  • Antagonists of the d -opioid receptor are effective in overcoming resistance against analgesic drugs such as morphine. To identify novel antagonists of the d -opioid receptor that display high potency and low resistance, we performed 3D-QSAR analysis using chemical feature-based pharmacophore models. Chemical features for d -opioid receptor antagonists were generated using quantitative (Catalyst/HypoGen) and qualitative (Catalyst/HipHop) approaches. For HypoGen analysis, we collected 16 peptide and 16 non-peptide antagonists as the training set. The best-fit pharmacophore hypotheses of the two antagonist models comprised identical features, including a hydrophobic aromatic (HAR), a hydrophobic (HY), and a positive ionizable (PI) function. The training set of the HipHop model was constructed with three launched opioid drugs. The best hypothesis from HipHop included four features: an HAR, an HY, a hydrogen bond donor (HBD), and a PI function. Based on these results, we confirm that HY, HAR and PI features are essential for effective antagonism of the d -opioid receptor, and determine the appropriate pharmacophore to design such antagonists.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the analysis on the pattern and proposition process of science inquiry problems proposed by elementary school general students and science-gifted ones. The science inquiry problems were composed of one quantitative problem and one qualitative problem. To conduct this study, general students and science-gifted ones of grade 4 and 5 in elementary schools were selected. The results of this study were as follows. In both quantitative and qualitative problem, most of the students, including all the sciencegifted students and general ones, used N-IP pattern and S2 proposition process strategy to propose inquiry problems. In the relationship between proposed problem and proposition process strategy, when using S2 strategy, N-IP problems were chiefly proposed. And when using S2, S3 strategies, more patterns of inquiry problems were generated than using any other strategies. Drawing proposition processes of inquiry problem into map, science-gifted students used much more proposition process strategies than general ones.

  • With the development of synthetic dyes, excellent dyeing properties and massive production became possible. On the other hand, natural dyeing technology has gradually disappeared. However, the international environmental and human safety requirements of the apparel and textile industry are increasing, and there is a growing interest in safer and more environmentally friendly products. Accordingly, the public's interest in natural dyeing is increasing. To meet these demands, it is first necessary to clarify the stages of production and distribution of natural dyes. It is necessary to evaluate whether the product is a natural dye product and study the suitability of the natural dye product through qualitative and quantitative assessment of the indicator components of the natural dye. Typical of three natural dyes did qualitative and quantitative analysis by HPLC-DAD and HPLC-MS. Products dyed using natural dye three products were analyzed, and the presence or absence of detection of each indicator components was confirmed to confirm whether the product was dyed using natural dyes.

  • This study aims to investigate an approach to teach proportional reasoning in elementary mathematics class by analyzing the proportional strategies the students use to solve the proportional reasoning tasks and their percentages of correct answers. For this research 174 sixth graders are examined. The instrument test consists of various questions types in reference to the previous study; the proportional reasoning tasks are divided into algebraic-geometric, quantitative-qualitative and missing value-comparisons tasks. Comparing the percentages of correct answers according to the task types, the algebraic tasks are higher than the geometric tasks, quantitative tasks are higher than the qualitative tasks, and missing value tasks are higher than the comparisons tasks. As to the strategies that students employed, the percentage of using the informal strategy such as factor strategy and unit rate strategy is relatively higher than that of using the formal strategy, even after learning the cross product strategy. As an insightful approach for teaching proportional reasoning, based on the study results, it is suggested to teach the informal strategy explicitly instead of the informal strategy, reinforce the qualitative reasoning while combining the qualitative with the quantitative reasoning, and balance the various task types in the mathematics classroom.

  • The importance of environment has been increased recently, and it has affected architectural area especially no less than any other area. This study performed POE on the housing sectors, which have been approved as ‘The Environment-Friendly Housing Certification (KOEAM 2000)’, to evaluate the recognition and value of the residents. The study employed survey method and the items of questionnaire are based on the detailed criteria of the ‘The Environment-Friendly Housing Certification (KOEAM 2000)’. Through the analysis of investigated substance, this study compared the differences between the quantitative satisfaction and the qualitative satisfaction of the residents, and investigated the differences between the degree of satisfaction and the degree of importance, and the preference to the evaluation criteria. As a result, it is deduced that the qualitative aspects rather than the quantitative aspects affects the satisfaction of residents more in some criteria. It is also investigated that the awareness and requirements level of residents varies according to the demographics, and the differences between the evaluation criteria of the residents and the certification system is also deduced. Through this analysis, this study tried to find the supplemental points of the certification system which pursue the sustainable development and accommodate the requirements of residents.
