Off-design Performance Prediction of Centrifugal Pumps by Using TEIS model and Two-zone model (TEIS 모델과 두 영역 모델을 이용한 원심 펌프의 탈 설계 성능 예측)

  • In this study. an off-design performance prediction program for centrifugal pumps is developed. To estimate the losses in an impeller flow passage, two-zone model and two-element in series(TEIS) model are used. At impeller exit. the mixing process occurs with an increase in entropy. In two-zone model. there are both primary zone and secondary zone for an isentropic core flow and an average of all non-isentropic streamtubes respectively. The level of the core flow diffusion in an impeller was calculated by using TEIS model. While internal losses in an impeller an automatically estimated by using the above models, some empirical correlations far estimating external losses. far example, disk friction loss, recirculation loss and leakage loss are used. In order to analyze the vaneless diffuser flow. the momentum equations for the radial and tangential directions are used and solved together with continuity and energy equations.

  • Recently, the Electro-Hydrostatic Actuator(EHA) has been developed as a result of research on energy saving. EHA is usually composed of a direct driven pump from an electric motor and is available to control cylinder displacement or velocity with high efficiency. In addition, it has the advantage of compactness, minimum leakage and availability of decentralized control. In this study, an EHA system was designed to decrease the path tracking error and manufactured for test. The linearization method provided in AMESim software was used to derive the model of EHA system. The derived model was applied to design the PI-D controller to effectively overcome the disturbance. The effectiveness of this controller was verified by further testing.

Vibration Analysis for Partially Immersed Shell Structure in Water with Gap from Bottom (부분적으로 물에 잠겨있는 Shell 구조물의 바닥면과 거리변화에 따른 진동해석 연구)

  • The free flexural vibration of a hanged clamped-free cylindrical shell partially submerged in water with gap from bottom is investigated. The fluid is assumed to be inviscid and irrotational. The cylindrical shell is modeled by using the Rayleigh-Ritz method based on the Sanders shell theory. The kinetic energy of the fluid is derived by solving the boundary-value problem related to the fluid motion. The natural vibration characteristics of the partially submerged cylindrical shell are discussed with respect to the added virtual mass approach. In this study, experiments were carried out to confirm theoretical results. It was found that theoretical prediction is in good agreement with experimental results.

Analysis of instantaneous friction in full-circumferentially grooved engine main bearings (원주방향 윤활홈을 갖는 엔진 주베어링의 연속 마찰 해석)

  • The instantaneous friction in main bearings of a single cylinder diesel engine was determined by measuring the instantaneous angular velocity, calculating the resulting forces acting on the bearings, and solving the unsteady Reynolds equation in combination with the mobility method. The considered system consists of only the crankshaft with flywheel and oil pump. The thermal effects were not considered because of the short testing time. The tests were conducted using an electric start motor. The results indicated that when the bearing is not near equilibrium for very small speeds, simple film lubrication theories are not accurate. The details of grooves and unsteady terms in the Reynolds equation cannot be ignored for increasing efficiency of instantaneous friction calculation of the engine bearings. The effects of speed on instantaneous friction and energy lost in friction were determined.

  • 본 연구에서는 외기온습도에 따른 히트펌프 칠러의 난방성능을 조사하고자 하였다. 난방표준 온도조건에서 건구온도 및 습구온도 변화에 따른 히트펌프 칠러의 난방능력과 COP를 획득하기 위하여 항온항습 챔버와 항온수조를 사용하였다. 실험은 건구온도 $7^{\circ}C{\sim}17^{\circ}C$, 상대습도 67%~87%에서 수행하였다. 외기온도가 증가함에 따라 난방능력은 약 27%, COP는 약 28% 증가하였지만, 상대습도 증가에 따른 난방능력과 COP의 변화는 거의 없었다. 따라서 난방운전 시 건구온도의 영향은 크고, 상대습도의 영향은 미미함을 알 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 난방운전시 저온 및 착상 조건에서 히트펌프 칠러의 성능을 조사하고자 하였다. 실험은 항온항습 기능을 가진 공기엔탈피 방식의 칼로리미터와 항온수조를 사용하여 수행되었으며, 실외온도조건을 설정한 후에 히트펌프 칠러의 성능을 실험으로 측정하였다. 외기조건이 $-7^{\circ}C$에서 $-15^{\circ}C$까지 변화함에 따라 시스템의 성능과 COP는 표준온도 조건의 실험값 보다 약 48~87%까지 감소하였다. 착상 실험에서는 시간 변화에 따라 출구수온이 표준온도를 기준으로 74% 감소하였다. 본 연구로부터 히트펌프 칠러의 설계 기초자료 획득 및 신뢰성을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • The fundamental principles of the operation of microwave discharges that are used to convert microwave energy to broad spectrum visual light are known. In this paper, emission dependance of microwave discharges in mixture content of sulfur with noble gases was studied. It is shown that the excitation of this gaseous mixture is carried out in two phases: (1) ionization of noble gas atoms by a microwave field and (2) the consequent maintenance of slightly ionized nonequilibrium plasma by the field. These two processes have essentially various thresholds for the microwave pump. The purpose of this work is to investigate spectral properties of the high frequency discharges in a mixture sulfur vapors with noble gases.

  • This paper deals with energy-saving effort in the hydraulic power steering system. Commonly, the hydraulic power steering systems are used for passenger cars and the reduction of pumping loss under non-steering condition is important to improve fuel economy. Experiments and simulations are performed simultaneously to examine the main factors to reduce the pumping loss-pressure loss and flow rate of the power steering systems. Fuel economy effect of the optimal design of power steering system is verified by vehicle test - more than 1% fuel consuming reduction is attained.

  • A dynamic model of the Korean total artificial heart(TAH) which contains a brushless DC motor, all of mechanical components, the pump system with integrated variable volume space(WS) and the circulatory system model including the bronchial circulation were established Two different sets of seven differential equations were separately derived for the left and right systolic period of the Korean TAH operation. Throughout the computer simulation, a full-state fEedback optimal controller that minimizes the power consumption of the Korean TAH and drives the end stage velocity of the energy converter to zero was developed based upon the optimal control theory. Robustness of the controller were also analyzed with the dynamic model of the Korean TAH.

  • With recent oil price increases, the fuel efficiency of hydraulic excavators has become a serious issue. Researchers have considered weight lightening by high pressurization in order to improve the efficiency of the excavator and pump controlled actuation (PCA) and to reduce pressure loss of hybrid and valves using mechanical inertia. However, high pressurization is not very effective because the excavator operates at a low speed; a hybrid is inefficient because little accumulated inertial energy is accumulated; and PCA is ineffective because control precision and responsibility are low. In this study, a method to minimize air and gas in hydraulic oil has been presented as a simple and new way to increase hydraulic efficiency.
