안전위도(EOG)에 의한 입체영상의 평가 (The estimation of 3D image using EOG)

  • In this research, and investigation of the eye movement was performend when the objects perceived by the eye are three-dimensional objects, two dimensional images, and trhee dimensional images. This investigation was done by observing the EQG(Electro- oculogram) waves which were obtained from experiments. The observed waves were categorized into several groups. Differences among the waves were analyzed for each object and image perceived by the eye. In order to obtain waves for analysis, two kinds of experiments were performen. In each experiment, the saccadic eye movement and the smooth pursuit eye movement were considered as an independent variables. Waves obtained from the experiments were categorized into 4 types (Wave-1, Wave-2, Wave-3, Wave-4) depending on their characteristics. Unlike the other images, three dimensional image was revealed as a key factor for the active movement of the eye. Futhermore, a unique eye movement was observed in the case of three dimensional images where the focus of the eye was achieved through three steps.

휴대용 디바이스를 이용한 완곡추적 안구운동이 만성 편측무시에 미치는 영향: 예비연구 (The Effect of Smooth Pursuit Eye Movement Using Portable Device to Chronic Hemispatial Neglect: A Pilot Study)

  • 목적 : 본 연구의 목적은 만성 편측무시 환자에게 휴대용 디바이스를 이용한 완곡추적 안구운동을 30분간 적용하였을 때 편측무시에 미치는 효과를 알아보는 것이다. 연구방법 : 만성적으로 편측무시를 보이는 한 명의 환자를 대상으로 8.4인치 화면의 휴대용 디바이스를 이용하여 완곡추적 안구운동을 실시하였다. 실험기간은 총 4주로 1주간의 기초선 측정과 2주간의 완곡추적 안구운동 중재, 1주간의 기초선 측정으로 이루어졌으며, 중재는 2주 동안 1일 1회, 주 5회, 회기당 30분씩 적용하였다. 편측무시는 선이분검사와 별지우기검사를 통해 매 회기 측정하였다. 완곡추적 안구운동은 시각적으로 영향을 줄 수 있는 주변의 환경을 줄이고 바른 자세로 앉아 정면에 있는 8.4인치 태블릿pc의 영상을 바라보는 것이다. 영상은 완곡추적 안구운동을 유발하기 위한 영상으로 24개의 노란색 직사각형이 끊임없이 화면 오른쪽에서 왼쪽으로 움직이는 영상이며, 영상을 보는 동안 고개의 움직임 없이 도형을 따라 안구운동을 하도록 하였다. 결과 : 2주 동안의 시운동자극 적용 결과 기초선A와 비교하여 편측무시가 감소되는 경향을 보였지만, 중재기 이후 기초선A'에서 편측무시 양상이 다시 증가하는 결과를 보였다. 결론 : 본 연구를 통해 휴대용 디바이스를 이용한 30분간의 완곡 추적 안구운동이 만성편측무시를 감소시키는데 효과가 있는 것으로 확인되었다.

Immediate Effect of Eye Movement on Static Balance according to Age in Elderly Individuals

  • Purpose: This study investigated changes in static balance during eye movement while in an upright standing position and compared static balance in elderly individuals according to age. Methods: A total of 154 elderly persons (male 23, female 136) were enrolled in the study. Participants followed an eye movement program that consisted of randomly occurring pursuit eye movement and saccadic eye movement. Participants were asked to remain in the double-leg standing position for 2 minutes 30 second while fixating their eyes on a specific target, after which they were instructed to perform eye movements for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Static balance was measured in terms of the area, length, and average speed (cm/s) of the center of pressure (COP) displacement before and after eye movement intervention with the eyes open. Results: The area, length, and velocity of COP displacement improved significantly (p< 0.01) after intervention. No significant differences among age groups were observed. Conclusion: The results indicated that eye movement was an effective intervention for improving static balance in elderly persons.

선택적 안구운동 프로그램이 정상성인의 족저압과 균형에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Selective Eye Movement Program on the Foot Pressure and Balance in Normal Adults)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to identify static, dynamic balance performances and foot pressure after eye movement exercise in normal adults. Method : This study was performed on normal 18 males and 18 females subjects. They were divided into 3 groups using random sampling and executed saccadic eye movement, vestibuloocular eye movement, pursuit vergence eye movement exercise respectively. In order to compare the difference of balance and foot pressure, the subjects were measured before, middle and after eye movement. Balance was examined using the balance master 7.0 version systems. Foot pressure was examined using the gaitview AFA-50. Result : The result are as follows. 1. After first intervention, the difference of the FORM-EC item on MCTSIB variable in the vestibuloocular group was significantly decreased(p<.05) and after second intervention, the difference of the FIRM-EO(p<.05), FORM-EO(p<.01), FORM-EC(p<.01) items on MCTSIB variable in the saccadic group and FORM-EC(p<.05) item in the vestibuloocular group were significantly decreased respectively. 2. After first intervention, the difference of the EPE, MXE items in the saccadic group(p<.05) and RT(p<.05), EPE(p<.01) items in the pursuit vergence group were significantly decreased respectively after second intervention. 3. After first intervention, the difference of the Static A-P(p<.05), L-R(p<.01) and Dynamic A-P(p<.01), L-R (p<.01) items on foot pressure variable in the saccadic group, Dynamic A-P(p<.01) item in the vestibuloocular group and Static A-P(p<.01), Dynamic A-P(p<.05), L-R(p<.01) items in the pursuit vergence group were significantly decreased respectively. 4. After first intervention, the difference of the FORM-EO(p<.05), FORM-EC(p<.01) items and after second intervention, the difference of the FIRM-EO(p<.01) item on MCTSIB variable among three groups was significantly decreased respectively. Conclusion : Selective eye movement exercise program influences balance control ability and foot pressure of normal adults in positive ways.

상대적인 위치지각의 왜곡: 참조자극의 위치가 왜곡에 미치는 영향 (Relative localization errors: The effect of reference location on the errors)

  • 추적 눈 운동 동안에 순간적으로 노출되는 표적의 위치는 표적 주위에 참조자극이 존재하지 않을 때에 일반적으로 눈 운동 방향으로 왜곡되어 지각된다. 본 연구는 안정적이고 정적인 참조자극이 존재하는 경우에 순간적으로 노출되는 표적의 참조자극에 대한 상대적인 위치가 얼마나 정확하게 지각되는지를 검증하였다. 참조자극에 대한 표적의 상대적인 위치가 왜곡되게 지각되었으며 상대적인 위치 지각 왜곡의 양상이 참조자극과 표적의 상대적인 위치에 따라서 체계적으로 변화하였다. 동일한 실험결과가 추적 눈 운동의 방향이 상이하거나 참조자극과 표적의 다양한 물리적인 거리 조건에서도 일관되게 관찰되었다. 본 연구의 실험결과가 위치지각에 관하여 제안된 기존의 이론에 의해 어떻게 설명될 수 있는지를 논의하였다.

반향 눈 운동에 의한 3차원 경사의 왜곡된 지각 (Distorted perception of 3D slant caused by disjunctive-eye-movements)

  • 추적 눈 운동에 의해 망막에서의 상이 역동적으로 변화함에도 불구하고 우리는 외부세계의 공간속성을 대부분 안정적으로 지각한다. Helmholtz를 비롯한 많은 연구자들은 우리의 시각체계가 망막에서의 상의 움직임과 눈 운동정보를 동시에 고려하여 외부세계의 공간속성을 지각한다고 믿어 왔다. Helmholtz가 제안한 체계가 완벽하게 작용하지 않음을 나타내는 증거들을 여러 연구들이 제시하여 왔지만, 대부분의 연구는 두 눈이 같은 방향으로 움직이는 상황에 국한되었다. 본 연구는 관찰자로부터 멀어지거나 가까워지는 대상을 두 눈으로 추적하는 경우에서처럼 두 눈이 각기 반대 방향으로 움직이는 상황에 의해 유발되는 양안부등이 시각체계에 의해 교정되는지를 검증하였으며, 피험자들은 반향 눈 운동 동안에 시공간적인 중침패턴에 의해 정의되는 대상의 경사를 2AFC과제를 이용하여 보고하였다. 실제 제시되는 대상이 피험자와 평행하게 경사 없이 놓여 있음에도 불구하고 반향 눈 운동에 의해 망막에 생성되는 양안부등과 일치하는 방향으로 피험자들은 대상의 경사를 왜곡하여 지각하였다. 이러한 실험결과는 우리의 시각체계가 반향 눈 운동에 의해 유발되는 양안부등을 적절히 교정하지 못함을 의미한다.

이상운동질환에서의 안구운동장애 (Abnormal Ocular Motilities in Movement Disorders)

  • Neuro-ophthalmological findings are common and occasionally prominent features in movement disorders. Accordingly, careful evaluation of the ocular motor functions may provide valuable information in early detection of the diseases and monitoring of the progression. Furthermore, accurate assessment of the abnormal ocular motor findings aids in understanding the pathophysiology and mechanisms of the movement disorders, and in their differential diagnosis. Ocular motility examination should include bedside evaluation and laboratory recording of the fixational abnormalities, saccades, smooth pursuit, the vestibulo-ocular reflex, optokinetic nystagmus, and vergence eye movements. In this review, we will discuss various ocular motor findings in ataxia and parkinsonian syndromes, and hyperkinetic movement disorders.

한국인 정신분열병 환자의 안구추적운동 이상과 COMT 유전자의 Val108/158Met 다형성의 연합 연구 (No Association between Val108/158Met Polymorphism on Catechol-O-Methyl Transferase(COMT) Gene and Smooth Pursuit Eye Movement(SPEM) Abnormality in Korean Schizophrenia Patients)

  • Objectives : We investigated the association of Val108/158Met polymorphism on catechol-O-methyl transferase(COMT) gene with smooth pursuit eye movement(SPEM) abnormality in Korean schizophrenia patients. Methods : We measured SPEM in 217 Korean schizophrenia patients(male 116, female 101) and divided them into two groups, one was a good SPEM function group and the other was a poor SPEM function group. Then we analyzed Val108/158Met polymorphism on COMT gene. We compared the differences of genotype and allele distributions of the polymorphism on COMT gene between the two groups. Results : The natural logarithm value of signal/noise ratio(Ln S/N ratio) of the good SPEM function group was $4.39{\pm}0.33$(mean${\pm}$s.d.) and that of poor SPEM function group was $3.17{\pm}0.71$. There were no statistically significant differences of age and male/female ratio between the two groups. There were no significant differences of genotype or allele distributions of the Val108/158Met polymorphism on COMT gene between the two schizophrenic groups. Conclusions : The results suggest that Val108/158Met polymorphism on COMT gene is not related to SPEM function abnormality in schizophrenia.

치매 환자에서 나타나는 비정상적인 안구운동 (Abnormal Eye Movements in Patients with Dementia)

  • 지난 여러 해 동안 치매에서 나타나는 안구운동기능부전에 대해 수많은 논문이 발표되었다. 안구운동검사는 뇌의 기능을 평가하는 비침습적인 검사이며, 치매와 연관된 뇌의 이상을 밝혀내는데 유용한 방법이다. 저자는 치매와 연관된 안구운동이상에 대한 지금까지의 여러 연구들을 고찰해 보았다. 알쯔하이머병에서는 신속안구운동의 잠재기가 증가하고 정확도가 감소하며 항신속안구운동의 오류가 증가 한다. 전측두엽 치매 환자에서는 반사성 신속안구운동 억제의 장애와 항신속안구운동 잠재기와 오류 증가 소견이 나타난다. 그리고 헌팅톤병에서는 수의적인 신속안구운동의 시작 지연, 느린 신속안구운동, 항신속안구운동의 오류와 잠재기 증가 소견이 나타난다. 파킨슨병 치매와 루이체 치매 환자에서는 반사성 신속안구운동과 복합성 신속안구운동 실행 장애가 보고되었다. 크로이츠펠트-야콥 병에 관한 연구는 많지 않으며, 안구운동장애는 치매 증상이 명확해진 이후인 질병의 말기에 나타나고, 이차적으로 소뇌와 전정기관을 침범하게 된다고 한다. 진행성 핵상마비에서는 느린 신속안구운동과 측정저하 신속안구운동이 수직방향주시 장애가 오기 이전에 나타나는 경우가 많다. 수의적인 눈꺼풀 운동의 기능부전도 진행성 핵상마비의 특징적인 증상이다. 결론적으로 치매 환자들은 다양한 비정상적인 안구운동장애를 나타내며 이는 피질, 피질하 기능부전과 연관되어 있다. 치매 환자의 안구운동장애에 대한 다음 단계 연구는 치매에서 나타나는 임상적인 증상이 뇌의 어떤 부위 이상 때문에 발생하는지를 좀 더 명확하게 밝히는 것이 될 것이다.

  • Objectives According to previous studies, the Chromogranin B (CHGB) gene could be an important candidate gene for schizophrenia which is located on chromosome 20p12.3. Some studies have linked the polymorphism in CHGB gene with the risk of schizophrenia. Meanwhile, smooth pursuit eye movement (SPEM) abnormality has been regarded as one of the most consistent endophenotype of schizophrenia. In this study, we investigated the association between the polymorphisms in CHGB gene and SPEM abnormality in Korean patients with schizophrenia. Methods We measured SPEM function in 24 Korean patients with schizophrenia (16 male, 8 female) and they were divided according to SPEM function into two groups, good and poor SPEM function groups. We also investigated genotypes of polymorphisms in CHGB gene in each group. A logistic regression analysis was performed to find the association between SPEM abnormality and the number of polymorphism. Results The natural logarithm value of signal/noise ratio (Ln S/N ratio) of good SPEM function group was $4.19{\pm}0.19$ and that of poor SPEM function group was $3.17{\pm}0.65$. In total, 15 single nucleotide polymorphisms of CHGB were identified and the genotypes were divided into C/C, C/R, and R/R. Statistical analysis revealed that two genetic variants (rs16991480, rs76791154) were associated with SPEM abnormality in schizophrenia (p = 0.004).
