensive tasks to the third party server. Therefore, data owners can manage big data, and handle queries from clients, without building a costly infrastructure. However, because of the insecurity of network systems, the third-party server may be untrusted, thus the query results from the server may be tampered with. This problem has motivated significant research efforts on authenticating various queries such as range query, kNN query, function query, etc. Although aggregation queries play a key role in analyzing big data, authenticating aggregation queries has not been extensively studied, and the previous works are not efficient for data with high dimension or a large number of distinct values. In this paper, we propose the AMR-tree that is a data structure, applied to authenticate aggregation queries. We also propose an efficient proof construction method and a verification method with the AMR-tree. Furthermore, we validate the performance of the proposed algorithm by conducting various experiments through changing parameters such as the number of distinct values, the number of records, and the dimension of data.

  • Recently, research on database encryption for data protection and query result authentication methods has been performed more actively in the database outsourcing environment. Existing database encryption schemes are vulnerable to order matching and counting attack of intruders who have background knowledge of the original database domain. Existing query result integrity auditing methods suffer from the transmission overhead of verification object. To resolve these problems, we propose a group-order preserving encryption index and a query result authentication method based on the encryption index. Our group-order preserving encryption index groups the original data for data encryption and support query processing without data decryption. We generate group ids by using the Hilbert-curve so that we can protect the group information while processing a query. Finally, our periodic function based data grouping and query result authentication scheme can reduce the data size of the query result verification. Through performance evaluation, we show that our method achieves better performance than an existing bucket-based verification scheme, it is 1.6 times faster in terms of query processing time and produces verification data that is 20 times smaller.

  • Tiered wireless sensor network is a network model of flexibility and robustness, which consists of the traditional resource-limited sensor nodes and the resource-abundant storage nodes. In such architecture, collected data from the sensor nodes are periodically submitted to the nearby storage nodes for archive purpose. When a query is requested, storage nodes also process the query and return qualified data as the result to the base station. The role of the storage nodes leads to an attack prone situation and leaves them more vulnerable in a hostile environment. If any of them is compromised, fake data may be injected into and/or qualified data may be discarded. And the base station would receive incorrect answers incurring malfunction to applications. In this paper, an efficient verifiable top-k query processing scheme called EVTQ is proposed, which is capable of verifying the authentication and completeness of the results. Collected data items with the embedded information of ordering and adjacent relationship through a hashed message authentication coding function, which serves as a validation code, are submitted from the sensor nodes to the storage nodes. Any injected or incomplete data in the returned result from a corresponded storage node is detected by the validation code at the base station. For saving communication cost, two optimized solutions that fuse and compress validation codes are presented. Experiments on communication cost show the proposed method is more efficiency than previous works.

  • In this paper, we describe a FIDO universal authentication system based on a Blockchain that can share the user's FIDO authentication information between the application services of multiple domains without the use of a server. In addition we provide a method to query the FIDO authentication information of the user recorded in the Blockchain using only the user's service ID. Therefore, even if the user executes the FIDO registration process only once, the user can use the FIDO authentication service of another application service without repeating an additional FIDO registration procedure, and the service provider can securely share and utilize the FIDO authentication information of the user without the use of a trusted third party, thereby lowering the deployment and maintenance costs of the FIDO server.

  • With the increasing electricity consumption and the wide application of renewable energy sources, energy auction attracts a lot of attention due to its economic benefits. Many schemes have been proposed to support energy auction in smart grid. However, few of them can achieve range query, ranked search and personalized search. In this paper, we propose an efficient multi-keyword range query (EMRQ) scheme, which can support range query, ranked search and personalized search simultaneously. Based on the homomorphic Paillier cryptosystem, we use two super-increasing sequences to aggregate multidimensional keywords. The first one is used to aggregate one buyer's or seller's multidimensional keywords to an aggregated number. The second one is used to create a summary number by aggregating the aggregated numbers of all sellers. As a result, the comparison between the keywords of all sellers and those of one buyer can be achieved with only one calculation. Security analysis demonstrates that EMRQ can achieve confidentiality of keywords, authentication, data integrity and query privacy. Extensive experiments show that EMRQ is more efficient compared with the scheme in [3] in terms of computation and communication overhead.

  • In large-scale distributed sensor networks, it is often recommended to employ mobile sinks, instead of fixed base stations, for data collection to prolong network lifetime and enhance security. Mobile sinks may also be used, e.g., for network repair, identification and isolation of compromised sensor nodes and localized reprogramming, etc. In such circumstances, mobile sinks should be able to securely interact with neighbor sensor nodes while traversing the network. This paper presents a secure and efficient mobile query protocol that can be used for such purposes.

  • There are many weaknesses in sensor networks due to hardware limitation of sensor nodes besides the vulnerabilities of a wireless channel. In order to provide sensor networks with security, we should find out the approaches different from ones in existing wireless networks; the security mechanism in sensor network should be light-weighted and not degrade network performance. Sowe proposed a novel data origin authentication satisfying both of being light-weighted and maintaining network performance by using Unique Random Sequence Code. This scheme uses a challenge-response authentication consisting of a query code and a response code. In this paper, we show how to make a Unique Random Sequence Code and how to use it for data origin authentication.
