This study focuses on how positive emotions form when consumers impulsively purchase fashion products. Examined are the novelty seeking situations and the fashion knowledge of consumers as influential factors that affect positive impulsive shopping emotions along with the mediating role of the perceived risk of consumers for purchase and non-purchase. An online survey was conducted for the empirical research with a questionnaire about the fashion impulsive purchases of a product within the last 2 months. A total of 555 surveys were collected from impulsive female buyers and 404 complete responses were analyzed. The results find that the perceived risk is identified into purchase and non-purchase perspectives. Purchase perceived risk influenced negatively on positive emotions of impulsive purchase and non-purchase perceived risk positively. The perceived risk for non-purchase versus purchase increased by the more fashion knowledge consumers had and the more they shopped as novelty seeking. The results imply that non-purchase perceived risk importantly mediated between the influential factors and positive affect for impulsive purchase. Based on the findings, this study proposed some marketing suggestions and thoughts about effective purchase stimulation.

The number of Chinese tourists visiting Korea has rapidly increased over the last decade. It is important to understand Chinese consumption patterns and shopping behavior because they have become major customers in the Korean fashion market. This study focuses on how Chinese tourists feel while shopping in Korea and how emotions influence their attitude towards purchased products. We examine how planned purchase and unplanned purchase impact shopping emotions and product usage satisfaction. A survey was conducted on 550 women between 20 and 60 years of age who have visited Seoul more than once with an online panel from an international survey firm. Data are analyzed using structural equation modeling by AMOS 20.0. Respondents were asked to recall most impressive fashion product that they bought in Korea during their recent visit and to answer if it was a planned or unplanned purchase. This study also measures emotions during product purchases and usage satisfaction. The respondents are categorized into heavy and light buyers according to purchasing power to determine the moderating effects of purchase amount. The results indicate that planned purchases tend to deliver positive emotions that enhance product usage satisfaction. In the case of unplanned purchases, without the mediating role of positive shopping emotions, it has a negative impact on product attitude and shows the importance of positive emotions during shopping. The influence of unplanned purchases on shopping emotions or product attitude in light buyers is not significant for the moderating effect of purchasing power. Only planned purchases trigger product usage satisfaction when it is mediated by positive emotions.

The issue related to which value consumers have when they're shopping and which effect this shopping value has on the process of consumer satisfaction formation, would be helpful to understand the post-purchase behavior as well as the process of pre-purchase decision making. Therefore, the objective of this study was to clarify differences in the process of satisfaction formation in relation to the type of shopping value. The study was conducted in three steps. Through the two steps, measurement instruments were developed. At the last step, judgement sampling method were utilized to collect the data and subjects were 614 university students. Factor analysis, cluster analysis, frequencies, t-test, and structural equation model analysis were used to analyze the data. Two groups regarding shopping value were found, which included consumers with hedonic shopping value and consumers with utilitarian shopping value. Overall, the results revealed a similar tendency in the process of satisfaction formation between two groups. But the tendency, which expressive product performance was related to the positive consumption emotion more than instrumental product performance was and instrumental product performance was related to the negative consumption emotion more than expressive product performance was, was clearer in consumers with utilitarian shopping value than in those with hedonic shopping value. In consumers with utilitarian shopping value, expressive product performance has a greater effect on satisfaction than instrumental product performance did, but in consumers with utilitarian shopping value, expressive product performance showed a similar effect on satisfaction with instrumental product performance. Understanding of the post-purchase behavior of the consumers with hedonic shopping value and the consumers with utilitarian shopping value and practical administration of the differences of the two groups would contribute to build useful marketing strategies.

This research, which was experimented by dividing tangible and intangible products, established the influence that affects recovery for consumers' complaint behavior and behavioral intention as per each different compensation program. In Experiment 1, the consumers, who experienced complaint behavior owing to company's mistake, have preferably recovered through the compensation program offered by the company. However, there was a significant difference in preference recovery between products that caused complaint behavior. According to the study result, the more clear preference recovery was shown in the case of purchasing laptop than the case of dining in family restaurant. Additionally, the consumers' emotion recovery was possible through compensation.; There was a emotion recovery disparity depending on product type between purchasing laptop case and dining in family restaurant case. The consumers, who experienced complaints, were only able to recover their preference, emotion, and behavioral intention through compensation of which recovery was greater in tangible product case than ordinary service. Meanwhile, there was no distinct difference between recovery compensation types even though the products were identical-type ones whereas it appeared that such tangible product which showed greater purchasing effort as laptop computer was more effective in stimulating emotion response. In Experiment 2, the purpose was to find out the difference between complaint behavior and its recovery process shown after purchase by Korean and Japanese college students, who have different consumer purchasing habits. The both consumers of the two countries, who experienced complaint behavior, demonstrated precise difference in preference recovery while the emotion and behavioral intention exhibited no disparity between the two consumer groups. In this experiment, it was learned that Korean college students were show-off purchase type consumers while on the other hand, the Japanese college students were famous product purchase type consumers. Thus, there was a clear difference in laptop computer purchase process and post-purchase evaluation between these two groups. In particular, the Korean college students had quicker preference recovery through compensation than the Japanese college students on account of their tendency to be consciousness of others. Nevertheless, there was no difference between the emotion recovery and re-purchase recovery and therefore, the compensation program for complaints was proven to affect the emotion and behavioral intention.
