대퇴네갈래근에 테이핑요법 적용이 근력과 근피로에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of a Kinesio Taping on Muscle power and Muscular fatigue in Quadriceps Femoris)

  • Background: This study examines the changes in muscular strength and muscle fatigue substances when taping treatment is applied in squat exercise and treadmill exercise, in which quadriceps femoris muscles are used frequently so as to clarify the effects of taping as an aid of exercise ability improvement. Methods: 20 healthy male adults in their 20's participated in the study, in which tapes were put on their quadriceps femoris muscles, and various variables as the indicator of muscular strength and muscle fatigue substances were measured by means of the measuring tool before and after exercises. Results: the following conclusion was drawn up: 1. In exercise using muscular strength of the right knee extension, the reduction of muscular strength after exercise of the taping group showed significant statistical difference from that of the non-taping group. 2. In exercise using muscular strength of the lower limbs, the reduction of blood Glaucos after exercise of the taping group showed significant statistical difference from that of the non-taping group. 3. In exercise using muscular strength of the lower limbs, the value of lactic acid after exercise of the taping group showed significant statistical difference from that of the non-taping group. Conclusion: Therefore, the results of this study demonstrate that the application of taping treatment in sports activity or daily life where quadriceps femoris muscles are used a lot can have positive effects on the improvement of muscular strength and relief of muscle fatigue.

앉은 자세에서 일어서기 동작 시 발목관절과 엉덩관절 각도 변화에 따른 넙다리네갈래근 근활성도 변화 (Changes in Muscle Acvity of the Quadriceps Femoris with Changes in the Ankle and Hip Joint Angles During a Sit-to-Stand Movement)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to confirm changes in the muscle activity of the quadriceps femoris with changes in the ankle and hip joint angles during the transition from sitting to standing. Method : Twenty-five healthy 20-30-year-old women participated in the study. The subjects performed standing-up movements in four positions: standard posture (hip = $90^{\circ}$/ankle = $0^{\circ}$); posture on a decline board (hip > $90^{\circ}$/ankle < $0^{\circ}$), posture on a footboard (hip > $90^{\circ}$/ankle = $0^{\circ}$); and posture on a decline board with a higher chair (hip = $90^{\circ}$/ankle < $0^{\circ}$). Then, the muscle activities of the rectus femoris, vastus medialis and vastus lateralis were measured using surface electromyography. Result : The muscle activities of the rectus femoris, vastus medialis and vastus lateralis in the footboard application were statistically significantly higher than in the application of the decline board with a higher chair. Conclusion : This study confirms that the flexion of the hip joint has a greater effect than the plantar flexion of the ankle joint on the muscle activity of the quadriceps during a sit-to-stand movement.

내측광근의 신경근전기자극(NMES)이 퇴행성 슬관절염 환자의 통증 및 근 기능에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation of the Vastus Medialis on Pain and Muscle Function in Patients with Knee Osteoarthritis)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 퇴행성 슬관절염 환자의 신경근전기자극의 적용이 내측광근의 기능적 변화에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해서이다. 퇴행성 슬관절염으로 진단받은 여성 30명을 대상으로 보존적 물리치료를 적용한 대조군 15명과 신경근전기자극치료를 병행한 실험군 15명을 임의 배치하여 주 5회, 총 4주간의 치료후, 실험 전 후의 통증, 대퇴사두근력, 대퇴둘레, 그리고 대퇴각도의 변화를 측정하였다. 실험군에서 대퇴사두근력과 대퇴둘레를 측정한 결과 유의한 증가를 나타내었고, 통증의 측정결과에서는 실험군과 대조군 모두 유의한 감소를 나타내었다. 군 간의 비교에서는 대퇴사두근력과 대퇴둘레에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 결과적으로 신경근전기자극을 이용한 내측광근의 선택적 강화가 슬관절염 환자의 통증 감소 및 슬관절의 근 기능을 향상시키는데 효과가 있었음을 확인할 수 있었다.

하지거상운동과 대퇴사두근 등척성운동시 대퇴사두근의 활동전위 (The Effects of Straight Leg Raising Exercise and Quadriceps Setting Exercise on Electromyographic Activity of the Quadriceps Muscle)

  • The purposes of this study were to compare the electromyographic activities from the rectus femoris, vastus medialis oblique portion, vastus medialis longitudinal portion, and vastus lateralis during straight leg raising (SLR) and quadriceps setting (QS) exercise and to determine which exercise is more effective to selectively strengthen the vastus medialis. Thirty two healthy subjects <19 men, 13 women) participated in the study. All participants performed SLR and QS exercises while electromyographic activity was recorded from EMG surface electrodes. Statistical analysis demonstrated significantly greater values for the vastus medialis oblique portion, vastus medialis longitudinal portion, and vastus lateralis activities during QS exercise than for those during SLR exercise. However, the rectus femoris muscle activity between SLR and QS exercises was not significantly different. The ratios of vastus lateralis to vastus medialis during SLR and QS exercise were not significantly different. These results show that QS exercise is more effective for strengthening the quadriceps muscle on the whole than the SLR exercise. As for selective methods of strengthening vastus medialis specifically, both SLR and QS exercises are useful.

Difference in Muscle Activities According to Stability on Support Surface During Plank Exercise

  • PURPOSE: The present study aimed to measure muscle activities in the pectoralis major, the erector spinae, and the quadriceps femoris according to support surface states of arms and legs during plank exercise. METHODS: The subjects of this study were 21 healthy males in their 20s and their muscle activities at three states were measured as follows: The first state was where the support surface of arms and legs was stable. The second state was where only arms were unstable, and the third state was where only legs were unstable. Electromyography (EMG) was used to measure muscle activities. Pectoralis major, quadriceps femoris, and elector spinae were measured for muscle activities. RESULTS: The muscle activities in the pectoralis major were statistically high when arms were unstable. The muscle activities in the quadriceps femoris were statistically high when legs were unstable. The muscle activities in the erector spinae were higher when arms and legs were unstable compared to that at the stable support surface. No significant difference was revealed statistically when arms and legs were unstable. CONCLUSION: If the instability of arms and legs is employed during plank exercise, exercise on the upper and lower bodies or the erector spinae is expected to be more effective.

세라밴드를 이용한 운동프로그램이 노인의 근력, 균형, 고유수용성감각에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Theraband Exercise Programs on Strength, Balance and Proprioception in Elderly)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to recognize the importance of balance in order to minimize daily living restrictions and to prevent falls due to aging, and develop an eight-week theraband exercise program to benefit the elderly. Method: A total of 20 elderly participants were divided into two groups. Group A used warm-up and finishing exercises for eight weeks including stretching and rhythm exercises conducted in a theraband exercise. Group B performed no exercises. Both A and B groups at weeks 1, weeks 4, weeks 8 were measured for deltoid and quadriceps femoris strength, balance and proprioception. Result: There was a significant difference in deltoid and quadriceps femoris muscle strength, balance and proprioception between Group A and Group B(p<0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study show that theraband exercises are thought to be able to contribute to the promotion of deltoid and quadriceps femoris muscle strength, balance and proprioception. It also contributes to minimize activity of daily living restrictions and prevent fall down in elderly. However in this study, generalization has been limited because of exercise duration, limited number of experiments and intensity modulated of theraband.

대퇴사두근의 등척성 운동과 전기자극에 의한 근력 증가 비교 (The Comparison of Quadriceps Femoris Muscle Strength by Isometric Exercise and Electrical Stimulation in Healthy Subjects)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of both neuromuscular electrical stimulation(NMES) and isometrical exercise(IE) to strengthen the quadriceps femoris muscle. The relationships between the strength changes and the relative force and duration of training contractions were also studied. Methods : The subjects were divided into three group. The control group(n=6) received no exercise and/or stimulation. The isometric exercise (IE) group(n=6) performed maximum isometric contractions, and the neuromuscular electrical stimulation(NMES)(n=6) engaged electrically stimulated isometric contractions, three days a week for four weeks. Results : Results showed that both IE group and NMES group were found to have an increase in strength significantly greater(p<0.05) than the control group at 4 week. But between IE group and NMES group were not found to have an difference in strength significantly. Conclusion : The relative increase in isometric strength, using IE and NMES, may be determined by the ability of the subjects to tolerate longer and more forceful contractions. Suggestions for further research and implications for the clinical of IE and NMES for strength-training are discussed.

런지 운동 시 뒤넙다리근의 단축이 넙다리 근육 활성도에 미치는 영향 (The influence of hamstring shortness on thigh-muscles during lunge exercises)

  • Background: Hamstring shortness results in the inappropriate activation of the quadriceps femoris because of the loss of the reciprocal inhibition mechanism. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of that activation during lunge exercises on the vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, medial, and lateral hamstrings in participants with hamstring shortness and normal length. Design: Quasi-experimental design Methods: Participants were divided into a hamstring shortness group(n=20) and a hamstring normal length group(n=23), based on a hamstring length test. During lunge exercises, muscle activation of the vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, medial, and lateral hamstrings were measured by electromyography. Results: Each muscle tested was less activated in the hamstring shortness group than in the hamstring normal length group. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the groups (p>.05). Conclusion: Although there was no significant difference between the shortness and normal hamstring groups during short lunge exercise time, longer exercising periods will result in the inappropriate activation of the quadriceps femoris. During lunge exercise, hamstring shortness causes an imbalance activation of quadriceps femoris and hamstring, and continuous hamstring shortness can cause damage on joints of lower limb.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compared the muscle activities of vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, rectus femoris in open kinetic chain and closed kinetic chain. Methods: Subjects of the study were 30 adults students. They were divided into 2 group, one for open kinetic chain and other for closed kinetic chain of extension, flexion, the maximum extension for vastus medialis, vastus latarealis, rectus femoris muscle activation. Results: Rectus femoris increased open kinetic chain group about all posture and vastus medialis increased open kinetic chain group about the maximum extension and flexion. and vastus lateralis increased open kinetic chain group about the maximum extension and flexion. Conclusion: Muscle activation are at the highest with the open kinetic chain in vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, rectus femoris. probably steady exercise thinked for open kinetic chain and closed kinetic chain.

한냉이 흰쥐 대퇴사두근의 허혈 - 재관류 후 SOD 발현에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Cold Application on Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury to Quadriceps Femoris Muscle of the Rats)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of cold application on ischemia-reperfusion injury to quadriceps fomoris muscle of the hindlimbs of the rats. Nine weeks old male Sprague-Dawley white rats were divided into three groups : 1) control(only ischemia-reperfusion), 2) cold application before reperfusion(PreCold), 3) cold application after reperfusion(PostCold). All groups were 30 minute, 1 hour, 3 hours reperfusion after 2 hours ischemia with clamping abdominal artery, and investigate superoxide dismutase(SOD) immunohistochemical reaction for quadriceps femoris muscle of right hindlimb. SOD immunohistochemical reaction of experimental groups were more than the control group. Especially, SOD immunohistochemical reaction of PreCold were less than the PostCold.
