  • This paper, we present the evaluation of outage probability on the SNR under the overlapped carrier allocation scheme in the reverse link with imperfect power control of a cellular CDMA system, which is base on using Gaussian approximation. In numerical results, the band limited pulse generated by square-root of raised consin pulse shaping filters (SRRC) of the transmitted signal is investigated and compared in conventional FD/CDMA and OC-CDMA of the outage probability. It will be also show that the outage probability can be improved by overlapping of carriers. We use error statistics to model the intra-cell interference and evaluate the impact of different mobiles velocity and number of resolvable paths on the system performance.

  • This paper presents an optimal initial firing angle control based on the energy consumption and regenerative energy of a parallel multi-pulse thyristor dual converter for urban railway power substations. To prevent short circuiting the thyristor dual converter, a hysteresis band for maintaining a zero-current discontinuous section (ZCDS) is essential during mode changes. During conversion from the ZCDS to forward or reverse mode, the DC trolley voltage can be stabilized by selecting the optimal initial firing angle without an overshoot and slow response. However, the optimal initial firing angle is different depending on the line impedance of each converter. Therefore, the control algorithm for tracking the optimal initial firing angle is proposed to eliminate the overshoot and slow response of DC trolley voltage. Simulations and experiments show that the proposed algorithm yields the fastest DC voltage control performance in the transient state by tracking the optimal firing angle.

  • The choice of control method and circuit must be decided after a broad inspection with the characteristics of load and control elements as well as that of electric and mechanical nature. In the present study, Pulse width modulated(PWM) SCR chopper was chosen and for the electric commutation, Jones' forced method was taken bacause of its having enough reverse bias energy. Objectives of experimentation by this system are; 1) the condition of SCR as a gate trigger pulse. 2) the observation of phenomena at the time of forced commutation 3) the experimentation on characteristics of speed control by PWM chopper. Above experimentation shows good characteristics, however, in the limit of narrow gap between the ON and OFF pulses, a complete control was not possible. So, that must be the point to be studied further alone with the harmonics influence.

  • This paper proposes a new zero-current switching (ZCS) pulse-width modulation (PWM) switch cell that has no additional conduction loss of the main switch. In this cell, the main switch and the auxiliary switch turn on and turn off under zero current condition. The diodes commutate softly and the reverse recovery problems are alleviated. The conduction loss and the current stress of the main switch are minimized, since the resonating current for the soft switching does not flow through the main switch. Based on the proposed ZCS PWM switch cell, a new family of dc to dc PWM converters is derived. The new family of ZCS PWM converters is suitable for the high power applications employing IGBTs. Among the new family of dc to dc PWM converters, a boost converter was taken as an example and has been analyzed. Design guidelines with a design example are described and verified by experimental results from the 2.5㎾ prototype boost converter operating at 40KHz.

  • A spectral inverse technique, which was developed by applying the pulse basis moment method procedure on the direct scattering problem in the reverse sequence for the reconstruction of complex permittivity profiles inside inhomogeneous dielectric objects, is modified to be applicable to the moment method with series-expanded basis. By performing numerical simulations for various type of dielectric objects, it is demonstrated that this inverse technique provides close reconstruction of permittivity profiles. Futhermore, compared to the previous scheme of the pulse basis, the presented method is shown to reduce the computation cost, relative error of reconstructed permittivity profiles by averaging in each cell, and the ill-posedness inherent to this inverse scattering problem.

  • A new soft recovery pulse width modulation quasi resonant converter composed only passive devices snubber network is proposed. This passive devices snubber network is revised form of folding snubber network that suppressed the reverse recovery current of main rectify diode in PWM converter. It also makes the MOSFET switching devices operate in soft state. The efficient of the proposed converter is almost same level to that of the converter of active snubber type. The overall circuit is simple and easy to realized. Therefore, it is suitable to apply to middle range output power source.

  • Nickel iron (Ni-Fe) alloy coating was investigated. The effects of the current density, current type, pulse duration and bath compositions on the morphologies and surface hardness of nickeliron deposits as well as the chemical compositions were investigated. The morphologies, surface hardness and chemical compositions of nickel-iron deposits were varied with current density, current type and bath compositions. The surface hardness was increased up to $550{\sim}600Hv$ when PC plating was employed. Crackless coating was obtained when saccharin was added. The change of composition with thickness was analyzed with EDS and FESEM.

  • Copper filling into TSV (through-silicon-via) and reduction of the filling time for the three dimensional chip stacking were investigated in this study. A Si wafer with straight vias - $30\;{\mu}m$ in diameter and $60\;{\mu}m$ in depth with $200\;{\mu}m$ pitch - where the vias were drilled by DRIE (Deep Reactive Ion Etching) process, was prepared as a substrate. $SiO_2$, Ti and Au layers were coated as functional layers on the via wall. In order to reduce the time required complete the Cu filling into the TSV, the PPR (periodic pulse reverse) wave current was applied to the cathode of a Si chip during electroplating, and the PR (pulse-reverse) wave current was also applied for a comparison. The experimental results showed 100% filling rate into the TSV in one hour was achieved by the PPR electroplating process. At the interface between the Cu filling and Ti/ Au functional layers, no defect, such as a void, was found. Meanwhile, the electroplating by the PR current showed maximum 43% filling ratio into the TSV in an hour. The applied PPR wave form was confirmed to be effective to fill the TSV in a short time.
