  • Quality Control Circle activity is widely introcuced by manufacturing industries. Q.C.C. is studied not only in relation with five points of view such as corporate culture, labor union, organizational management model in Korea, the Theory W and educational revolution etc. but also in social, cultural background, and national trait's view points. The main goal of this study is to investigate sucessful role and active application in Quality Control Circle activity.

국제신체활동 설문도구로 측정한 신체활동도와 건강관련 삶의 질의 관련성 - 제4기 국민건강영양조사 자료를 이용하여 (The Relation of Physical Activity by the IPAQ to Health-related Quality of Life - Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) IV 2007-2008)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to assess the association between physical activity and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in Koreans. Methods: A total of 9,689 adults(${\geq}19$ years, 4,036 men) from the Fourth National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(2007-2008) were examined by the International Physical Activity Questionnaraire (IPAQ)-short form and Korean EuroQol-5 Dimension(KEQ-5D). Results: For the physical activity by IPAQ, 'Inactive group' was 75.3%, 'Minimally active group' was 23.5%, and 'Health-Enhancing Physical Activity(HEPA) group' was 1.2%. The mean HRQOL index was $0.89{\pm}0.13$. These relations of physical activity and HRQOL remained significant after adjustment for age, sex, smoking, subjective health status, stress, depression, and socioeconomic status variables (Adjusted $R^2$ = 0.334). Conclusions: Physical activity was associated with health-related quality of life. Physically active group had higher health-related quality of life than the inactive group.

전화코칭협상을 이용한 신체활동증진 프로그램이 허약노인의 체력과 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of a Physical Activity Promotion Programs with Telecoaching Negotiation on Physical Fitness and Quality of Life in the Frail Elderly)

  • Purpose: This study was to show the effects of a Physical activity promotion program with tele-coaching on physical fitness (grip strength, static and dynamic equilibrium) and quality of life in the frail elderly. Methods: Data were collected from May 30 to October 19, 2008. The subjects were divided into 2 groups, an experimental group (n=27) and a control group (n=26). The experimental group participated in the Physical activity promotion program, and the control group did not participate in any Physical activity promotion program. Results: The results of this study supported the hypothesis that "the experimental group will have higher physical fitness (right grip strength, left grip strength and static equilibrium except dynamic equilibrium) and quality of life than the control group." Conclusion: Physical activity promotion programs with tele-coaching are strongly recommended as health promotion for the frail elderly.

밤 쿠키의 항산화활성 및 품질특성 (Antioxidant Activity and Quality Characteristics of Chestnut Cookies)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of chestnut powder on antioxidant activity and quality characteristics of cookies. Cookies were prepared using different amounts of chestnut powder (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20% to the flour quantity). The antioxidant activity was estimated by measuring DPPH free radical scavenging activity and the total phenolic content in chestnut powder and cookies. In addition, the quality characteristics of the chestnut cookies were estimated based on: the bulk density and pH of the dough, spread factor, loss rate, leavening rate, color, texture profile analysis, and sensory evaluations. The spread ratio, a values, total polyphenol contents, and DPPH free radical scavenging activity of cookies significantly increased with increasing chestnut powder (p<0.001), while the leavening rate, L values, b values and hardness of the cookies significantly decreased with increasing chestnut powder (p<0.05). The sensory evaluation scores for the 15% chestnut powder cookie groups ranked significantly higher (p<0.05) than the other groups in overall preference, appearance, taste, color, chestnut taste, oily flavor, and aftertaste. Taken together, the results of this study suggest that chestnut powder is a good ingredient for increasing the consumer acceptability and functionality of cookies.

유자 요구르트의 항산화능과 품질특성 (Antioxidant Activity and Quality Characteristics of Yogurt Added Yuza(Citrus junos Sieb ex Tanaka) Extract)

  • This study investigated to develop new functional yogurt added domestic yuza(Citrus junos). In order to make the most effective yogurt, yuza extract and fructose were mixed at different proportions. DPPH free radical scavenging activity of yuza yogurts increased dependent on concentration. The results of the DPPH free radical scavenging activity, the 1% yuza yogurt was proven to be the best. The overall sensory score for yogurt made from adding 1% yuza ethanol extract was the best of tested yogurts. The antioxidant activity(DPPH free radical scavenging activity) was the highest in 1% yuza yogurt. The quality characteristics of prepared yogurt were evaluated in terms of acid production(pH and titratable acidity), viscosity, color and levels of lactic acid bacteria during storage period. During storage, the quality of yogurt made from adding yuza extract was better than control(without yuza extract). The sedimentation of curd was repressed a little by adding 1% yuza extract.

황기 추출액이 함유된 된장의 품질 특성 (Quality Characteristics of Doenjang containing Astragalus membranaceus water extracts)

  • The quality characteristics of doenjang which contained Astragalus membranaceus water extracts were investigated in this study. The contents of moisture, crude protein, and crude fat were not significantly different in the doenjang which contained Astragalus membranaceus water extracts. The crude ash content was significantly higher in the doenjang which contained Astragalus membranaceus water extracts. The doenjang which contained Astragalus membranaceus water extracts showed higher a-value. Antioxidative activity was evaluated by using the thiobarbituric acid reaction products assay and peroxide value. Antioxidative activity and hydrogen donating activity were increased in doenjang which contained Astragalus membranaceus water extracts. Doenjang which contained Astragalus membranaceus water extracts showed no differences with traditional doenjang in sensory profiles of taste, color, flavor, and overall quality. These result showed the applicability and higher quality of doenjang which contained Astragalus membranaceus water extracts.

초석잠 분말 첨가 국수의 품질 특성 및 항산화성 (Quality Characteristics and Antioxidant Activity of Noodles added with Chinese Artichoke Powder)

  • This study investigated the quality of noodles containing different amounts of Chinese artichoke powder. Noodles were prepared at ratios of 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% Chinese artichoke power based on flour weight. The weight, volume, and water absorption of cooked noodles significantly decreased with increasing amounts of Chinese artichoke powder. Turbidity of noodles increased according to addition of Chinese artichoke powder. The noodles showed decreased L and b values, and increased a values with increasing Chinese artichoke powder content in the flour composite. Hardness of cooked noodles increased significantly with increase ing Chinese artichoke powder content. Springiness, cohesiveness, and chewiness decreased with increasing amounts of added Chinese artichoke powder. The antioxidant activities (DPPH radical scavenging activity, ABTS radical scavenging activity) and nitrite scavenging activity were improved significantly with addition of Chinese artichoke powder. Finally-, sensory evaluation results indicated that noodles containing 1% Chinese artichoke powder had higher quality as compared to other samples.

요양시설 노인의 건강관련 삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors related to the Health related Quality of Life among Institutionalized Elders)

  • Purpose: This purpose of this study was to identify the factors related to the health related quality of life among institutionalized elders. Methods: The subjects were 247 elders institutionalized among one of the four nursing homes in Busan. Data were collected through interview with four standardized questionnaires from August to October, 2008. Questionnaires were related to health related quality of life (SmithKline Beecham's Quality of Life scale, SBQoL), quality of sleep(Pittsburgh Sleep Quality index, PSQI), activity of daily living (Katz ADL Index), and depression (Geriatric Depression Scale Short Form Korea, GDSSF-K). Data were analyzed for descriptive analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression by using SPSS/WIN 17.0 program. Results: The mean HRQoL in the subjects was $6.62{\pm}0.91$. Percentage of the respondents reporting sleep disorders were 72.5% and 27.1% reported being vulnerable to depression. The significant predictors of the HRQoL were sleep quality, activity of daily living (ADL), level of education, and depression. The factors accounted for 28.8% of variance in the health related quality of life of institutionalized elders. Conclusion: Sleep quality, activity of daily living, and depression need to be considered as the important control factors for improving the health related quality of life in the institutionalized elders.

골관절염 환자의 활동제한이 건강관련 삶의 질과 우울증에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Activity Limitations on the Health-Related Quality of Life and Depression in Osteoarthritis Patients)

  • PURPOSE: The objective of this study was to provide a basis for the need to apply psychological factors-based rehabilitation programs to osteoarthritis patients by understanding how the limitations on the activities of osteoarthritis patients relate to the health-related quality of life and depression. METHODS: This study assessed 1,994 osteoarthritis patients from the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES, 2016-2018). The subjects were divided into two categories: with activity limitation and without activity limitation. A Chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were conducted. RESULTS: The EQ-5D index of subjects with activity limitation was .84 ± .16, it was .94 ± .12 in those with no activity limitation (p < .05). The diagnosis of depression was 16.8% and; 8.3% in those with and without activity limitation, respectively (p < .05). There was a significant difference in the odds ratio for each item in the EQ-5D. Moreover, the odds ratio for depression with an activity limitation was 2.171 (1.512 - 3.118) compared with no activity limitation. CONCLUSION: The activity limitation of osteoarthritis patients reduces the health-related quality of life significantly and increases the probability of depression. Therefore, the treatment of osteoarthritis patients should be approached considering the psychological conditions. Moreover, early diagnosis of depressive symptoms is needed to prevent symptom deterioration and increase the compliance with rehabilitation therapy.
