섬유 문화재의 분석과 보존처리 - 이론과 실제 - (Analysis and Conservation of Historic Textiles - Theory and Practice -)

  • To conserve historic textiles, analyses of textile materials, pollutants and deterioration are prerequisite steps. Based upon analytical results, guides for conservation of historic textiles are established. In analyses of textile materials, pollutants and deterioration, there are chemical methods(burning, solubility and staining), physical methods(microscopy and density) and instrumental analysis(Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Fourier Transform Raman Spectroscopy(FT-Raman), Gas Chromatography(GC), Mass Spectroscopy(MS), X-Ray Fluorescence (EDXRF, WDXRF), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy(EDS), and X-Ray Diffraction(XRD), Tensile Testing Machine etc.). Combination of qualitative and quantitative analyses makes accurate diagnosis of textile condition possible. As examples of analyses and conservation of historic textiles, Chuninsan(19 century) similar to sunshade with handing down historic textile and golden decorative skirt(17 century) with excavated costume are taken.

Densification and Dielectric Properties of Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3-Glass Composites for LTCC Applications

  • Barium zincoborate (BZB) glass was added to $Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}TiO_3$, and sintered at $875^{\circ}C$ for 2 h in air. When the BZB glass was added in quantities ranging from 15 to 20 wt%, the relative bulk density ranged from 93.1% to 94.2%, while the density decreased to roughly 81% thereafter up to 30 wt% glass addition. Quantitative XRD analysis showed that the $Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}TiO_3$ filler was significantly dissolved into the BZB glass. However, no secondary phase was identified by XRD up to 30 wt% glass addition. The dielectric constant was about 130 to 140 at 1MHz up to 20 wt% BZB glass addition, while it decreased to about 60 thereafter, which may be ascribed to decreased density, partial dissolution of the $Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}TiO_3$, and associated changes in the glass composition. The dielectric loss of the 20 wt% glass added specimen was 0.008.

  • The crystal structure of ZnS fabricated by gas-liquid phase reaction was obtained by XRD and refined by RIETAN near R$_{wp}$ factor 10%. The increasement of HCP phase depended on extra H$_2$S gas and the lattice parameter and crystalline size changed by the relative ratio of multiphase. Using ZnS of the different multiphase ratio and crystalline size, sintered ZnS:Cu, Al green phosphor and the CL property resulted optimum luminescence in the range of 91~94% and 150~190$\AA$, respectably, FCC/HCP ratio and crystalline size. As changing of structure ratio, the reason of different luminescence property is now studying. As well as, after XRD pattern of TiO$_2$powder fitted by RIETAN and the structure factor using MEED method simulated about each atom of (002) plane. Additionally, we proposed RIETAN and MEED were the methods of the study of luminescence mechanism for many phosphor materials.s.

Quantitative Evaluation of Non-Carbon Content in the Single Wall Carbon Nanotube Soot using Thermogravimetric Analysis

  • We measured the non-carbon content of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) in SWCNT soot using thermogravimetric analysis. The weight increased percentage by the oxidation of metal in the raw soot is well obtained by TGA graph which was confirmed with ICP-AES, XRD, and XPS. This work will be very useful for the purity precise evaluation of SWCNT with UN-vis-NIR spectroscopy.

Petrographic Study of Mn-bearing Gondite (Birimian) of Téra Area in the Leo-Man Shield (West African Craton) in Niger.

  • The Téra manganese deposit represents the most significant manganese mineralization discovered in Niger up today. The main host rocks of this ore are gondites, which are a garnet and quartz rich metamorphic rocks. The supergene weathering developed an alteration profile on these gondites. This study aims to identify the mineralogical composition of gondites and associated rocks, in order to highlight the origine of rocks and the manganese enrichment. The methodological approach adopted involved a field study followed by polarizing microscopic analysis using transmitted and reflected lights. Additionally, quantitative X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis was performed to assess the manganese ore minerals present in the gondite and associated rocks, including mica schists, amphibolites, and quartzites. The petrographic study revealed a paragenesis characterized by the presence of kyanite, staurolites, garnets and plagioclases that are generally poikiloblasts with quartz and opaque minerals inclusions, emphasizing the internal schistosity which is planar, helicitic or microfolded. These features indicate a prograde metamorphism until high-pressure amphibolite facies conditions. These conditions are followed by greenschist facies conditions marked by calcite, epidote, muscovite, chlorite and muscovite assemblage which emphasizes the vertical tectonics. Depending on the alteration process, the manganese ore exhibit a granular texture at the bottom of the gondite hills, transitioning to a colloform texture towards the top, passing through the epigenization and replacement texture. The XRD analysis further revealed that the studied rocks originated from a volcano-sedimentary complex, characterized by alternating marly, arenaceous and pelitic sequences associated with submarine exhalations.

Effect of Structural and Morphological Changes on the Conductivity of Stretched PANI-DBSA/HIPS Film

  • We studied the effect of structural and morphological changes on the conductivity of a stretched conducting polymer film. To improve the poor processability of polyaniline, we used dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid as both a surfactant and a dopant during emulsion polymerization, followed by blending with high-impact polystyrene. UV-Vis/NIR spectra were obtained to observe conformational changes, and SEM and AFM were used to investigate morphological changes. FT-IR dichroism was applied to determine the microscopic orientation, and XRD patterns were obtained for quantitative crystallinity analysis. The electrical conductivity (${\sigma}_{\parallel}/{\sigma}_{\perp}$) was measured as a function of draw ratio. We found a clear correlation between morphological changes and (${\sigma}_{\parallel}/{\sigma}_{\perp}$), especially at the stretching limit. The conductivity of the films can be modified according to the desired application by controlling their structure and morphology.

개질 수소 정제용 PSA 공정을 위한 CO 흡착제의 성능 평가 (The Evaluation of CO Adsorbents Used in PSA Process for the Purification of Reformed Hydrogen)

  • Natural gas reformed hydrogen is used as a fuel of fuel cell vehicle, PSA process is used for the purification of reformed hydrogen. In this study, the performance of CO adsorbent in PSA process was evaluated. Zeolite adsorbents used in the commercial PSA process is used. The physical and chemical properties of adsorbents were characterized using BET apparatus, XRD, and FE-SEM. The breakthrough apparatus modified from GC was used for the CO breakthrough experiment, the quantitative analysis of CO adsorption capacity was performed using CO breakthrough curve. Zeolite 10X and 13X showed superior CO adsorption capacity than activated alumina. The CO adsorption capacity of zeolite 10X is more than twice of zeolite 13X even the BET surface area is low. It seems that the presence of $Ca^{2+}$ cation in zeolite 10X is beneficial to the adsorption of CO.

황산제일철 용액의 오존 처리에 의한 산화철 합성 (Synthesis of Iron Oxide Using Ferrous Sulfate by Ozone Treatment)

  • The influences of the ozone oxidation, reaction temperature and NaOH equivalent ratio on the iron oxide formation were studied with fixed ferrous sulfate concentration(0.5M $FeSO_4$$7H_2$O). Geothite($\alpha$-FeOOH) and/or Magnetite ($Fe_3$$O_4$) were synthesized depending on the reaction conditions. The characteristics of the synthesized powders were evaluated by XRD, SEM and quantitative phase analysis. The synthetic conditions to get Goethite were quite different from the results of Kiyama's and the Goethite was conveniently synthesized at low temperature and at low NaOH equivalent ratio.

  • 감은사지서삼층석탑의 표면오염물과 세척사례 조사 연구는 부재 표면에서 관찰되는 무기오염물의 성분분석과 오염물 제거 방법을 선정하기 위해 실시하였다. 표면오염물 조사는 육안관찰과 주사전자현미경, XRD를 이용하여 오염물의 상태를 파악하고 정성 정량분석을 통해 비교 분류하였다. 분석결과, 표면오염물은 철화합물이나 황화합물 등 화합물로 존재하며, 결정 형태는 원형, 타원형, 침상, 각형이 주를 이룬다. 오염물을 제거할 수 있는 방법을 검토한 결과, 미립재를 와류형식으로 분사하는 저압와류세척방법이 적당한 것으로 사료된다.

질산불용성 합금의 EPMA분석 (A Study of EPMA Analysis for Nitric Acid Insoluble Alloys)

  • 질산불용성합금의 특성을 갖는 Mo-Ru-Rh-Pd 합금을 만들어 XRD, WDX, EDX, ICP 분석을 하였다. XRD 분석결과 이 합금은 육방밀집(hcp) 구조와 $P6_3/mmc$의 공간군을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. EPMA 분석시 최적 가속전압은 15 kV였으며 Tc을 제외한 Zr~Cd 표준시편의 원자번호와 X-선 세기간의 직선성을 나타내는 R값은 0.998 범위였다. 내삽법에 의한 WDX 분석과 표준시편을 사용한 WDX 분석에서 구한 X-선 계수비를 비교한 결과 Mo, Pd은 표준시편을 사용한 WDX분석에 비해 0.1% 낮게 검출되었고 Ru, Rh은 약 3% 높게 검출되었다. 이 합금은 염산 12.5대 질산 1의 혼합산으로 $220^{\circ}C$, 22시간 용해시켰을 때 완전히 녹았으며 1N-HCl로 100배 희석시 재침전이 없었다. ICP 분석결과는 표준시편을 사용한 WDX분석에 대해 4% 이하의 편차를 보였다.
